We at Hip-Hop Wired pride ourselves on being fully immersed in the music of the culture we rep proudly. Part of our duty as a publication and crew is to school the masses on who is doing what musically and there’s no better way to do that beyond our CRT FRSH (Certified Fresh) bi-weekly playlist.

This week’s CRT FRSH playlist opens with “What It Feels Like” featuring the late, great Nipsey Hussle and JAY-Z for the Judas & The Black Messiah soundtrack. Over some beautiful production from the production collective 1500 Or Nothin’, Neighborhood Nip and Hov sound amazing together, and their themes of Black empowerment sound even harder with the backdrop of the film along with the legacy of slain Black Panther Party leader, Fred Hampton, Sr.

The soundtrack wave is up right now with Coming 2 America dropping soon. Def Jam’s Bobby Sessions links up with Megan Thee Stallion for the track “I’m A King” and speaking of being up, Cardi B’s new hit “Up” is here on our list as well. Pooh Shiesty and Gucci Mane trade verses on Pooh’s “Ugly” track from his Shiesty Season project. And the immensely talented Chicago star Chris Crack joins up with his creative equal U.G.L.Y. Boy Modeling for the hilariously titled “Flip Phone Hangup.”

A big salute to the recently-freed Rowdy Rebel and his new joint “Jesse Owens” alongside NAV, while we make sure to shine the light on the legends lurking in plain sight such as Hus Kingpin, who delivered the stellar Portishus album this year, on the track “The Intruders” with Von Poe and Detroit gunner, Ty Farris.

JID lets off a joint as he preps his latest full-length, pairing up with Conway The Machine on the soul-stirring “Ballads,” and we’ve added some artists who deserve some mention for sounding fresh in a sea of sameness such as Merlaku Ra, Carol Cake, Rigz, Jamal Gasol and more.

Peep the flyness down below. And be sure to hit us up if you think your joints belong on the stage. Make sure it IS some heat prior to hitting send.

Freedom Day: Hip-Hop Wired’s Juneteenth Playlist Courtesy Of The WK UP

Black Lives Matter Protests Held In Cities Nationwide

Black people unite and let’s all get down. Those words were eloquently said on Ed O.G.’s 1991 classic single “I Got To Have It” but they especially have plenty of resonance at the moment. For Juneteenth, and frankly, for any occasion, we at Hip-Hop Wired have compiled a short collection of songs to accompany your celebrations.

As an outlet, we place a strong emphasis on Hip-Hop music and culture, but it goes without saying that other forms of Black music are firmly on our radar. From Hip-Hop to Blues, to Jazz, to Funk and beyond, Black artistry has always found inspiration from times of deep struggle. And as we’re all aware of, the nation is currently under a cultural shift sparked by the Black Lives Matter movement and also the injustices Black women, men, and children have endured for centuries.

HHW’s The WK UP (said as “wake up”) playlist series is usually reserved for older Hip-Hop music acts or tracks we belive folks missed out on but we’ve been remixing its usage lately. For this playlist, we’ve compiled a selection of tracks that not only will hopefully heads bopping and toes tapping, but also enhances whatever setting folks will find themselves in on June 19.

As some should known, Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day or Liberation Day, is an unofficial national holiday that commemorates when Union Army troops finally delivered the federal orders that slavery was officially ended upon arriving to Galveston, Texas in 1865. The Emancipation Proclamation had been in effect for well over years at this point, with the Lone Star State holding on to the remnants of slavery despite the Confederacy’s solid defeat in the United States Civil War.

The WK UP playlist gets switched around periodically, so we encourage everyone who enjoyed it to please save your favorite songs to your personal faves list as the Juneteenth offerings won’t be up forever. That said, we hope you appreciate our small effort to use Black music to fortify our right to fight and hopefully, bring about the change so that we can indeed get down.

Michelle Obama has been a proponent of fitness and health since her days at the White House, and that trend continues even in civilian life. The former First Lady shared an epic workout playlist that features Lizzo, Kanye West, Meek Mill, and many other stars.

“It’s about that time when New Year’s resolutions get a bit harder to stick to. To offer a little inspiration, I want to share my go-to #WorkoutPlaylist with you,” Obama wrote in the caption for her playlist via Twitter.

She continues, “These songs always seem to give me that extra boost to get through my toughest workouts. What’s on your playlist?”

Among the songs, “Soulmate” by Lizzo, “3005” by Childish Gambino aka Donald Glover, “My Money My Baby” by Burna Boy, and “TINTS” by Anderson .Paak featuring Kendrick Lamar opens the high-energy collection. The playlist features clean versions of the songs in question and there’s also a “cool down” section that highlights tracks from Meek Mill and Ella Mai with “24/7” and “I Want You Around” from Snoh Aalegra.

Eminem’s 1st Verse Of The Year Shows He’s Still At War With His Critics

Life is too short to listen to bad music. So…let AFH fight through it for you and only supply you with that great stuff. Despite the reports, Hip-Hop is alive and well and, in many ways, is better than it’s ever been. Not only are we able to go back and listen to all of our favorites, at the click of a button, there is also a ton of great music still being made by artists, young and veteran alike…if you know where to look. To help with that task, we’ve created a playlists with recent music—songs that have been released within the last year or so. We update it regularly, so, if you like what you hear, subscribe to follow us on Spotify. Moments ago, Compton, California MC Boogie released his Shady Records debut, Everything’s For Sale. The biggest guest on the LP from the rapper who grew up just blocks away from friend, Kendrick Lamar, is Eminem. “Rainy Days” is the Streetrunner and Tarik Azzouz-produced track which features Marshall Mathers. It marks Eminem’s first verse of 2019. Boogie Shows Why Eminem Signed Him With An Off The Top Freestyle (Video) The song is reflective, as Boogie sets the tone of admitting that some days are harder than others. Midway into the song, Eminem admits some rough patches in his career. “I left my legacy hurt / F*ckin’ absurd! / Like a shepherd havin’ sex with his sheep, f*ck what you heard / All this talk in my ear / I got an idea / Like the clerk when you’re trying to buy beer / Since on the mic, I’m a nightmare / F*ck it, I thought this might be a good time to put woke-me to rock-a-bye, I got the bottle of Nyquil right here,” says Em, as he speeds up his flow. He references Dr. Dre, and then super-charges his tempo while calling out MCs with nothing to say. Then he warns his critics that he is defined by the fighter’s mentality. The verse comes after a time when Em has been called out by Joe Budden for not doing enough for his Shady artists. MGK and Eminem also engaged in a high-profile 2018 battle. Everything’s For Sale also features Dreamville standout J.I.D., 6LACK, and Snoh Aalegra. Click here to subscribe. Streetrunner recently produced a new EP from Cormega. In addition to new music from Boogie Eminem, the playlist features cuts from J.I.D., Method Man, Anderson .Paak, Black Thought, Apollo Brown & Joell Ortiz, Mac Miller, Buddy, Missy Elliott, Busta Rhymes, Buddy, Childish Gambino, Action Bronson, Drake, Nas, Jay Rock, Westside Gunn, Kanye West & Kid Cudi, Pusha-T, Lil Wayne, Bun B, Dave East, Royce 5’9 (and his group PRhyme), Phonte, Masta Ace & Marco Polo, J. Cole, Logic, Trippie Redd, Kendrick Lamar, Black Milk, and a host of others.
