LISTEN: DJ Shadow Unveils Upcoming Double LP ‘Our Pathetic Age’ With First Single “Rosie”

One of the best mixmasters out of the ’90s underground Hip-Hop scene is making his return this year, as DJ Shadow just announced he’ll be dropping a double album filled with collaborations from a handful of rap all-stars.

The lineup for Our Pathetic Age is hefty to say the least, bringing some of today’s new kids on the block together with those we consider to be legends to the game. The features go from Nas, De La Soul, Run the Jewels, Inspectah Deck, Ghostface Killah and Raekwon to rising MCs like Wiki, Dave East and See You Yesterday rapper-turned-actor Stro. The album will also include a few genre switch-ups as well, like Interpol’s Paul Banks and Future Islands frontman Samuel T. Herring — whether or not he’ll be channeling ‘Hemlock Ernst’ is to be determined. From the sound of “Rosie,” the double LP’s beat-thumping lead single, Shadow will definitely be borrowing from all across the music spectrum. The album will be released through Mass Appeal Records, similar to his 2017 EP, The Mountain Has Fallen.

Listen to “Rosie” off DJ Shadow’s upcoming album Our Pathetic Age below, and make sure to look out for the full project to drop on November 15.

Snoop Dogg is Back On His Blue Plaid Steez With Swizz Beatz in the “Countdown” Music Video

He may be known as Martha Stewart’s bestie today, but there was a time when Snoop Dogg was one of the most loc’d out rappers in Hip-Hop. As he prepares to release his 17th studio album I Wanna Thank Me, it looks like the rap pioneer is getting back to his Long Beach roots in the music video for his latest Swizz Beatz-assisted single “Countdown.”

The video shows both Swizz & Snoop decked out in blue bandanas and plaid button-down shirts that Tha Doggfather rapper helped make popular during his days as an active member of the Crips gang. Whether or not he’s still affiliated is not up for public discussion, but the main thing worth nothing is that the track slaps harder than the hydraulic low-riders featured in the video itself. Beautiful video vixens, a dancing clown posse and of course clouds of that good green are all included throughout, but it’s the crisp delivery of Snoop’s flow that will have you hitting the replay button to make sure we haven’t time-warped back into 1993 — basically, our favorite OG still got it!

Watch Snoop Dogg’s new music video for “Countdown” featuring Swizz Beatz above, and check for ‘I Wanna Thank Me‘ — the album was named after his viral Hollywood Walk of Fame acceptance speech — when it drops this August.

WATCH: YG – “In The Dark” (Music Video)

YG’s latest music video is straight out of hell — literally!

Arriving as the latest single off his new album 4REAL 4REAL, the visuals for “In The Dark” take the Compton-bred rapper into either his greatest nightmare or biggest fantasy depending on how you look at it. On the surface, skull bones stack up on the walls and fire pits spew from all ends of the nearly-four-minute clip. However, dancing devils and horn-bearing vixens make it all look like a party up in the House of Hades if you ask us. We guess that’s just what happens when you down a bottle of tequila.

The G-Funk-laced beat produced by DJ Mustard really does make it seem more pleasant than the visuals would suggest, but even still we’ll sit the next one out if the party requires dancing with the devil or getting a lap dance from one of his zombie wives. Well, maybe the latter could turn into a fun time but we’ll let the homie Keenon enjoy the festivities all to himself.

Watch the Colin Tilley-directed music video for “In The Dark” by YG above, and go stream 4REAL 4REAL right now as the rapper will be donating part of the proceeds from the album to Nipsey Hussle’s family.
