Dwight Howard clearly roots for the bad guys at the movies. He recently purchased a car in honor of Marvel Cinematic Universe’s most celebrated villain.

Complex is reporting that the all-star center recently copped a brand new Rolls Royce. Obviously it isn’t rare for NBA players to ball out with luxury vehicles he ordered his modern day chariot in purple. While the color in question could easily be perceived as an homage to his new Los Angeles Lakers team it is really a nod to Thanos.

On a recent episode of In Depth with Graham Bensinger he gave a tour of his 8.8 million dollar Atlanta estate. During a walk through of his garage he discussed the automobile and the inspiration behind it. “I got this purple car because of Thanos. He’s from Avengers and he’s my favorite character. He was able to understand that in order for him to complete his mission, he had to get rid of his emotions, and that’s the hardest thing that we all face” he explained.

He further detailed his enthusiasm towards the character during a segment on FS1’s Fair Game with Kristine Leahy. He discussed how he had a rather big fanboy moment when he found himself on the plane with actor Josh Brolin. “I was sitting, like, two seats behind him, so I write him a letter, and I’m just telling him, ‘Thank you! Your character in this movie changed my life. It changed my thought process, and I really appreciate you for what you did” Dwight revealed.

Sony Plans to Flood Market With Spider-man Content Over Next Seven to Eight Years

Sony has a plan to make sure we get a ton of Spider-man content for the foreseeable future.

In an interview with Variety, Sony Pictures Entertainment chairman Tony Vinciquerra and Sony Pictures Television chairman Mike Hopkins discussed Sony’s plans for its Spider-Man related properties in the future, and it appears Sony has a pretty clear vision of where they’re going.

“We have the next seven or eight years laid out as to what we’re going to do with that asset, and that will not only be on the film side — it’ll be on the TV side,” said Vinciquerra. “Our television group will have its own set of characters from within that universe that we will seek to develop.”

According to Hopkins, the team on the television side is “pretty far down the road in terms of working through which characters we think could be their own star of a series.”

“We’re developing a lot of Marvel-related content, and I think we’ll be out in the market very soon with something really, really big and transformational for us, because we’ve not done any shows with Marvel before, with Marvel IP,” said Hopkins. “So that’s a big piece of development that we’re onto… I think we aspire to have several shows in a universe that we create that can pollinate between each other, and to [be] working with a partner to make that happen.”

While it’s currently unclear if Sony intends to partner with a streaming service like Netflix or Hulu to facilitate its Marvel shows, Hopkins reportedly didn’t deny the Disney+ streaming service is also a potential name in the mix. Content is king and Spider-man has a lot to offer.

Marvel to Develop a Falcon and Winter Soldier Series for Disney’s Upcoming Streaming Service

Marvel and Disney are getting ready to enter the streaming war. Marvel’s Falcon and Winter Soldier are reportedly set to team up and star in a new limited series on Disney’s upcoming streaming service. As reported by Variety, Malcom Spellman, writer and co-executive producer on Fox’s Empire, has been chosen to write a series that is focused on Bucky Barnes and Sam Wilson, Winter Soldier and Falcon respectively.

Sebastian Stan has played Winter Soldier since 2011’s Captain America, while Anthony Mackie has portrayed Falcon since Captain America: Winter Soldier.

Disney’s streaming service is an aggressive play to take on Netflix, Amazon, and Hulu (although after the Fox merger, that last one may wind up being just another arm of the conglomerate’s business). The cancelation of both Luke Cage and Iron Fist over the last month is an indication that Disney intends to bring Marvel properties back into the Magic Kingdom gates.

In addition to these newly reported series, Disney has already announced that it will be delivering audiences the first live-action Star Wars series, which is being developed by Jon Favreau and is rumored to have a production budget estimated at $100 million. A Marvel series would likely necessitate a similar budget, making the upcoming service an ambitious endeavor.

The streaming service is set to launch next year and is intended to be the home of Disney’s vast library of programming, including Marvel and Star Wars properties, in addition to countless Disney classics.
