Kanye West Collaborator, Malik Yusef, Sued for Forging his Signature in Multi-Million Dollar Scam

Malik Yusef was reportedly sued by Korean fashion brand, Gentle Monster, for forging Kanye West’s signature on contracts and using fake invoices.

The clothing brand sued Yusef for using his relationship with Ye to deceive them to believe that he was searching for talent to do a video series titled, Project 13.

“From their earliest interactions with Gentle Monster, defendants went out of their way to describe Yusef’s star-studded connections,” Susan Leader, Gentle Monster’s attorney, wrote. “They never missed an opportunity to mention that Yusef routinely works with artists like Beyoncé and Kanye, that he tours with Jay–Z, or that he vacations with Pharrell Williams.”

The company claims Yusef swindled them to complete all transactions through him and leave out any agents. Gentle Monster paid Malik Yusef a whopping $2.5 million under the impression that he’ll be pulling in A-list influencers like Kanye, Pharell, Jaden Smith, and Paris Jackson.

“Defendants’ deception was both flagrant and brazen,” Leader continued. “Specifically, they forged Kanye’s signature, created a shell entity named after Kanye’s deceased mother, issued fraudulent invoices made to appear as though they had been issued by legitimate talent agencies, lied about their contacts and work with artists, and, in the end, pocketed more than $2.5 million from Gentle Monster.”

The clothing brand sued Yusef as well as his manager, and business parter, Burundi Partlow and Sonja Nutall, on claims of fraud, breach of contract, breach of the implied covenant of good faith and fair dealing and unfair competition.

Talk about a plot twist. Longtime Kanye West affiliate Malik Yusef is being sued for allegedly forging Yeezy’s signature.

Basically, Yusef is being painted as a scammer in a Korean company’s lawsuit.

Reports TMZ:

Gentle Monster — a Korean-based fashion brand known for its eyewear — claims Yusef scammed the company out of $2.5 million by promising Kanye would create a video for the company. GM says Yusef even set up a meeting between Kanye and a rep for the brand, making it seem like Ye was on board for the whole thing. Kanye allegedly had no clue there was any type of business deal in place.

According to the lawsuit — obtained by TMZ — Kanye wasn’t the only celeb Yusef promised to deliver … he also claimed Pharrell, Jaden Smith and others would help out with the project.

GM says Yusef’s scam was elaborate — spanning over 9 months — and included forged signatures from Kanye and phony invoices made to appear like they were sent from legit talent agencies.

Apparently, the jig was up when Yusef submitted a video he said was created by Yeezy and Pharrell, that Kim Kardashian quickly said was not so.

Welp.

So far, no word from Yusef, whose Twitter bio still says he is a G.O.O.D. Music artist, regarding these allegations.

Kanye West Affiliate Comes Forward To Address $900,000 Scam Reports: “I Barely Take His F**kin’ Advice”

Malik Yusef

G.O.O.D. Music’s Malik Yusef is stepping forward to stop his name from getting dragged through the mud. The hip-hop entertainer has shut down buzz about maliciously forging Kanye West‘s name to secure nearly $1 million in a deal with designer Philipp Plein.

According to reports, he did work on Ye’s behalf to arrange a New York Fashion Week event but didn’t have any shady intentions behind it.

Yusef strongly denies those allegations and tells us it was business as usual as he negotiated with Plein to get some “futuristic t-shirts” at Fashion Week. He claims Kanye was aware of the pending contract, but when it became clear Ye wasn’t going to perform … he let Plein know the deal was off. Malik claims he didn’t touch a dime of Plein’s money and even sent it back to him. He’s adamant he’s not scamming anyone and points out he’s been working with Kanye for years … and they run a foundation together. (TMZ)

Heading into the weekend, reports emerged about Kanye falling victim to forgery from a G.O.O.D. Music affiliate.

Plein apparently fell for it hook, line and sinker, and they made a deal wherein Kanye would supposedly pocket 7 figures and, in return, he would perform at the NYFW show. It gets worse. We’re told the guy forged Kanye’s name on the contract and then had a $900,000 advance wired to an account … which the guy promptly cleaned out. Kanye’s not performing at the show, and Plein is now out a pretty penny. As for the guy who committed the alleged fraud … we’re told he’s a former friend and associate of G.O.O.D. Music. (TMZ)

Recently, Kanye appeared to grab a bite to eat with G.O.O.D. Music affiliate Kid Cudi and actor Pete Davidson.

Last month, Kanye reunited with former Roc-A-Fella Records owner Dame Dash.

Malik Yusef Announces Tribute Tour for 10th Anniversary of ‘808s & Heartbreak’

By: Leslie Monét

It’s the ten year anniversary for 808s & Heartbreak and super-producer Malik Yusef, also known as DJ Good Music the Angel, announced plans to spearhead a U.S. tour to celebrate one of the most influential albums of the new millennium. The 15-city tribute tour is slated to kick off in Los Angeles on an undisclosed date, but Yusef will dedicate this production to local artists by way of an online selection process.

“Any musicians have the ability to be a part of the tour, as the musical acts will be curated through an open application audition,“ said Yusef. “Each artist or group will perform songs from the ‘808s & Heartbreak’ album in their own style, paying tribute to Kanye West’s original tracks.”

In a recent interview with Rolling Stone, Yusef exposed the painful creative process in the studio with Kanye as he suffered the indescribable loss of his mother and other personal trials. “I don’t know about the other writers, but me and Kanye argue profusely. I think through 808s & Heartbreak, I probably got kicked off the label two or three times,” Yusef said, fondly, of the early recording sessions. Kanye’s iconic 4th studio album was curated in part by Tony Williams, Consequence, a newcomer at the time Kid Cudi and Esthero.

“When we sat back and we listened to it, I think we were like, ‘Either this gonna change the game or people are going to hate it.’ I think that was the bet and I think we walked out the casinos winning with this one,” Consequence stated to Rolling Stone. The final performances will be selected by fans in each city through an online voting process. Sponsored and hosted by Malik Yusef, the tour will act as a large-scale homage to the album and provide an exclusive opportunity for unknown artists to put on for their hometowns.
