Moving On Fast: Sources Say Lena Waithe Is Now With Cynthia Erivo, Allegedly

Creative Impact Awards and 10 Directors to Watch Brunch

Source: Nicky Nelson/WENN.com / WENN

Lena Waithe has been steeping in a hearty stew of controversy after the news went out that she and her wife, Alana Mayo, have ended their union. Now, rumors are surfacing that Waithe is romantically involved with Harriet actress Cynthia Erivo.

According to the good homies over at BOSSIP, sources tell the outlet that Waithe, 35 and Erivo, 33, have been living together after being spotted in a number of photos. While Erivo stated in the past that her relationship with Waithe was rooted strictly in sisterhood, Twitter account @okweseeyou has been documenting from their vantage point their observations of Erivo and Waithe.

“Is everyone aware that Cynthia Erivo and Lena Waithe are having a secret love affair?!? Isn’t Lena Married and since when was Cynthia a Lesbian??? I hear they were both spotted holding hands and kissing at the Golden Globes.. #2020 is looking good so far,” the account wrote in a retweet caption that also highlighted a news tweet that Erivo has been tapped to play the late Aretha Franklin.

This action and the accompanying words dominate the account’s timeline, using other news sites’ tweets related to Erivo and the entertainment industry to hammer home their message.

Waithe has yet to publicly speak to all the rumors swirling about, and Erivo has been mum as well. A quick scan of Alana Mayo’s Twitter timeline doesn’t reveal much as she hasn’t posted since late last year. Scanning Waithe’s Twitter account has not yielded much in the way regarding a response to the online chatter surrounding the end of her marriage.

F*ckboi Fresh: Lena Waithe & Wife End Marriage Over Cheating Rumors, Allegedly

76th Annual Golden Globe Awards - Arrivals

Source: David Crotty / Getty

Lena Waithe warmed her way into the hearts of many with her turn on Aziz Ansari’s Netflix series Master Of None as Denise, a fun-loving lesbian woman who enjoyed the thrill of the hunt. If rumors are true, Waithe and her wife are ending their marriage and it is being reported that cheating is at the center of the split.

As exclusively shared by LoveBScott.com, Waithe, 35, and wife Alana Mayo secretly wed last year after three years of dating in San Francisco. The union appeared solid as Waithe and Mayo, a content executive, were relationship goals for many observers. However, the outlet obtained some accounts from sources that allege Waithe gifted lingerie and designer handbags to various women.

Wathe, best known as a screenwriter and producer ahead of her acting duties, has been an active member of the creative community and praised not only for her artistry behind the camera but also as a strong advocate for LGBTQ rights.

However, the Chicago native might want to not look on Twitter at the moment as her name became a top trending topic with folks slandering her for her so-called “F*ck Boi” tendencies. Some are even taking the moment to slander Waithe’s screenwriting and producer duties for the crime-tinged romance flick Queen & Slim that was released near the end of last year.

We’ve amassed the best of the heaping amounts of slander Lena Waithe is catching on Twitter right now since her name first popped up for all the wrong reasons. Check it all out below.

Jesus Is King was late, but Megan Thee Stallion is right on time. The Houston rapper is back with a new track, “Ride or Die” off the soundtrack of the highly-anticipated Lena Waithe and Melina Matsoukas film Queen & Slim.

The rapper — who happens to be writing a horror film — linked up with VickeeLo on the track inspired by the film’s “Bonnie and Clyde” theme while highlighting racism and police brutality. On the song, Thee Stallion gets her ride or die on while boasting about her riding skills and snapper:

“I’ma, ride that dick like a stolen car,” she raps in the intro. “I got the best pussy that you had thus far / Which, bitch you know going hard as me / I’ma, ride or die, and I don’t need the keys (Fuck it up).”

Queen & Slim stars Daniel Kaluuya (Get Out, Black Panther) and introduces Jodie Turner-Smith to the world in a leading lady role. The film was penned by Lena Waithe (Master of None) and is the directorial debut for Beyoncé and Solange collaborator Melina Matsoukas. The film’s score was written by Blood Orange. The movie arrives in theaters nationwide on November 27 and is already generating plenty of buzz on social media and film world.

The Black Bonnie & Clyde: ‘Queen & Slim’ Premiering this Fall

Are you ready for a modern-day Black Bonnie and Clyde? Lena Waithe, the Emmy-winning screenwriter, already has everyone on the edge of their seats for Queen & Slim as she explains to Complex.

The film is “Bonnie & Clyde meets Thelma & Louis meets Set It Off. Waithe worked closely with writer James Frey as they adapted an original idea for the story. Universal Pictures will release Queen & Slim a romantic thriller film directed by Melina Matsoukas on November 27.

“I wanted to explore a world where getting pulled over by the police is like playing Russian roulette, and your only weapon against injustice is your ability to never let go of who you are,” Waithe announced at the BET Awards earlier this summer.

It’s a young Black couple’s first date and after leaving dinner they decide to continue their night, but to their surprise blue and red flashing lights race behind them. A police officer pulls them over in the middle of the evening because they failed to use a turning signal. Things quickly escalate despite the minuscule infraction and the officer draws out his weapon onto the couple and aggressively threatens them. In self-defense, Slim hastily grabs the gun and fatally shoots the officer.

“It’s a story of resistance and a story in which we are never victims and most importantly, a story about the strength of Black love,” Melina Matsoukas explains.

The pair immediately goes on the run as they drive across the country, but they can’t fight their feelings for one another and they fall in love in the process. Their journey as fugitives isn’t an easy one as their faces go viral from a clip of the shooting. Queen, played by Jodie Turner-Smith in the starring role, and Slim, played by Black Panther’s Daniel Kaluuya embody the pure essence of Black love and throughout the film will use that power to fight against oppression. Turner-Smith and Kaluuya’s other castmates include Indya Moore from Pose, Chloë Sevigny, and Bokeem Woodbine.

A film this anticipated must have a bomb soundtrack. The film’s scoring was created by Devonté Hynes, a young black R&B artist known as Blood Orange – we are in good hands. We know you heard “Staying Alive” the 1977 Bee Gee’s classic and “Runnin” the 1995 hit by The Pharcyde. Stay tuned for a closer look into the songs that carry us through this enticing journey. Big Sean Lands First Acting Gig Via Lena Waithe’s ‘Twenties’ Series

Cannes Lions 2019 : Day Two

Source: Richard Bord / Getty

As Big Sean makes his return to the music, he’s also embarking on new creative moves as well. The Detroit rapper landed his first acting gig via Lena Waithe‘s upcoming series Twenties and says he’s actually playing someone different from himself as is revealed in a new interview with Waithe.

Variety reports:

Tell us about enlisting Big Sean for the cast. What’s he like as an actor?
Big Sean is a star. I was really flattered, he mentioned me [at one of his concerts]. I don’t think he knew this, but I’ve been a fan of his for a really long time. Always loved his music, always loved his craft. I messaged him and he was, like, “Yo, we should link up at some point.” He’s from Detroit, I’m from Chicago — we’re not Hollywood.

We ended up linking up in real life. I kicked it at his crib, we talked [and] got real with each other. He let me listen to music from his new album, which is amazing. I shared with him some of my experiences in the business. We really connected. There was a character, Tristan, we had written that made me think of him. I didn’t even make him read for it, I knew he’d be right. He’s in about three episodes and he’s phenomenal. He’s so natural. He’s so good. He’s easy on the eyes, as we all know. The ladies are going to get a kick out of watching him on screen.

Last June we got out first look at the intense “Black Bonnie & Clyde” feature but now we get the official trailer to the Melina Matsoukas directed film and Dios mio it looks so good.

Answering the years old question of “what’s the worst that can happen on a Tinder date?” Queen & Slim stars Jodie Turner-Smith (Queen) and Daniel Kaluuya (Slim) as a couple who’s first date turns into a ride or die situation as they find themselves on the run for their freedom after Slim accidentally kills an overzealous police officer who was about to shoot an unarmed Queen. With the Black community rooting for them and helping them along the way, Queen and Slim get familiar with each other and seem to find love while fighting for survival.

Lord, please don’t let this have a Set It Off or Thelma & Louise ending!

Check out the full trailer for Queen & Slim below and let us know if you’ll be checking for this come Thanksgiving weekend.

Queen & Slim

Source: Universal / Universal

Get Out‘s Daniel Kaluuya has really been establishing himself as one of Hollywood’s brightest stars ever since breaking out of the sunken place and taking down a terrorist organization in Jordan Peele’s cult classic back in 2017. Now he’s about to make some very loud noise all over as he finds himself having become a folk hero to the Black community in Lena Waithe’s upcoming film Queen & Slim.

Directed by Melina Matsoukas and starring Kaluuya and newcomer Jodie Turner-Smith, Queen & Slim is the story about a first date turned Black community folklore as the couple finds themselves on the run from authorities after an overzealous police officer gets his comeuppance for harassing the twosome. With the community rooting them on and the feds on their ass, the “Black Bonnie and Clyde” have no choice but to ride or die together and in the process fall in love with each other. Can’t wait for this one.

Check out the trailer for Queen & Slim below and let us know if you’ll be checking for this when it drops November 27.
