Biking While Black: Las Vegas Cops Killed Black Biker After Stopping Him Over Missing Reflectors

DO NOT CROSS!!!

Source: South_agency / Getty

A Black Las Vegas man was arrested last week after police initially stopped him for not having proper lighting and reflectors on his bicycle. According to reports, 50-year-old Byron Lee Williams raced off with the officers giving chase, but the man died in their custody after they subdued him.

Local outlet KTNV reports:

The incident began shortly before 6 a.m. near Bonanza Road and Martin Luther King Boulevard. Asst. Sheriff Charles Hank said that patrol officers from the Bolden Area Command came across a man who was riding a bicycle without a safety light.

When they attempted to stop him, he took off. The patrol officers began chasing him. Initially the man, who has been identified as Byron Lee Williams, was still on his bike but then he began trying to escape on foot.

The officers were eventually able to catch up with him and told the man to get on the ground. While being cuffed, Williams told the officers he couldn’t breathe. As they were taking him to the patrol car, Williams appeared to pass out.

Officers called for assistance and the Las Vegas fire department arrived several minutes later. Medical personnel began treating Williams on the scene before transporting him to Valley Hospital. Williams was pronounced deceased at the hospital.

The family of Williams is demanding answers in the case, most notably wondering why officers cut off their recording equipment while also ignoring Williams’ pleas that he could not breathe. Officials in Las Vegas are examining the incident, which took place last week Thursday.

Janet Jackson Surprises Superfan Dad In Las Vegas Backstage[Video]

SWITZERLAND-LIFESTYLE-MUSIC

Source: FABRICE COFFRINI / Getty

Janet Jackson is currently on the tail end of her Las Vegas residency and a father got the surprise of his life after meeting the musical legend. While backstage, the Jackson superfan got to meet the singer and entertainer and the moment was all caught on video by his son.

WSNV reports:

Posted to KB Strawder Jr.’s Twitter account, the video shows his father explaining to a group of listeners how much it meant to see Jackson perform live.

What his dad doesn’t know is that the “Rhythm Nation” singer is right behind him.

As Strawder’s dad explains how just seeing Janet Jackson was a highlight, she wraps her arms around him, saying, “That’s really sweet. I’m glad you liked it.”

Strawder, a business entrepreneur and Air Force veteran according to his Instagram bio, along with his brother surprised their dad for Father’s Day with tickets to see Jackson.

The aforementioned video of the dad being surprised with tickets a while back apparently caught the attention of Jackson, making the entire moment even more special. Check out the videos below.

Sin City Cairo – “Cairo” EP (Album Review)

Sin City Cairo rolls the dice once again. The Las Vegas-native returns to follow up his previous album Dream Chasin with a new album, titled, Cairo. The Egyptian conceptual album returns the new artist to the crap table for a second chance at a big hit.

A seven-track collective, Cairo continues to grow as an artist on his latest effort. Tapping deeper into his abilities and discovering new rhyme schemes and flows to identify himself as an artist in today’s Hip Hop. Hailing from Sin City, you can bet the odds that Cairo will take big chances this album cycle to secure a potentially huge jackpot.

Stream Sin City Cairo’s New Album Cairo Now.

The album’s production is solid, properly hand-selected and made to explore Cairo’s creativity. Includes all of today’s trendy elements of bass and claps. Behind the boards, the producers give Sin City Cairo a path to greatness straight ahead.

Lyrically, Sin City Cairo shows us a few noteworthy parlor tricks in-between the lines. However, Sin City Cairo has a lot of bad habits vocally like lazy wordplay and draughts of empty flows too few and between. “Party on the Westside” is an album highlight while “She Ain’t For Me” is the album’s bad moment. Sin City Cairo keeps it short and sweet on the collective but he needs to play more to his strengths of story-telling like he did on Westside.

Portraying yourself as a king at any level in Hip Hop is tricky due to the fact that you will always have to convince others to follow your sound faithfully through consistency, aggression, and authority. Something an up-and-coming artist has difficulty maintaining the persona as they are in the process of searching for their own identity, leading to the motto of “the blind leading the blind”. However, Cairo’s lyrical abilities have grown fairly since his last outing but he still has a long way to go as an artist. Production could be the issue as it often finds it hard to fit with his vocal and often leaves him falling flat on the track no matter how good the bar(s) is. But the beautiful thing about Hip Hop is a project helps you grow and learn who you are as an artist.

Too Much Heat: DJ Whoo Kid’s Speaker Caught On Fire During Set

The Christopher & Dana Reeve Foundation Gala at the Conrad - Arrivals

Source: Derrick Salters/WENN.com / WENN

DJ Whoo Kid might need to start carrying a fire extinguisher in the booth with him during his sets if things carry on like this. The veteran New York DJ was playing a party in Las Vegas when one of his speakers burst into flames last weekend.

Page Six reports:

DJ Whoo Kid’s set at Liquid Pool Lounge at the Aria in Las Vegas was cut short Friday — after a speaker caught on fire.

“It was insane. There was a crazy bachelorette party that [came into the DJ booth and] kept turning up the volume,” a spy told Page Six. “It was like 108 [degrees], and the heat index was so high the speaker just busted. It caught on fire and all of a sudden, smoke was coming from everywhere. Needless to say, the day party was cut short.”

It appears that everyone made it out the party unharmed, thankfully.

Relive “Hotline Bling” Forever By Visiting Drake’s New Wax Figure at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas

Drake’s lucrative residency in Las Vegas must be going pretty well! It now looks like the infamous party city is honoring their new rap resident with a wax figure at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas inspired by his worldwide smash “Hotline Bling.”

Officially open for public visits, the statue is designed after the music video that became a viral sensation for pretty much all of summer 2015. The details are beyond accurate, all the way down to his OVO-branded sweatsuit and the “Wheat” Timberland boots. The figure will also stand in front of a backdrop duplicated to look like the video’s neon-themed setting, which was infamously influenced by the work of James Turrell.

The months it took to create a dripped-out Drizzy really paid off, which includes everything from data collecting for the most accurate detailing to the tedious task of creating individual human hair follicles for eyebrows and hairlines. Looking sharp!

You can visit the new Drake wax figure right now at Madame Tussauds Las Vegas in The Grand Canal Shoppes (3377 S Las Vegas Blvd Ste. 2001). Let us know if you think it looks like him after checking out the unveiling video below:

Meek Mill To Accept Apology From Cosmopolitan Hotel

Meek Mill Launches Residency At Drai's Beach Club - Nightclub In Las Vegas

Source: Gabe Ginsberg / Getty

Meek Mill and his crew were met by security after attempting to party at the Cosmopolitan hotel in Las Vegas over the weekend and were told conflicting reasons as to why they couldn’t enter. Now, the hotel is issuing an apology that the Philadelphia rapper will accept, this after his lawyer called the incident racist while threading a lawsuit.

TMZ reports:

Multiple sources with direct knowledge tell us, the Cosmo will issue a “significant public apology” expressing regret and accepting fault when Meek was told last Saturday to leave the hotel … or else.

TMZ broke the story, Meek’s lawyer, Joe Tacopina, prepared a lawsuit he intended to file this week against the hotel, claiming racial discrimination and defamation. Tacopina claims there is a blacklist for black rappers at the hotel, but hotel sources say that’s BS.

We’ve also learned the lawyer for O.J. Simpson reached out to Tacopina, saying O.J. had been mistreated by the hotel as well. In November 2017, hotel staff kicked O.J. out after the staff claimed he was intoxicated and unruly. He was permanently banned from the grounds.

The outlet adds that Snoop Dogg even had run-ins with the Cosmo, and the bad PR definitely seemed to do the trick for Meek and his squad.

Meek Mill To Sue Cosmopolitan Hotel Over Racism Claims

Meek Mill Returns To Drais Nightclub

Source: Judy Eddy/WENN.com / WENN

Meek Mill and members of his crew were denied entry into a Las Vegas hotel over the weekend, and now his attorney is set to file a lawsuit as a result. According to Meek’s lawyer, the Cosmopolitan denied the Philadelphia rapper and his crew due to racism and not the claims of the venue being at capacity.

TMZ reports:

Meek’s celeb lawyer, Joe Tacopina, tells TMZ, he will ask for “heavy monetary damages” for “lying and humiliating Meek,” adding, “I’m going to take this place down because of what they did.”

Tacopina claims there’s a list of black rappers who are persona non grata at a group of Vegas hotels. Cosmo denies it excludes anyone because of race, but Tacopina tells us he’s already identified 2 other rappers — Yo Gotti and BlocBoy JB — who claim other Vegas hotels have denied them because they’re black rappers.

TMZ broke the story, Meek and his crew were going to see DJ Mustard Saturday at the Marquee Nightclub at the hotel but they were met by security as they pulled up and were ordered to leave, and if they got out of the car they’d be arrested for trespassing.

The outlet adds that by way of a video, the security detail at the Cosmo changed their story by saying a prior incident at the club barred entry but the hotel claims it told Meek’s team that they were at capacity, which makes it appear as if something isn’t adding up. Further, Meek tried to grab food from inside the establishment and was still denied.

With the kind of powerful allies Meek Mill has, this has the potential to get pretty spooky for the Cosmopolitan.

V12 – “What You Need” (Single Review)

Las Vegas-by-way-of Boca Raton recording artist V12 is ready to let the world hear his sound after a grueling nine-year musical hiatus. Previously in a music group as a young teen, V12’s music has developed into a mature sound. As a solo act, V12 drops his formal introduction in breakout single, “What You Need”.

Off his reigniting solo project, respectively titled, The Commission. “What You Need” is the lead single off the new project, equipped with a catchy sing-a-long hook, and aligned with a popular series of verses that follow a play on words formation. To most an unknown sound, V12 returns to the landscape with a credible reference but a noble testy offering for a new generation to approve.

Stream “What You Need” by V12 below, courtesy of Spotify.

An easy listening lullaby-structured instrumental targeted for the new age simple-minded enthusiast. The first time around, the bubble gum commercial sound is understandable, appreciative, and overall expected. Amusing for the most, “What You Need” cliche elements will win over the female persuasion naturally but will grow on the male demographic respectfully.

Not really a poetic but backed by a convincingly smooth R&B hook. V12’s caliber of lyricism formidable but a bit brute for the song’s concept. V12 exhibits several tricks with seductive keywords and tone but fails to convince of the rising star to be a genuine Casanova. A trait many of today’s artists fail to master but steadily thrive with a well-balanced amount of explicit and raunchy vocabulary.

An admired effort that exceeds the usual expectations, V12 satisfies both old and new fans with a popular blueprint. Radio-friendly, “What You Need” plays it safe and follows like a pawn with aspirations of bigger tracks to come shortly. An initial appetizer, “What You Need” serves its purpose as its easy to recognize that V12’s return is generic but persuasive overall.
