Maxwell, Anthony Hamilton and Joe Smoke Out “The Night Tour,” Houston, Texas

The Night Tour featuring Maxwell, Anthony Hamilton and Joe descended upon The Toyota Center in Houston Texas on Friday.  Let’s just say that they smoked that stage so hot that by the end of the night, the crowd could “smell the BBQ.” The concert opened up with just three letters – JOE – who had […]

50 Cent Admits Trey Songz Didn’t Want to Remix ‘Power’ Theme Song

50 Cent stopped by The Breakfast Club recently to talk all things Power and his recent social media antics.

Within the first few seconds they dived right into the topic of the unnecessary theme song change. “They bossed me around on the remix,” Fif said speaking of Power fans across the entire world wide web.

“Because it was six years, I thought it was kinda time to freshen it up and they was like nah,” the mogul said.

“You know what I realized though … the remix ain’t really bad. It just shocked us. It was too much of a surprise,” Charlamagne Tha God added. “I was making it ‘now’ … Trey Songz a little A Boogie,” 50 explained.

“How did you call Trey and say you’re not using his remix?” DJ Envy asked. Fifty went on to explain that he already had A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie’s verse on the song and presented it to Trigga in the studio. “Why you want to do that?” Trey asked according to 50 Cent. The Queens native got the singer to see his vision then he hopped on the chorus.

But as soon as the first episode premiered and there was an uproar, Fifty said Trey texted him immediately saying, “I told yo a**. I told you not to do that,” he explained jokingly.

Fortunately, Fif’ is a peoples man and put the original version back on for the third episode. Hopefully it stays that way.

Triggered: Trey Songz Responds To ‘Power’ Theme Song Backlash, Offers The Fade

Power Season 6 Key Art

Source: Starz / Starz

After almost a week of spot on memes and trolling Trey Songz has had enough. He has let the world know he will no longer be Black Twitter’s punching bag.

As spotted on The Grio, Tremaine is definitely feeling the backlash from what many are calling the unnecessary butchering of Power’s theme song. Last week the hit show premiered the first episode from its final sixth season and as soon as the credits started rolling fans were thrown for a loop. Instead of the “Big Rich Town” we have all grown to love over the last couple of years viewers were left befuddled when they heard a new version featuring the “Bottoms Up” singer.

Needless to say, people were not fond of the remix. So much so that the song trended throughout social media causing Trey to respond. Today (Friday, August 30) he posted a black and white photo of him smoking a cigar. His caption made it clear you can catch his hands for an in person remix. “Ima slap the sh*t outta one of you ni***s bout this Power sh*t.”

Meanwhile Joe, the original singer featured on the track with 50 Cent, relished in the fact that his performance remains king.

Naturally 50 Cent threw his two cents via his forever petty Instagram account.

Let’s hope the executives at the Starz Network are listening because the people have spoken.

R&B Singer Joe Responds to 50 Cent Swapping Him Out Of The ‘Power’ Theme Song

One of the most successful components of the hit STARZ mega-drama series, Power, is its theme song, “Big Rich Town.” The original song is let by the 90s R&B crooner and songwriter, Joe. Iconic. The song was not only heard every Sunday during the last five seasons… but it was also a stable in club mixes.

Folk really rock with it.

So when millions of folk gathered in front of their boob tube (or whatever device that they watch their programming on) they were super shocked to see that the song had been replaced. Instead, the beloved theme song was swapped out to another song, led by Trey Songz.  Folk were mad.

Fif heard it and ventured out to IG to address it, noting that people have no bought a Joe cd in “years.”

Even Trey Songz took to social to comment on people not really rocking with the switch. He jumped in the comment section and stated that fans were out here hurting his feelings and that he may need to be compensated for this distress.

Well now, Joe has finally weighed in on the change. While traveling to Africa, he took time out to just acknowledge the love that folk have given him for his now classic theme song.

Do you think that 50 should switch it back?

Joe Responds To Fans Demanding OG Version of “Big Rich Town” Return To ‘Power’

Joe Responds To Fans Criticism of "Big Rich Town" Remix

Fans were disgusted while watching last weekend’s Power’s season 6 premiere. Instead of hearing Joe’s silky vocals crooning “They say this is a big, rich town” our eardrums were attacked by Trey Songz instead. Finally, we get to hear from the singer himself about the whole ordeal.

50 Cent thought it was a good idea to breathe new life into the song by adding Trigga and A Boogie Wit Da Hoodie. The Southside Jamaica Queens rapper wanted to give fans something they could dance to with the remix of the shows iconic theme song. Fofty earlier this week took notice of the outrage and claimed he was going to bring the original song back, but he could have been trolling.

The “Don’t Wanna Be a Player” crooner finally chimed in on the matter Wednesday (August 28), and his reply was as smooth as one of his R&B hits.

“All in favor say I! FANS HAVE A LOT OF #power! Ya’ll are amazing! Will hit y’all once I’m settled in AFRICA @50cent – ALL LOVE – (we made a classic!) #power#powerthemesong #therealjoethomas”

While this isn’t really the outrage fans were looking for from the singer about his version of Power’s theme song being removed, you gotta respect him taking the high road. We just hope Curtis was serious about bringing the original version of “Big Rich Town” back because that remix was not it.

Joe Back?: 50 Cent Says He’s Bringing OG “Big Rich Town” Back After Backlash

50 Cent Says He Is Bringing Back Original "Big Rich Town" Song

Source: Bernard Smalls / @PhotosByBeanz

Fans were absolutely disgusted to learn that 50 Cent decided to change Power’s opening theme song featuring Joe with a remix nobody asked for. Fofty who always has his ear to the social media streets heard the screams of fans and says he is bringing the original version of “Big Rich Town” back.

Not a single soul was here for Trey Songz yodeling “they say this a Big, Rich Town,” not one. Before we got into the exploits of Ghost and Tommy, everyone sounded off on the terrible remix and 50’s awful decision to change the shows opening song. When asked about why he did it in the first place on the equally painful to watch aftershow, Power Confidential, he stated:

“I knew there would be resistance from the audience because they spent years with the other one. But it feels better, it feels good to me, something you can dance to a little more. Do something new, keep it fresh.”

Clearly, he hasn’t seen how the original song ring’s off in a club or at a party when a DJ plays it but anyway. Following the premiere of the show, he took to Instagram Live to speak on the backlash the song and Trey Songz was receiving. He clarified to his 24.5 million followers that Trigga did the song as a favor before saying he was going to bring back the original for the rest of season 6.

“Everybody talkin bout Trey Songz. Trey did that as a favor for me, man. I’m gonna have to put that motherf****r back the way it was [laughs].”

Now when it comes to Fifty, we don’t know if he is trolling or not. But we got our fingers crossed because we need to hear Joe singing that hook for the shows final season, it’s only right. Let this be a prime example of if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.

‘Power’ Debuts “Big Rich Town” Remix Nobody Asked For, Twitter Is Furious Trey Songz Is Yodeling

STARZ POWER Season 6 Red Carpet And Premiere Event At Madison Square Garden

Source: Jamie McCarthy / Getty

Fans have been waiting patiently for the return of Starz’s Power. They were immediately met with a big rich surprise when the first episode from the sixth and final season began.

Instead of hearing the smooth voice of Joe singing the hook, they were very disappointed to hear Trey Songz instead.

Power’s iconic opening theme song that features Joe singing “they say this is a big, rich town” has been ruined forever. For some strange reason, the show’s Executive Producer 50 Cent thought it would be a good idea to fix something that wasn’t broken. Wanting to bring in some new energy for Power’s final season, Curtis decided to remix “Big Rich Town.” Instead of keeping Joe on the track again, he enlisted Trey Songz to sing the classic hook.

As you can imagine, fans of the show were not thrilled with the decision and let their displeasure for the new version of the record be known. Trey Songz is catching all of the heat for the song, unfortunately. We are eagerly awaiting a response from the professional internet troll 50 Cent to the well-deserved hate “Big Rich Town” is receiving. Until that happens, you can hit the gallery below to see the hilarious reactions to the remix, not a single Power-watching soul asked for.
