Jemele Hill Launches New Podcast Network with Spotify

Jemele Hill

Jemele Hill’s partnership with Spotify is expanding. The Jemele Hill is Unbothered series will receive season three and Hill will have her own podcast network.

Titled The Unbothered Network, the podcast and production company will seek to elevate the voices, stories, agency, and nuance of Black women; an audience she often feels is chronically underserved across all mediums.

Hill, in partnership with her longtime representative Evan Dick (Exit 39), and a team of powerhouse creatives and executives, will create premium content that drives conversations and builds community, all through the power and intimacy of podcasting.

“The Unbothered Network is more than just a content hub, it’s a space where Black women can hopefully see their full selves,” said Jemele Hill. “There’s so much about the lives of Black women that haven’t been fully explored, and so many of our stories have either been dismissed or overlooked. I’m also proud of this network because it not only centers Black women, but it’s also run by Black women. We can’t empower Black women if we’re not positioning them in leadership roles.”

“We are thrilled to be expanding our partnership with the incomparable Jemele Hill,” said Courtney Holt, Head of Studios and Video, Spotify. “An acclaimed journalist, storyteller, podcaster, and creative — whose bold and authentic takes on social politics, sports and culture have shined a spotlight on topics that are often overlooked. We can’t wait for her to continue her podcast, and bring new and diverse talent to her network that amplifies and strengthens the voices of this important community.”

Jemele Hill & Charlamagne Tha God Clown Trump For Wig Malfunction During Debate

cc bet e

Tuesday’s Presidential debate was a hot mess rooted in rambunctious verbal chaos. At times there occurred to be two separate debates: Donald Trump vs Former VP Joe Biden and Trump vs Moderator, Chris Wallace.

It was a shouting match. Wallace informed each candidate to avoid interrupting each other. Trump simply ignored the rules and interrupted the former Vice President throughout the night. In one instance, Biden attempted to encourage the American people to vote, but Trump stormed in with more interference. Biden annoyingly responded, “Would you just shut up man?”

Renowned sports journalist Jemele Hill and radio personality Charlamagne Tha God both shared their thoughts on Tuesday night’s debate. Hill has been on record calling Trump’s white supremacist agenda. The Trump administration seemed to have a problem with Hill’s truthful statements, calling her former employer, ESPN to it a fire her back in 2017.

Trump’s white supremacy was corroborated when he failed to condemn white supremacist groups during the debate.

Instead, he urged white supremacist groups like the “Proud Boys” to “stand back and standby.”

Charlamagne Tha God has been rightfully critical of both candidates and characterizes Trump as a narcissist. His smug was only full display last not.

The lack of information from last night’s debate led to another subject of Trump’s taxes and his hair.

“Trump supposedly spent $70,000 on his hair and his tracks showing. The ghetto,” tweeted Hill.

Reports recently leaked of Trump’s hair budget. To Hill’s point, a five figure hair-do should not have those type of deficiencies. Charlamagne took to his IG, piggy-backing Hill’s ridicule of 45.

“What’s a nice way to tell your president his tracks are showing??? Let’s discuss…..”

After last night’s debacle, it is highly unlikely that anyone is looking forward to another debate. This is only the first round of three. We continue to urge everyone to get out and vote on Tuesday, Nov. 3rd.

Jemele Hill Shares Epic Wedding Video, Of Course It Was A Blast From Black Pop Culture Past

In case you have been under a rock, Jemele Hill and her long-time boyfriend are now husband and wife. Over the weekend, Hill and “Ol Boy,” Ian Wallace, made it official and jumped the broom. The ex-ESPN host now a staff writer at The Atlantic dropped an epic wedding video showing off her big day.

Hill couldn’t put into words how epic her wedding was that took place at Monarch Beach Resort in Dana Point, California, so she decided a video could better explain things. With the help of @MyTouch_Weddings — who also filmed the couples spectacular engagement video — hopped behind the camera again to capture the Hill and Wallace’s wedding day.

Those who have been following Hill know she is big on Black pop culture, so it should come as no surprise that her wedding video opened up like the club scene from the cult classic film Belly. With Soul II Soul‘s classic tune “Back To Life” serving as the soundtrack, we see each of them get ready for their big day before witnessing the newly married couple get down with guests.

In the clip, we see Hill’s old His and Hers co-host, Michael Smtih, and friend Gabrielle Union and others dancing alongside the newlyweds. They also got Musiq Soulchild to perform his impressive lineup of wedding songs at the reception.

Speaking exclusively with our friends at Bossip, Hill revealed that the Detroit natives wanted to make sure their home state was well represented on their wedding day.

“We were very intentional with everything we did. We wanted to bring Detroit to LA. That’s why we had DJ Kutz, who is from Detroit, come in and turn this wedding into a Detroit-style party. We wanted to laugh, love, and for guests to have the time of their lives.”

Based on the video alone, Hill and Wallace were successful in accomplishing the goal they set for their wedding. Congrats to the beautiful couple.

Jemele Hill Says Florida Officials Told Her She Couldn’t Vote in the State Over a Tweet

When it comes to politics, no other state gets think wrong more often than Florida. Former outspoken ESPN anchor Jemele Hill claimed Florida voting officials removed her name from state registration rolls because of a tweet supporting Democratic gubernatorial candidate Andrew Gillum.

Hill wrote Tuesday in The Atlantic that Florida election officials removed her from the state’s voter rolls because she tweeted she had moved to Los Angeles. Hill, who owns a home in Florida and is registered to vote there, flew back to the state from California on Oct. 21 in order to vote for Democratic gubernatorial candidate  Gillum in the 2018 midterm elections, as she revealed on social media.

“When I showed up at the polling site near my house, I had been kicked off the registered-voter roll,” Hill explained in the article. “A flurry of phone calls, and lots of head-nodding and “mmm-hmm”s from the supervisor of the polling site, failed to produce an explanation of why the system wasn’t showing me as a registered voter.”

What Hill and election officials later concluded is a tweet mentioning her support for the Tallahassee mayor is what got her booted from the record books. Clearly, the tweet apparently drove Trump supporters to report Hill for voter fraud, causing her to be wiped from the system.

We live in a political climate where the president can tweet whatever he wants with no repercussions, but a journalist is held to a higher standard?

Ex-ESPN Host Jemele Hill Heads To ‘The Atlantic’

Jemele Hill

That didn’t take long. After recently saying “peace out” to ESPN, Jemele Hill has a new gig at The Atlantic

Yesterday (Oct. 1), the publication made the announcement that Hill would be getting down as a staff writer. Hill will be tasked with “covering the intersection of sports, race, politics, gender, and culture,” per the Atlantic‘s editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg.

“The Atlantic made perfect sense to me because during this period, it’s critical to be aligned with people who understand this mission: Sports is a great entry point for exploring what’s happening in the wider society,” said Hill via a press release. “You can’t talk about sports without talking about race, class, gender and politics. I want to explore the complications and discomforts with a publication that has a long history of supporting this kind of work.”

Recently, Hill departed ESPN but not before securing a sizeable bag. Reportedly her buyout from the network, where she worked for over a decade, was worth a cool $6 million.

Hill became a flashpoint at ESPN after her comments regarding NFL protests got her suspended and even the attention of Donald Trump and the White House.

Nevertheless, she was named the 2018 Journalist of the Year by the NABJ.

Hill starts her new job at the Atlantic next week and she will be based out of Los Angeles.
