Drake Is Feeding Us More Than Music with Latest Chicken Chain Investment

Drake Chicken Chain

Drake is taking over streaming platforms and now appetites.

On Monday, Bloomberg reported that the Toronto native has invested in Dave’s Hot Chicken, which is based in California.

According to the report, Drake will have a minority stake in the chicken chain, giving him less than 50-percent ownership.  With the move, the Certified Lover Boy stands alongside Boston Red Sox Chairman Tom Werner and actor Samuel L. Jackson as the three big-name investors in Dave’s Hot Chicken.

Launched in 2017, as a pop-up the chicken spot now has 22 locations. Largely based in California with plans of opening 25 more by the end of the year, with expansion to cities including Chicago and Houston.

Drizzy posted himself on IG pictured with chicken tenders, pickles and fries from Dave’s. “I tried the food and it was amazing. After meeting the founders and hearing their story, I jumped at the opportunity to invest,” Drake said in a statement.

The news follows Drake’s second week on the top spot on the Billboard 200 charts. According to Billboard, Drake’s CLB total has surpassed 849,000 in sales. The “Way 2 Sexy” singer should see platinum status before the month’s end.

A new app is hoping to bring outdoor camping to wider audiences by way of a similar model to temporary lodging company Airbnb. Hipcamp just received a big round of funding from several investment partners, including Jay-Z and Will Smith.

On Tuesday (August 13), Alyssa Ravasio, the CEO and founder of Hipcamp, announced the involvement of Jay-Z’s Marcy Venture Partners, and Will Smith’s Dreamers Fund. According to a publicist’s e-mail, the Brooklyn business mogul’s group invested $1 million, adding to an overall $25 million dollar funding round that was announced around three weeks ago.

From Ravasio’s blog post on Hipcamp:

Today, I’m beyond honored to welcome Marcy Venture Partners and Dreamers Fund to the Hipcamp community. Marcy Venture Partners is co-founded by Shawn Carter (“Jay-Z”), Jay Brown, and Larry Marcus, and Dreamers Fund is co-founded by Will Smith, Keisuke Honda, Kosaku Yada, and Takeshi Nakanishi. Through our partnership with the Cultural Leadership Fund, we’re proud to collaborate with some of the world’s most influential cultural leaders, taking a major step toward achieving our mission to get more people outside. Our vision for Hipcamp is to fundamentally shift culture in a way that fosters widespread connections to the outdoors, encompassing every person who needs to breathe fresh air and directly experience nature’s awe-inspiring impact.

Considering that people young and old are looking for ways to incorporate the outdoors more into their lives, this could prove to be a fruitful venture for Hov and the Fresh Prince. Hipcamp provides campers options for over 300,000 campsites, public parks, RVs and more.

New Investement App Otis Wants To Turn Aficionados Into Shareholders

New Investment App Otis Lets Users Invest In Rare Items

Source: OTIS / OTIS

Imagine being able to not just own a rare piece of art, an elusive pair of sneakers or the first edition of a comic book but to also own a share of it. A new investment app called Otis wants to make that happen for users.

Officially launched on July 9, Otis turns aficionados into shareholders. Starting as low as $10 per share, art enthusiasts will be able to invest in a specially curated selection of comics, sneakers, and other items.

As part of the apps inaugural launch, items such as artworks by Kehinde Wiley, KAWS, Takashi Murakami, Rolex Daytona watches, Supreme Skateboard decks and The Incredible Hulk comics and more help kick things off.

Per an email statement:

“The brand’s goal is to democratize access to wealth by allowing everyday millennials to invest in alternative assets typically only obtainable by the wealthiest 1%. The idea is also that the investments are as much personal gains as they are financial because you’re investing in items that you both care about and understand, with stories to tell rather than just symbols on a stock ticker.”

Before users can invest in the item, each potential investment will be available for preview. On the app, potential investors can see detailed information like the value of the particular product, the price per share, and its cultural importance.

Otis is now available to download in the Apple Store, and Google Play. To learn more about Otis, you can head to the official website for more information.

Happy investing.
