D-Nice Breaks Instagram Less Than 1 Hour Into His Virtual Party

So many people are having virtual concerts and performances… but none have broke the Instagram.

Well… not until D-Nice started his Friday evening “Homeschoolin’: Social Distancing Dance Party.”

About a half an hour in the digital dance party, stars and influencers like J- Lo, Gabby Union, Will Packer, MC Lyte, Everlast, Posdunous, Sheri Riley, Shanti Das, Blue Williams, Erick Sermon, AJ Calloway, Tanika Ray and more were rocking out in the Virtual VIP section. At some point there was an HBCU shout out, with Howard and Hampton holding court, Morehouse being bossy, FAMU rocking the spot and women of Spelman flooding the comment sections with blue hearts (blue and red to be exact #BlueElephants #HK).

D-Nice rocked some classic r&b jams and some old school hits. People were delighted to hear Heavy D and Phife (of Tribe Called Quest) responding with the appropriate teardrops or RIP. But that did not kill the vibe. Quite the contrary, nothing but love and positivity was in the air.

And then the comments stopped.

No one could see any new comments or read them. While you could still hear the joints playing, but the party was on hold. Insta-Live shut down. Essentially, the celebrity record spinner broke the feature on the social media platform… with only 3,000 people on. D-Nice had to shut down and start back up and within 25 minutes later, all 3000 was back jamming.

Attorney Matt Middleton joked, “Way over the capacity today, who’s at the door?” to which his Howard brother, AJ Calloway responded, “Let everyone in!” Yes, let them in.

Uncle Luke, Russell Simmons, Diddy, Dapper Dan, Rob Morgan, Mary J. Blige, DJ Khaled, Drake, T.I., Kelly Rowland, Common, Black Thought, Queen Latifah, Traci Ellis Ross, DJ Premier, Swizz Beatz, Steve Stoute, Champ Rockwell, Yvette Noel Schure, Erykah Badu, Fat Joe, Jay Electronica, PNB Rock, Nile Rogers, Fonzworth Bentley, Marisa Tomei, Victor Cruz, Karruenche Tran, Ciara, Angie Martinez, Groove Theory’s Bryce, Tank, Cam’ron, Ludacris, Fabolous, Dorian Missick, DJ Don Demarco, Jada Kiss, Kwamé, Bresha Webb, Jermaine Dupri, Vanessa Williams, El Debarge, DJ Aktive, Mad Skillz, Lee Daniels, Affion Crockett, Ro James, D-Dot Angeletii, James Lopez, Mark Pitts, Kenny Burns, Tuma Basa, Tika Sumpter, Marlon Wayans, Lauren London, Lonnie Love, Dallas Austin, Steve Lobel, June Ambrose, April Walker, Just Blaze, Kangol Kid from UTFO, Biggs Burke, Naomi Campbell, Roland Martin, Jayson Jackson, DJ Trauma, Lil Jon, Mike Kyser, Dule Hill, Marsai Martin, Lance Gross, Anthony Hamilton, Marcella Precise, and Monifa are a part of the crowd that bum-rushed the dancefloor the second time around.

Even legendary party promoter Jessica Rosenbaum came through with the co-sign! #Flashback to the best parties of the 90s.

The best way to spend your quarantine time… Gen Z basically knows how to party like no other generation.

D-Nice Rocks a Virtual House Party and All Your Favorite Stars Show Up and Show Out

It was like being at the Palladium! The Red Zone! The Garage! The Warehouse! Plastics! The Tunnel!!!

And it was all generated from the comfort of your home, and in the convenient locale of your telephone. D-Nice did what few DJs ever have done, but he opened his home for that old school party jam at 6 pm EST and rocked out into well into the night with his “Homeschoolin’: Social Distancing Dance Party.” He plans to continue doing to shake off the doldrums that has had so many locked up in their homes with nothing to do.

But he saved the day.

Who is D-Nice? Well, Derrick “D-Nice” Jones originally was a part of one of Hip-Hop’s most legendary crews, Boogie Down Productions, as one of their principal DJs. One of the best personalities ever, he has checked several meaningful boxes throughout the culture: DJ, Emcee, Producer, Photographer, and Influencer.

Now that you know who he is… what does he do?

D-Nice gets busy. And for the last two days, he has been doing, doing, doing it until his Instalive fam was satisfied.

For hours he rocked jams from every era that has touched the Hip-Hop enthusiast and he did it live from his living room in his sport out in Los Angeles. He did the one thing that so many believe could never be done: He connected technology with legacy.

Legend after legend has joined the party! He has had visits from Unsigned Hype Alum Common, Mary J. Blige, Russell “Uncle Rush” Simmons, Black Thought, Damien Hall, Naomi Campbell, Quest Love, Joe Budden, Big Daddy Kane, Fat Joe, John Legend, Spice Adams and soooo many more!

He will be back at it tomorrow, Friday (and maybe every day ever after) until we get through this… one turntable at a time! Rock with him on his Instagram @dnice at 6 pm EST (3 PST) and see exactly what a real party supposed to feel like.
