CeeLo Congratulates Big Boi’s Super Bowl Halftime Performance: ‘F–k These So-Called Protestors’

Before Colin Kaepernick took a knee during the National Anthem to peacefully protest against police brutality, performing for the Super Bowl’s halftime performance was an accomplishment for artists.

Many performers including JAY-Z, Cardi B, and Pink turned down the opportunity to perform for this year’s show in their support for Kap or their fear of public criticism.

At the end of the day, the show went on and Maroon 5 took the stage alongside Travis Scott and Big Boi. CeeLo made a point to congratulate the Atlanta native for his performance and also shaded these “so-called” NFL protestors.

“Yo big we riding wit you fam DO THAT SHIT! Fuck these so called protesters you just got 100m worth of press. I’ll kill for you,” CeeLo wrote on Twitter.

Travis Scott Reportedly Agreed to Perform for Super Bowl if NFL Donates to Social Justice Cause

Travis Scott and Big Boi are confirmed to join Maroon 5 to perform for the Super Bowl halftime show. But La Flame only hopped on board under one condition: The NFL donated to a social justice cause.

Scott was confirmed to perform since December, but the donation was required for it to be final. The ASTROWORLD rapper plans to partner with the league to donate half a million to Dream Corps, among other charitable endeavors.

The donation arrives after the Friday launch of the NFL’s “Inspire Change” initiative.

Travis Scott agreeing to participate in the show was controversial due to the Black community’s support of Colin Kaepernick. Meek Mill tweeted that he didn’t understand why the Houston rapper accepted the gig.

Al Sharpton told TMZ, “I think anyone that goes into the halftime show is in effect directly violating those that want to raise the question that the NFL should come to terms with what they have done and continue to do to Colin Kaepernick and those that protest on criminal justice issues.”

A number of artists reportedly tuned down the offer in support of Kaepernick including, JAY-Z, Rihanna, and Cardi B.

Rihanna Reportedly Snubbed the Super Bowl Halftime Performance

Rihanna reportedly turned down the NFL.

As per Us Weekly, the Anti singer was allegedly offered to perform during the Super Bowl LIII halftime, but she declined the offer out of support for Colin Kaepernick.

Cardi B, Travis Scott Rumored to Perform at 2019 Super Bowl Halftime

Many Hip Hop fans (and Waka Flocka Flame) were upset when news broke that Maroon 5 has been confirmed as the entertainers for the 2019 NFL Super Bowl Halftime Show in Atlanta this year. Luckily for the Hip Hop fans, Cardi B and Travis Scott are rumored to be on the short list of guests to perform with the band.

As per a Sept. 20 report from Billboard, official guest haven’t been confirmed, but Bardi and La Flame are two of the fans who are allegedly being considered. The NFL fueled the rumor in a comment made in a statement to the publication but left details under wraps.

“It’s a Super Bowl tradition to speculate about the performers for the Pepsi Halftime Show,” it reads. “We are continuing to work with Pepsi on our plans but do not have any announcements to make on what will be another epic show.”

Cardi B would make sense considering that she has a song with Maroon 5 which is presently No. 2 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Given her connections to Atlanta through her husband, Offset, many have speculated that should Cardi show up, she could bring out Migos also.

Waka Flocka Drags NFL for not Selecting an Atlanta Artist for 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show

Maroon 5 is set to perform at the 2019 Super Bowl Halftime Show, but every person is not feeling the NFL’s decision of entertainment. Considering the big game is happening in Atlanta, Waka Flocka thought it will be fit to have an Atlanta artist like Migos, Future, or himself to represent.

Talking with TMZ on Wednesday (Sept. 19), Waka said it wasn’t reasonable for the association to pick an artist that doesn’t hail from the Georgia city. “I think the Super Bowl, you should have somebody that’s from Atlanta, representing Atlanta… They need somebody from Atlanta, it’s only right,” he said. “It’s not fair, but this the NFL we talkin’ about—they’re not fair.”

Waka likewise pointed at the NFL’s issues with Colin Kaepernick and said the group could have made a greater effort to support him. “You’re coming to the biggest Black state in America,” the rapper continued. “Why wouldn’t you let a Black artist perform and show the world that we’re progressing? That’s not cool.”

While Migos and Future undoubtedly won’t be at the show, another report from Billboard suggests that Cardi B and Travis Scott could be joining Maroon 5 in Atlanta. Cardi has worked with the group for their hit single, “Girls Like You.”
