SOURCE SPORTS: Suns Win Game 1 Of The NBA Finals 118-105

Suns Finals Opener

The Phoneix Suns went on a third-quarter eruption on their way to defeat the Milwaukee Bucks 118-105 Tuesday night in game 1 of the 2021 NBA Finals played in Phoenix Suns Arena.

By the end of the third period, the Suns’ trio of Chris Paul, Devin Booker, and Deandre Ayton had already combined for 67 points, 27, 22, and 18 respectively.

“I saw the shots they were giving me, and I just started making them,” said the 17-year vet in a post-game interview.” It’s just one game, we got to stay locked in. We got one, we got to get another one.”

The lead extended to as many 20 points 88-66, and Suns point guard Chris Paul, who finished the game with 32 points and nine assists, anchored the third-quarter avalanche by scoring 16 points.

The Bucks began to show life in the fourth quarter to cut the lead down to 7 points after a 7-foot jumper by Jrue Holiday, a layup by Kris Middleton, Byran Forbes three-pointer, and a second chance layup by Giannis Antetokounmpo. That brought the score to 101-94 with 7:16 left to go.

Pheonix quieted the storm with a Booker three off, and the Suns took control of the rest of the game. Booker finished with 27 points six assists, and Ayton had 22 points and 19 rebounds.

Middleton led the Bucks with 29 points and seven rebounds, and Antetokounmpo added 20 points and 17 rebounds.

The two teams exchanged buckets for the most part in the first quarter, but the Suns did enough to hold a 4-point 30-26 advantage.

The Suns doubled their lead in the second quarter as they went into the half with an 8-point 57-49 lead, but the Bucks had no answer for the Suns in the third.

Midway through the quarter, the Suns took off and doubled their point total. They led by 16 with 4:41 to go in the third quarter and closed with the quarter leading by 17.

James Harden Claps Back At Giannis Antetokounmpo As NBA Beef Heats Up

69th NBA All-Star Game

It appears that a feud between two of the NBA’s top stars is brewing between the pair of MVP candidates in James Harden and Giannis Antetokounmpo. With the second half of the season underway with The Beard and the Greek Freak doing their best to bring their respective teams to glory, the two have traded public jabs with NBA Twitter reacting in kind.

Antetokounmpo took the first shot during the NBA All-Star game selection, egged on by Charles Barkley. The Milwaukee Bucks superstar selected Boston Celtics star Kemba Walker to join his All-Star team over Harden after Chuck called Harden a “dribbler” which got a laugh. But it was Antetokounmpo saying that he wanted “somebody that’s going to pass the ball” that got a rise out of Harden.

Harden sat down for an exclusive interview with EPSN and Rachel Nichols, responding to the shot by saying, “I wish I could just run and be 7 feet and just dunk. Like that takes no skill at all,” Harden said. “I gotta actually learn how to play basketball, how to have skill. I take that any day.”

Yikes.

On top of that, the idea that Walker shares the ball more than Harden got shot down as the Houston Rockets star averages more dimes per game. Can’t deny those facts. The fact remains that as league superstars, but players get a lot of favorable treatment from officials according to fans and for whatever reason, basketball fans love picking apart Harden’s game despite his obvious talent.

It isn’t known if Giannis has fired back a shot yet but the chatter on Twitter has been ongoing all day and we’ve got those comments listed below.

LeBron James & Giannis Antetokounmpo Named NBA All-Star 2020 Captains For Second Straight Year

LeBron James & Giannis Antetokounmpo Headline NBA All-Star 2020 Starters

Source: Kevork Djansezian / Getty

When NBA’s 69th All-Star game tips off in Chicago, Sunday, February 16, we know who the starters will be on the court for the league’s grand showcase of its talent.

For a second straight year, LeBron James (6,275,459 fan votes) and the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo (5,902,286 fan votes) will be the captains of their conferences respective teams. As leading vote-getters, they will be tasked for selecting the players out of the pool of the starters that named alongside the announcement of them earning captain honors. The All-Star draft will officially go down on Feb. 6 on TNT at 7 p.m. ET.

Fans make up 50 percent of the vote while media panels and NBA players respectively account for 25 percent each.

Joining Bron Bron (Captain) as West All-Star starters, his teammate Anthony Davis, James Harden, Kawhi Leonard, and first-time all-star, Dallas Mavericks phenom, Luka Dončić (6,111,735 fan votes).

For the East All-Star starters, we Giannis (Captain), Joel Embiid, Pascal Siakim, who earned a starting spot in his first all-star appearance, Kemba Walker and Trae Young  (2,829,969 fan votes) also a first-time all-star.

As expected as the news was announced, Young, Siakim, and Dončić all were emotional to learn voters bestowed upon them such an honor.

Of course, with these announcements, there comes some head-scratching from NBA fans as well. Some believe Portland Trailblazer’s Damian Lillard and the Miami Heat’s Jimmy Butler deserved starting nods, but with a league so loaded with talent, it’s understandable how they could be snubbed.

BUT that does not mean they won’t be on Chicago’s United Center court during the All-Star game. Butler and Lillard are one of the many names who are definite locks when the All-Star reserves are announced next Thursday (Jan.30) exclusively on TNT.

Names like Bam Adebayo, Washington’s Bradley Beal, Philadelphia’s Ben Simmons, Boston’s Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum, Indiana’s Domantas Sabonis and Toronto’s Kyle Lowry, as well as Butler, lead the list of potential reserves from the Eastern Conference.

Over in the Western Conference Denver’s Nikola Jokic, Portland’s Damian Lillard, Oklahoma City’s Chris Paul, the Clippers’ Paul George, Houston’s Russell Westbrook, Utah’s Rudy Gobert, and Donovan Mitchell are strong contenders for reserve spots.

TNT’s Inside The NBA crew unveiled their picks of NBA All-Star reserves, which should also spark some serious debate.

As for who the captains will select for their teams that is still up in the air, LeBron hinted he is not playing favorites when asked if he would choose his Lakers’ teammate, Anthony Davis, with his first pick.

Well, we will just have to wait and see, it looks like we should expect a great All-Star game though. One thing we do know is what sneakers to see on some of the player’s feet when they take the court. You can see the full lineup of kicks coming from Jordan Brand and Nike Basketball when you head here.

USWNT, Saquon Barkley, Giannis Antetokounmpo, Bill Russell Win Big At 2019 ESPY Awards

The Full List of Winners From The 2019 ESPY Awards

Source: Kevin Winter / Getty

The ESPYS, the annual awards show where ESPN recognizes the biggest names in the sports world as well as the jaw-dropping moments that had us screaming at our television screens took place last night in Los Angeles. With Tracy Morgan handling hosting duties for the 2019 edition of the ESPN owned awards show, it was another night full of memorable moments.

Before the awards were handed out, Morgan kicked things off with a monologue that was met with mixed reviews for the most part on Twitter. While using his comedic prowess to break down the year in sports, Morgan also found time to make light of his near-death experience after being involved in a deadly crash.

If you didn’t change the channel, you would have caught the most significant moment of the night. Fresh off from celebrating their World Cup victory with a ticker-tape parade in NYC, the USWNT arrived fashionably late to pick up their ESPY hardware. Orlando Pride forward, Alex Morgan took home Female Athlete of the Year honors joking with the crowd: “Sorry, but this is the second best trophy we won this week.” Her team was honored later that night winning Best Team beating out other notable franchises The Boston Red Sox, New England Patriots, and Toronto Raptors. Drake was probably somewhere upset but based on the ladies winning on a global stage, it is understandable why they gave Team USA the ESPY.

Other winners include the Greek Freak, Giannis Antetokounmpo taking home Best Male Athlete, New York Giants RB Saquon Barkley winning Best Breakthrough Athlete, Bill Russell honored with the Arthur Ashe award and Rob Mendez, a football coach who was born with no legs and arms receiving this year’s Jimmy V Award.

Well it’s about time damn time. Nike got around to revealing 2019 NBA MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo‘s first proper signature sneaker, the Zoom Freak 1.

The Milwaukee Bucks and Greek stars shoe features all the bells and whistles you would expect for a shoe catered to an insanely elite athlete. The Zoom Freak 1 features double-stacked Zoom Air units under the heel, a multidirectional traction pattern to aid with his Euro steps and an internal containment system to his foot in place. There is also lateral support thanks to a rubber clip that extends from the outsole to the midsole.

As for the shoe’s low profile, thank Kobe Bryant. “Since I was little, I have been wearing KOBE shoes,” says Giannis in a press statement. “The fit, feel and function has always been comfortable for me.”

Also, keying on his Greek and Nigerian roots, Nike and Giannis created a full range of logos, patterns and typography for his brand.

The Air Zoom Freak 1, as well as his first wave of apparel, will be available June 29. Check out detailed photos below. The colorful “All Bros” colorway homage to his ball playing siblings just dropped on SNKRS.

Ja Rule Calls Out TMZ For Trying To Spark A Fake Beef W/ NBA Star: “They Trying To Bait Him”

Ja Rule

New York rapper Ja Rule is calling out the fakery. The hip-hop veteran has singled out gossip publication TMZ for trying to get NBA heavyweight Giannis “Greek Freak” Antetokounmpo to trash him following a recent Milwaukee Bucks game performance.

Rule hit up Instagram to salute Giannis and salute him for not feeding into the media outlet’s antics.

This week, the rapper’s arch nemesis 50 Cent went to Instagram and clowned him over getting the silent treatment at a Milwaukee Bucks arena performance.

A few days ago, Rule hit up his social media channels to address online bashing.
