Cardi B Defends Female Rappers Using Ghostwriters Amid ‘Act Up’ Controversy

There’s a surge of female rappers rising from different parts of the world, and some controversy has emerged with it including ghostwriting.

Ghostwriting has always been shamed in Hip Hop, with the exception of female rappers, but it is normalized in the millennial Hip Hop game. Ghostwriters became a hot debate after Lil Yachty revealed that he was the main writer for City Girls’ smash hit, “Act Up.”

The duo doubled down on the claims and featured their label mate in the music video where he flexes his songwriting and cadence set up for Yung Miami to recite.

Despite the single’s success, there are still some people who want to deduct points because it wasn’t fully written by the Miami rap duo. A few leading ladies of the female Hip Hop circle took their stance including Caresha herself. She was prompted to sound off after an Instagram user boasted that JT is the rap talent keeping the City Girls afloat. “And you still know my sh** word for word NEXT,” she clapped back.

Cardi B had her follow up and defended Yung Miami’s claims. “I bet you rap that whole f**king song with your whole motherf**king heart, b**ch!” Cardi said. “I bet you use they accent though! You not using Lil Yachty accent, you using they accent! The f**k! Y’all be singing that song with y’all whole f**king chest. Y’all b**ches be hating.”

Other femcees chimed in like Asian Da Brat and Megan Thee Stallion who have both made it clear that they pen their own rhymes.

Lupe Fiasco Claims Record Label Wanted Him to Use Ghostwriters

Lupe Fiasco is one of the most renown lyricists in the game. His reputation as a top tier MC has been set in stone since he debuted in 2006. With his skills, lyricism is the last thing in the world that you would think Lupe would need help creating.

Lupe made these claims on his own social media. In a video he posted to Twitter on Wednesday (March 20), the Chicago rapper calls out Atlantic for allegedly trying to change his image and stifle his creativity. But the true bombshell is that he alleges that the brass over at Atlantic tried to convince the “Hip-Hop Saved My Life,” MC to employ the assistance of ghostwriters to ensure his success.

“Atlantic is so filthy with the shit, that they would turn around and have a team of writers, a team of producers waiting for you! So, once you go through the meeting, they strip away all your esteem, they strip away all your confidence and your own work,” Fiasco says in the video. “They send you right to the studio with the hot producer of the time with the creative team and the writers, and they got whole songs waiting on you. And for some niggas, they even got their raps waiting on you! You won’t believe the phone calls I got in the middle of the night from niggas talking about, ‘Man I want you to come into the studio but let me write all your shit!’”

Lupe has had major issues with Atlantic Records, his former label. On his latest project, Drogas Wave, he released it on his own imprint 1st and 15th productions.

Kanye West Admits To Using Ghostwriters

For those Yeezy fans who may have thought different, it’s true. Kanye West does NOT write all of his rhymes.

Among all of the other controversial tweets that Ye sent out this week, one that may have slipped under the radar was the one where the Chi-Town emcee admitted that “Violent Crimes” on this year’s Ye album was written by one of his trusty penmen.

Even though it’s a well known fact that West employed RhymeFest to write his epic “Jesus Walks” hit ,but now Yandhi has no problem admitting it.

With CyHi(CyHi da Prynce), Cons(Consequence) and Pardi(Pardison Fontaine) scribing Kanye’s darts, he has a lot more time on his hands to piss people off in the political arena with his pro-MAGA views in alliance with President Trump.

Does ‘Rap Devil’ Wikipedia Page Reveal That MGK Had Ghostwriters For His Eminem Diss Track?

In several unnamed and inconspicuous Hip-Hop circles, it has apparently come to the surface that Machine Gun Kelly is not the author of his vicious lyrical attack against rap veteran Eminem entitled “Rap Devil”.

In a side-by-side compare and contrast image of “Rap Devil” by MGK and “Killshot” by Eminem shows Colson Baker, which is MGK’s given name and Ronald Spence Jr., who is suspected to be Kelly’s ghostwriter.

Em’s “Killshot” credits only read “Marshall Mathers” as songwriter.

Whether or not MGK just had assistance or had Spence write the entire song is still being analyzed and researched, but either way, in the rap game, it never looks good in the heat of battle.
