What a way to stir up the conversation at the Thanksgiving table. Funk Flex hit X after Drake set the streets on fire with the legal actions he filed, revealing the cost of pay-for-play. His conclusion, “DRAKE IS 100% RIGHT. NATIONAL PLAY.”

And then he rolled out the prices.

Drake has launched a second legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG), this time accusing the music giant of defamation and claiming it failed to halt the release of Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us,” which he alleges falsely accuses him of being a sex offender.

This new filing, submitted late Monday and made public on Tuesday, follows a previous legal action in New York, where Drake accused UMG of unlawfully promoting Lamar’s song on Spotify.

In the new filing, Drake’s legal team provides further details regarding his grievances with UMG, which is his record label for his entire career. According to the filing, UMG was aware that Lamar’s song contained accusations labeling Drake as a “certified pedophile” and “predator,” yet chose to release it anyway. “UMG could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed,” the document states. “But UMG chose to do the opposite, designing and financing a plan to turn ‘Not Like Us’ into a viral mega-hit, using the harm caused to Drake and his businesses to drive consumer hysteria and massive revenues.”

Like the filing in New York, the Texas petition is not a formal lawsuit but a pre-action filing intended to collect depositions from critical figures at UMG and iHeartRadio. The goal is to gather more evidence to support a defamation claim and potentially lead to additional allegations of civil fraud and racketeering.

Though Lamar is not named in the petition and is not accused of any legal wrongdoing, Drake’s legal team asserts that UMG knew the song, along with its album art and music video, would tarnish Drake’s reputation by falsely linking him to criminal sexual acts. The petition further accuses UMG of giving Lamar an unfair advantage in their competition, prioritizing one artist over another through illegal means.

UMG and iHeartRadio have not responded to requests for comment on the filing.

NYC radio personality Funkmaster Flex has never pulled any punches when it comes to his opinion about music and it hasn’t stopped with one of the most successful singles of the year.

Flex took to the HOT 97 airwaves this past weekend to review the popular track and the legendary NYC DJ had nothing good to say about Richman’s song, calling it “trash” as shown below when an X user recorded Flex’s radio commentary.

Flex admitted that he doesn’t know and hasn’t heard of any other songs from the VA-born artist, who has been making music since 2016. Flex ended his rant by labeling the song hot garbage, but stillproceeded to play the record, presumably under the program director’s demand.

Funk Flex Gives Props To Drake For Founding The Sing-Rap Flow

Funkmaster Flex Drake

in a recent interview with HotNewHipHop, New York City radio mainstay Funkmaster Flex spoke about the sing-song rap style that has been popularized in the game and says that the up-and-comers should salute Drake for their style and delivery.

While artists such as Future, Young Thug and even newcomer Morray have made successful careers from their melodic flows, Flex contends that Drake fathered all of their styles.

Drake has really fathered this amazing style of singing and rapping,” Flex says. “I think when it comes to Drake though he has a clearer line of this is when I’m rapping and this is when I’m singing. I don’t think they mesh as hard together in his music, but I do like it.”

Flex, who was always a critic of the Canadian-born rapper, admits that his talent is undeniable. “I have to be honest, he’s not made too many songs I don’t like,” Flex says. “I never want to take away from a person’s creativity. He has not made many songs – I think, when we talk about Drake sometimes you have to say, ‘Well, I like this one level ten, I like this one level nine, I like this one level eight.’”

Funkmaster Flex Accuses Jay-Z Of Cutting Deal With Trump For Roc Nation CEO Pardon

Screen Shot 2021 01 25 at 5.18.56 PM

Jay-Z and NYC radio mainstay Funkmaster Flex definitely have no love lost, but their tension was just magnified now that Flex has co-signed a report that Hov cut a deal with former president Donald Trump in order to orchestrate the clemency release of Roc Nation CEO Desiree Perez.

According to a report from Variety Magazine, Mr. Carter reportedly cut a secret deal with the Trump Administration that he and his wife Beyoncé would not publicly support Biden’s campaign in exchange for Perez’s presidential pardon.

Perez’s conviction could’ve stopped Jay-Z’s “Monogram” cannabis franchise, as California law prohibits a convicted felon from running a cannabis business.

Flex took the the ‘Gram, sharing an image of the New York Post cover story about Perez’s cocaine bust that led her to allegedly wearing wire taps to assist the Feds.

Flex is scheduled to discuss the alleged deal between Trump and Hov on his show on HOT 97 tonight at 7PM EST.

“Those New York n****s are gonna lose their fuckin’ minds!!” -Gillie Da King

As Gillie gave his Top 19 rapper list of all time and Flex questioned Gillie and Wallo267 on their Million Dollaz Worth Of Game podcast on IG, NYC’s most talked about DJ went out on a limb, stating that Drake was the best rapper of all time and yes, even better than Hov himself.

Even Gillie had to reiterate the question, to which Flex responded with an emphatic ‘Yes!” According to Flex, “the reference tracks changed everything!” See the excerpt from the podcast below.
