What a way to stir up the conversation at the Thanksgiving table. Funk Flex hit X after Drake set the streets on fire with the legal actions he filed, revealing the cost of pay-for-play. His conclusion, “DRAKE IS 100% RIGHT. NATIONAL PLAY.”

And then he rolled out the prices.

Drake has launched a second legal action against Universal Music Group (UMG), this time accusing the music giant of defamation and claiming it failed to halt the release of Kendrick Lamar’s track “Not Like Us,” which he alleges falsely accuses him of being a sex offender.

This new filing, submitted late Monday and made public on Tuesday, follows a previous legal action in New York, where Drake accused UMG of unlawfully promoting Lamar’s song on Spotify.

In the new filing, Drake’s legal team provides further details regarding his grievances with UMG, which is his record label for his entire career. According to the filing, UMG was aware that Lamar’s song contained accusations labeling Drake as a “certified pedophile” and “predator,” yet chose to release it anyway. “UMG could have refused to release or distribute the song or required the offending material to be edited and/or removed,” the document states. “But UMG chose to do the opposite, designing and financing a plan to turn ‘Not Like Us’ into a viral mega-hit, using the harm caused to Drake and his businesses to drive consumer hysteria and massive revenues.”

Like the filing in New York, the Texas petition is not a formal lawsuit but a pre-action filing intended to collect depositions from critical figures at UMG and iHeartRadio. The goal is to gather more evidence to support a defamation claim and potentially lead to additional allegations of civil fraud and racketeering.

Though Lamar is not named in the petition and is not accused of any legal wrongdoing, Drake’s legal team asserts that UMG knew the song, along with its album art and music video, would tarnish Drake’s reputation by falsely linking him to criminal sexual acts. The petition further accuses UMG of giving Lamar an unfair advantage in their competition, prioritizing one artist over another through illegal means.

UMG and iHeartRadio have not responded to requests for comment on the filing.

Boosie is Against Funk Flex Playing New 6ix9ine Music: ‘Ban All Rats’

Boosie In New Homophobic Rant: 'In 10 Years It Ain't Gonna Be Normal For a Kid To Be Straight'

Boosie Badazz is not here for Funk Flex, adding 6ix9ine singles back to his rotation.

Seeing the news online, Boosie hit Instagram comments and fired off a message in all caps.

“STICK TO IT FLEX WE NEED THIS [BAN] ALL THEM RATS,” Boosie wrote.

After previously banning the rapper due to snitching in the past, Funk Flex is reversing course, announcing he will add the rapper back to his Serato.

Funk Flex stated he spoke with Jim Jones, who stated there is no tolerance for testifying and cooperation. On his end, Flex revealed he is speaking for himself only and will play 6ix9ine’s music because a lot of current rappers are doing exactly what he did.

“Man who we kidding,” Flex wrote. “Its seems that these new rappers aint doing 10-20 years with / for anybody.”

He added, “Bobby Shmurda, Rowdy Rebel, Fetty Wap, Boosie, Albee Al, Casanova, Sheff G and Young Thug are the last of that stand up tradition.

6ix9ine u got new music? Send it! Thursday 7pm.”

Boosie has been pointing out all the rats. After Gunna was released from jail after taking an Alford plea to one count of racketeering, Boosie fired off a string of tweets.

Gunna released a statement regarding taking the Alford plea, saying, “I have chosen to end my own RICO case with an Alford plea and end my personal ordeal by publicly acknowledging my association with YSL.” Gunna added, “An Alford plea in my case is the entry of a guilty plea to the one charge against me, which is in my best interest, while at the same time maintaining my innocence toward the same charge.”

Funk Flex To Start Playing 6ix9ine’s Music Again Due To Other Rappers Cooperating in Investigations

Funk Flex on 6ix9ine's New Song: “I’m Not Going to Play This... BUT This is Thumping'

Funk Flex says he is getting back to spinning Tekashi 6ix9ine’s songs.

The same day as Flex’s announcement, Hip-Hop’s known informant hit Instagram to flex $1 million and let people in his hometown New York City know that he was on the way.

“On my way to New York. I got a million dollars on me and on my mother I’m by myself here’s what the jet lady texted me I copy and pasted it,” 6ix9ine wrote. “Arriving:6:45PM. Airport: signature flight. 1 Airport Rd, Morristown, NJ 07960. Well I’m with the kid who recorded this video but he’s like 5’4 140 solid I swear.”

In the picture, Tekashi is cuddled up with a million in cash on a private jet. The post was the latest effort to show that he isn’t scared to walk any street after snitching during the trial of the Nine Trey Gangsta Bloods.

Akademiks, 6ix9ine’s friend, saw the post and just offered a brief statement: “bad idea.”

Funk Flex Wants LL Cool J And DJ Akademiks To Have A Sit Down Over Ak’s “Dusty” Hip Hop Pioneer Comments

music funkmaster flex

DJ Akademiks has ruffled the feathers of the hip hop community following his remarks on hip hop pioneers, calling them “broke” and “dusty” and equating their influence to the amount of money they made during their career. LL Cool J called out Ak for his remarks, telling him that the state of rap was different years ago and that early rappers set the foundation for the culture that many profit off of today.

Following LL Cool J’s remarks, Funk Flex entered himself into the conversation, calling for a sit down between the hip hop legend and the podcaster.

funk flex ll cool j akademiks

“@LLCOOL J BREAKS DOWN THE CULTURE THEN AND NOW IN AMAZING FORM! PROBABLY ONE OF THE MOST AMAZING WORDS OF THE YEAR!” Flex said. “@AKADEMIKS LOVE MY BROTHER! I DIDN’T POST YOUR COMMENTARY BECAUSE I FELL IT WOULD BE MISS UNDERSTOOD!”

“YOU ARE ENTITLED TO YOUR OPINION! I AM A FAN OF YOUR PERSPECTIVE! I KNOW THAT SOME (NOT ALL) OF THE MORE ESTABLISHED VETERAN RAPPERS HAVE NOT EMBRACED U LIKE THEY SHOULD! LETS CHANGE THAT!”

Funk Flex continued, calling Ak the “voice of the youth” and invited him and LL Cool J to have a “non-confrontational” convo on his radio show or Akademik’s podcast.

“U ARE THE VOICE OF THE YOUTH! WE COULD LEARN FROM U AND U COULD LEARN FROM US! WOULD LOVE TO SEE AN ARTIST LIKE AN ALL OR ONE U CHOOSE TO HAVE A GREAT NON-CONFRONTATIONAL CONVO ON YOUR PLATFORM OR MINE!”

“WHICH EVER MAKES U COMFORTABLE…U FROM THE TOWN. YOUR VERY INFLUENTIAL. CANT HURT. IF THAT DOESNT WORK FOR U I UNDERSTAND! IF ME AND @WHOISCONWAY CAN AGREE TO DISAGREE ANYTHING IS POSSIBLE.”

Akademiks is not only under fire from LL Cool J because of his comments, but many veretan members of the hip hop community have an issue with Ak’s remarks as well. When talking to HipHopDX, Scorpio from Grandmaster Flash and The Furious 5 said he was very upset with Akademik’s remarks.

“It was so disrespectful and on top of it, to say, ‘Don’t come for me ’cause I don’t fuck with y’all’? It’s like, ‘OK, well, why don’t you fuck with us? What did we do to make you not want to fuck with us?’ You tryin’ to make it like we’re bums and shit, when we really built this industry.’”

Bay Area Rapper, Symba, Takes Aim At Funk Flex For 2Pac Comments In New Hot 97 Freestyle

symba 630x331 1

Funk Flex is well known for his very passionate takes on hip hop. One of his more famous, and controversial, takes happened when he was talking about how if 2Pac hadn’t of lied, then Biggie Small’s wouldn’t have gotten killed. “He lied!” Funk said about 2Pac.

Bay Area rapper, Symba, who has gotten cosigns from Dr. Dre, Lil Wayne, and others, headed up to Hot 97 where he had an interview with Funk Flex, and ended things off with a freestyle where he called out the legendary radio DJ for his comments about 2Pac.

“Flex, it’s an honor to meet you, but let’s be clear / I’ve done had a bone to pick with yo ass for four years / You’ve been a big part of this culture my whole life / So what I’m ’bout to say almost don’t feel right / You say some wild shit, most times you actually right / But all that disrespecting 2Pac shit stops tonight,” Symba rapped.

It seems as if his bars got Flex to fold as he interjected saying “Alright! Alright! I’ma stop! I won’t say nothing about him no more. They love him in The Bay! He stopped me today. Never more.” Flex then added “Rest in peace, 2Pac.”

However, Symba continued where he left off, rapping:

“As a West Coast nigga, ‘Pac gave all of us pride / That’s why when you said what you said we was surprised / How you wait 20-something years he died / To come on this muthafucka and keep screaming, ‘He lied!’”

“And he ain’t alive to tell his side / But I ain’t mad at you ’cause you was speaking your mind / To keep it real, you said what’s on half of these niggas’ minds / Just the next time you say it don’t sound like you ’bout to cry.”

Freddie Gibbs Thinks He And DJ Akademiks Can Make Amends, “We’d Probably Be Cool…”

Freddie Gibbs Responds to Gunna's Diss Tweet in a Series of Tweets

While he prepares for the release of his highly anticipated follow up to 2020’s critically acclaimed Alfredo, Freddie Gibbs has been dealing with beefs with Benny The Butcher and DJ Akademiks. He was even attacked and beaten up by Benny and his entourage at a barbeque restaurant.

In a clip for a new interview with Funkmaster Flex, the topic of DJ Akademiks comes up, and contrary to popular belief, Gibbs said that he thinks that if he and Ak sat down and had a conversation, then they would be cool with each other.

“I love Akademiks,” Gibbs said. “We gonna have a sit-down, but you had to get that shit for all that shit you’ve been kicking. You had to get that.”

Flex added that he admires Ak for speaking his mind, to which Gibbs agreed and said that he could see himself actually being friends with Ak. “I think if we were to have a conversation, we’d probably be cool, I take it too,” Gibbs said. “I’ll take everything he say, and I love it. But you gotta take it when I give back.”

Freddie’s beef with Ak started in 2020 after Ak responded to Gibbs calling his former label boss, Jeezy “irrelevant.” Ak commented “If Jeezy is irrelevant, Freddie Gibbs, you are absolutely irrelevant as well.”

Since then there has been an on and off beef between the two. While the beef has not been violent, it sure has been hilarious, with Gibbs making a humorous freestlye about Ak, saying that he was going to “squeeze [DJ Akademik’s] tittes,” and making “Fuck Akademiks” a popular phrase on social media.
