2 Chainz Is Now a Co-Owner of Atlanta’s A3C Festival

2 Chainz may be adding a few more chains to his collection following his latest lucrative investment. The Georgia-bred emcee is putting on for his home state by announcing that he just bought stake in ATL’s highly-popular music and tech festival A3C.

While music and technology are the two pillars of A3C, the three-day event serves up much more than that. For 15 years, the festival has been a breeding ground for cutting edge culture coming out of the South from all aspects: parties from day to night, a handful of speaker series, showcases, panels, comedy shows and even a $25,000 USD “pitch competition” for startups are just a portion of the massive amount of scheduled events. For 2 Chainz part, he’ll serve as a core curator as it relates to selecting speakers, performers and, according to his exclusive interview with Entrepreneur, will also stand in for the closing keynote for his inaugural year on board.

Here’s what he had to say about joining the A3C team, via Entrepreneur:

“I think investing is a good thing, period — especially anything involving a festival, music, something along those lines. I feel like A3C has the trajectory to be the next South by Southwest, as far as growing musical talent. We’re trying to implement more in the tech space, more in TV and film. So that’s where I see a value, and where I see an opening for me to get involved, to push the culture forward.”

We can’t wait to see what he does with the festival, which boasts an annual attendance of 30,000, especially with his many connections in the game. Sounds like a promising union!

Turn Up! Travis Scott Officially Announces ASTROWORLD Festival 2019

Continuing on one of the most successful album runs in music history with his third LP, Travis Scott has decided to extend ASTROWORLD to annual status by announcing that ASTROWORLD Festival will return in less than two months.

“NAH YALL WENT HARD AS SHIT. SO I HAD TO TRY TO BRING THIS BACK FOR U GUYS,” he wrote in all caps via his Instagram (seen above), continuing by promising this year’s show will be “ALOT CRAZIER AND BIT MORE RAMPAGE !!!” So far the lineup is still under wraps, but that should change in the coming weeks as we get closer to the event. What we do know though is that the festival will return to NRG Park as an ode to the original Astro-World theme park that once stood in the same area. Tickets are already on sale now, with general admission going for $89 USD and VIP tickets priced at $250 USD. The latter includes two tiers, the most expensive including a merch pack, VIP entrance, VIP viewing deck and a commemorative laminate amongst other exclusives.

Travis Scott’s ASTROWORLD Festival 2019 goes down on November 9, and a portion of the proceeds from ticket sales will go to Workshop Houston. Cop your tickets by clicking here.

Spanning from Sept. 7-8, the festival will take over Centennial Olympic Park with a huge list of heavy-hitters scheduled to hit the stage. Loyal ’90s heads can expect to see DMX, a Three 6 Mafia reunion from Juicy J, DJ Paul, Gansta Boo and Crunchy Black and a special 25th anniversary performance from Wu-Tang Clan. There will also be a set by LaFace Records legend Kawan “KP The Great” Prather & his “Superfriends,” the latter bunch including Pharrell Williams and Usher. More ’90s R&B will be included in the mix as well, as Raphael Saadiq and Musiq Soulchild will perform to add some throwback soul to the two-day event.

A range of artists representing for the new era will fill out the other half of the lineup, with headlining sets coming from Gucci Mane, Rae Sremmurd, Tory Lanez and Rick Ross. On the singing side, Teyana Taylor, Ari Lennox, Summer Walker and Queen Naija hold things down, in addition to the Florida All-Stars doing their thing with some assistance from Trina, Trick Daddy, T-Pain and a special surprise guest that hails from the South. International stars Wizkid, Chronixx and Koffee bring flavor to the lineup from over the pond, and the rest of the scheduled performers include Tobe Nwigwe, Phony PPL, Snoh Aalegra, 7 AM, Lolo Zouai, The Bonfyre, Tayla Parx, Key!, JamesDavis, Baby Rose and Yung Baby Tate. Whew!

The Best Rap T-Shirts Spotted at Coachella 2019

The annual Coachella Festival is one of the greatest live music events of the year, and The Source was on grounds for Weekend 1 to take in all that three days of rap, rock, R&B and everything in between had to offer. While performances are always the highlight of the occasion, nothing compares to the fashion that you’ll spot while jumping from stage to stage.

Jay-Z, Hard Knock Life Tour (1999)
Spotted: De La Soul set, Heineken House

Since Coachella does festival style like no other, we had to test the Hip-Hop knowledge on the scene to see who was properly representing for the culture. Rap tees seemed like the best area to focus on, and we definitely peeped some good ones — vintage De La Soul for the ’80s heads, Hard Knock Life Tour-era Jay-Z for ’90s kids and the absolute standout of them all that mixed early 2000s rap with the infamous Fyre Fest of today — sorry, Ja Rule! — as worn by the brilliant and clearly hilarious Questlove of The Roots. Check for that one specifically above, but the rest that we spotted all weekend long are pretty fresh as well.

Keep scrolling for a style-driven trek through Weekend 1 of Coachella 2019, and see if you can name the era, album or even the year of each rap T-shirt we came across:
