Yesterday, Hip Hop icon and movie director Ice Cube took to social media to address Friday actor Faizon Love, who said he was only paid $2,500 for his role as Big Worm.

Faizon said he was offered double pay scale($5,000) to appear in Next Friday, which he turned down. Cube wrote on Twitter, “I didn’t rob no f**kin body. The 1995 Friday movie cost $2.3m to make. Shot it in 20 days. Fazion worked 1 day, maybe 2. All the actors got paid scale to do the movie. They could’ve [simply] said ‘No’ but they didn’t. So miss me with that sh*t…”

Someone on the timeline made the comment that Chris Tucker didn’t reprise his role as Smokey because of money, but Cube addressed that as well, stating, “We were ready to pay Chris Tucker $10-12m to do Next Friday but he turned us down for religious reasons. He didn’t want to cuss or smoke weed on camera anymore.” Tucker himself said he turned down the role because “I don’t want to represent everyone smokin’ weed. I kinda made it more personal than a movie, and that’s one of the reasons I said, ‘Nah, I don’t want to keep doing that character.’”

Faizon Love Questions JAY-Z’s Street Past, Cam’Ron Says Hov Was Legit

Camron

Ready for a wild story? For some reason, Faizon Love took aim at JAY-Z and called him a fake drug dealer. We all know Hov won’t respond to Love but who did for him? Cam’ron.

Love was on the Hip-Hop Uncensored podcast and stated that he does not believe the drug raps, even though he finds them enjoyable.

“I like Jay-Z. I like him as a guy and the whole thing he created about this fake dope dealing,” Love said. “That’s when I stopped liking him. This nigga ain’t sold no cocaine in his life—I don’t think he’s ever won a fight.”

Cam put the perceived bad blood between him and Hov to the side and stuck up for Jigga.

“I know me and Hov haven’t had the best relationship (publicly) but Faizon don’t know what the fuck he’s talking bout. Whether legally or illegally niggas got to it,” Cam wrote.

Today in Hip-Hop History: Cult Classic Flick ‘Friday’ Premiered In Theaters 25 Years Ago

Its been 25 years since the original stoner comedy Friday lit up the theaters. The film not only grossed $28 million in the box office, it became a timeless classic.

Friday tells the story of two pals, Craig (Ice Cube) and Smokey (Chris Tucker), who are enjoying the start of their weekend while trying to avoid the neighborhood’s bully and drug dealer.

The film starred other notable Black actors like Nia Long, Bernie Mac, John Witherspoon(RIP) and more. Following the classic film’s release, Tucker became a household name and two sequels were spawned.

Witherspoon, who passed away last year, confirmed production of a Last Friday during a brief radio interview. Witherspoon celebrated the greenlight of the fourth and final installment of the Friday franchise, as many fans are after years of rumors, but not every cast member is enthusiastic.

Tucker said that Friday was a “moment in time” and was concerned if he’s too old to play out the youthful and immature antics require to fulfill the role of Smokey.

I was a young kid. I was laughing through the whole thing. I was proud of that, making myself laugh. I don’t know if I could do another one because I was so young and it was a moment in time. But we’ll see.

It will be pretty awkward to see Tucker reprise this role. However, Smokey’s character was a fan favorite in the original movie and it’ll be cool to seen him incorporated in Last Friday in some way or fashion
