In the weeks since the passing of Young & The Restless actor Kristoff St John, legal wrangling over his estate has ensued. After one of his daughters filed to take control of the estate saying her father didn’t have a will, St. John’s father says that his son did indeed leave a handwritten will behind.

The Blast
reports:

According to the will filed by Kristoff’s father, Christopher St. John, wrote, “In the event of my untimely death,” he wanted all his personal savings and money to be divided up among his two daughters, Lola and Paris, with a split of 75% and 25%.

The letter also claims there was a $100,000 check given to Kristoff’s father for Lola, and the actor appeared to note, “He must give money for Lola immediately.”

The late “Young and the Restless” star wanted his younger daughter to be able to access portions of her money on her 16th, 18th and 21st birthdays. He wanted his older daughter, Paris, to receive a lump sum.

The star was also behind on the mortgage for his home, and his father wants to make sure he can pay off the debt so his family doesn’t incur any penalties.

The will names Christopher St. John as the executor, and he is asking for permission to act immediately after a change in his son’s life insurance policy was noted.

Notorious B.I.G. Estate Is Suing A Snowboard Company For Copyright Infringement

The Black Frank White’s likeness is still a money machine thus his family is asking for extra respect on the legend’s trademark. An equipment brand apparently did not thus B.I.G.’s legal team is coming for his coin.

Billboard is reporting that the estate of Christopher Wallace has filed a suit against YES Snowboards over what they claim was an illegal use of the rapper’s image. Late in 2018 the Switzerland based company released a capsule collection with Hip-Hop photographer Chi Modu. On the four decks were iconic photos of legendary MC’s taken by the documentarian.

Included was one that featured two iconic photos of the fallen Bad Boy Entertainment star. One of him in a white denim outfit and the famous “King of New York” shot from his Source Magazine cover. While the shots are the property of Mudo, Voleta Wallace and his widow Faith Evans argue that YES did not secure the proper licensing for the release.

Their lawyers explained their position in a legal filing. “Defendants intentionally and in bad faith gained access to and intentionally sold the Infringing Products to purposely profit from the Property Rights. At a time where fame and popularity for musicians comes and goes on an accelerated time scale, it is hard to quantify the power — both emotional and financial — of a musician whose brand and persona are still appreciated, recognized, and replicated more than two decades after his death.”

The Wallace estate is seeking all profits from sales plus damages. Since the issuing the suit YES has stopped selling the Biggie snowboards.

The sudden passing of Mac Miller earlier this year came at a time when his career was undoubtedly on an upward arc. Now, the late Pittsburgh rapper’s family is requesting documents to examine the value of his estate.

The Blast reports:

On November 26, documents were filed in the “Small World” rapper’s estate requesting a judge to appoint a probate referee who can appraise the assets of Miller’s estate, including cash, real estate and personal property.

The documents reveal the estate has not been able to figure out how much money was left behind, the value of his royalties or how much his name and likeness is worth in death.

The appraiser is also expected to give an estimate of how much Miller’s music royalties may be worth in the future. Once a value is given, the estate may be closer to figuring out which beneficiaries, including the late rapper’s brother and parents, will receive.

The outlet adds that an attorney has been hired to oversee the process and that Miller’s parents and brothers are the known trustees.

Aretha Franklin’s Lawyer is Requesting $54K from Estate for Past Due Payments

Aretha Franklin is still getting billed even after life, according to TMZ.

Franklin’s lawyer, Gregory Reed, says he had trouble collecting what the Queen of Soul owed him while she was alive. So now he’s hoping that her estate would cover her debt with him. He filed documents requesting the state makes a payment of $54,000 to cover charges dating back to 6 years ago.

In docs, obtained by TMZ, Reed’s firm claims to have provided multiple services to Aretha Franklin, who passed on in August, including arrangements on her last Atlantic Records contract. The firm says her last payment, for about $10,000, was made in August 2012.

Reed is definitely not trying to be added to the chain of fools.
