According to several confirmed reports, 2 Chainz will be expanding his Esco Restaurant And Tapas chain just six years after opening the flagship location in Atlanta in 2016. This milestone comes shortly after Chainz and his business partner Mychel “Snoop” Dillard settled a lawsuit out of court with the family of drug czar Pablo Escobar.

The ATL trap/rap star said that he and Dillard signed their first franchise agreement after successfully running three Atlanta locations.

“[Dillard’s] one of the people that really made my transition into this hospitality space easier because originally my introduction to the space was real estate,” said Chainz. “I own properties and dirt and stuff like that. So that merged with her passion and mine and made me very comfortable in this space going on six years now.”

After being sued by the family of Pablo Escobar in 2020 for using the Colombian drug kingpin’s intellectual property, the business duo recently managed to successfully settle out of court wit the family to the tune of $15K, which ultimately allowed them to expand the franchise.

Pablo Escobar’s Family Sues 2 Chainz Over Restaurant Name

Pablo Escobar's Family Sues 2 Chainz Over Restaurant Name

2 Chainz is facing another issue over his Atlanta restaurant, but this time he’s dealing with Pablo Escobar’s family.

The king pin’s family is suing the rapper for at least $10 million claiming the Escobar Restaurant and Tapas violate federal law by using Escobar’s name and likeliness.

Escobar Inc. reportedly trademarked the name and isn’t happy about the notorious Colombian drug lord’s name is all over the restaurant, website, social media, and merchandise.

The estate is seeking a minimum of 8-figures in damages and wants to blockage usage of the name and likeliness.

2 Chainz is facing unrelated issues with the same restaurant over breaking COVID-19 social distancing guidelines.

Hopefully, Tity Boi can get this sorted out quickly and continue running the business as usual.

2 Chainz Reneges On Reopening Atlanta Restaurants

Even though Georgia Governor Brian Kemp is going forward with his plans to reopen the state, many residents are opposed to the reopening because of the risks of the spread of COVID-19 and now one of the Hip Hop artists on the side opposing the Governor is 2 Chainz.

Less than 24 hours after it was announced that his Atlanta-based Escobar Restaurant And Tapas would be open for dine-in service on Monday, Chainz’s business partner and co-owner of Escobar Snoop Dillard announced that they were abandoning their plans to open and are staying safe and closed.

“After careful consideration, we are not going to open our restaurants on Monday. It has not officially been decided when we will start having dine-in service,” said Dillard.

Many people opposed Gov. Kemp’s choice to reopen Georgia amidst the pandemic, even Atlanta Mayor Keisha Bottoms, who openly condemned the Governor’s decision. When asked about Kemp’s decision, Bottom’s replied, “I do hope that I’m wrong and the governor is right. Because if he’s wrong, more people can die.”
