SOURCE SPORTS: Two Teams Showing “Serious” Interest in Signing Colin Kaepernick

A new report revealed that the Quarterback who was blackballed by the NFL after protesting police brutality could be signed to a team real soon. According to Bleacher Report’s Mike Freeman, an NFC West executive said at least two teams are “seriously interested” in signing the Super Bowl QB. Two other NFL execs said the interest is “real” and Kaep could be signed by the end of the month.

Kaepernick was granted a private workout for Saturday that may have been because of  Jay-Z. Hov reportedly persuaded Roger Goodell to organize a private workout for the ousted athlete to prove that he belongs in the league. Jay-Z earned a seat at the table when Roc Nation signed an entertainment deal with the NFL to improve music performances in the league as well as working on social justice initiatives.

There have been doubts that the workout was little more than a publicity stunt by the league to rectify a wrong that cost them a multi-million dollar settlement with Kaepernick and former teammate Eric Reid. Regardless, a reported 11 teams are attending Kaep’s workout.

The Atlanta Falcons, Arizona Cardinals, Cleveland Browns, Denver Broncos, Detroit Lions, New England Patriots, Miami Dolphins, New York Giants, New York Jets, and Washington Redskins have all signed on to attend. The Dallas Cowboys reportedly had planned to attend but that notion was shot down by the Cowboys organization upon reporting.

Kaepernick hasn’t played an NFL game since 2016.

JAY-Z Rumored to Become Part-Owner of NFL Team, Eric Reid Responds

Amid the backlash of the announcement of his partnership with the NFL, JAY-Z is now reportedly on his way to becoming part-owner of an NFL franchise.

TMZ details How will have “significant ownership interest” in an NFL  team, however, there was no name mentioned when it comes to a franchise name. In addition, the report states Hov is aiming “to be a change agent for the NFL.” The deal is stated to happen soon.

Earlier this week, Jay sat with NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell for an announcement of a partnership with Roc Nation and the NFL for entertainment purposes on the field but also social justice reasons. During the press conference, Hov addressed questions about Colin Kaepernick.

I’m not his boss,” JAY said when asked having Kaep assist the deal. “I can’t just bring him into something. That’s for him to say.”

Outside of the press conference, JAY-Z was criticized online for saying “we’re passed kneeling” and it was time for action. He also would make it known he is not reducing the purpose and impact of the kneeling act by the quarterback.

“To be clear, for the room, I’m not minimizing that part of it cause that has to happen. That’s a necessary part of the process. Now that we all know what’s going on what are we going to do? How are we going to stop – cause the kneeling was not about a job it was about injustice. Let me bring attention to injustice. Everyone saying, ‘how are you going forward if Kaep doesn’t have a job?’ This wasn’t about having a job.”

In response to the news of ownership, Eric Reid, who was apart of the same lawsuit against the NFL, but has found a team with the Carolina Panthers spoke after training camp.

JAY-Z claimed to be a supporter of Colin,” Reid said. “Wore his jersey. Told people not perform at the super bowl because of the treatment that the NFL did to Colin and now he’s going to be a part-owner. It’s kind of despicable.”

Eric Reid, a safety for the Carolina Panthers, has stood as one of a handful of Black NFL players who have followed Colin Kaepernick in peaceful protests of social and racial injustice in America. After news of Jay-Z’s partnership with the NFL and some comments he made in defense of the move, Reid took to Twitter to single out a quote made by the Brooklyn mogul.

“These aren’t mutually exclusive. They can both happen at the same time! It looks like your goal was to make millions and millions of dollars by assisting the NFL in burying Colin’s career,” Reid wrote in the caption of a retweet from Sportscenter’s Twitter account that featured Jay-Z’s quote which read, “[E]verybody knows I agree with what you’re saying [in Kaepernick’s underlying message]. So what are we gonna do? … [Help] millions and millions of people, or we get stuck on Colin not having a job?”

A quick look on Reid’s Twitter feed shows that Kaepernick recognized Reid for his solidarity, and gave him glowing words to illustrate his thanks.

“You never turned your back on me or the people, even when the nfl tried to silence your voice & the movement. You’ve never flinched or wavered. I love you Brother! Let’s get it!” Kap wrote to Reid, coupled with a video of the pair working out together on a football field.

And Reid is still standing with his brother despite the requisite heat that’s sure to come as a result.

That’s dope.

Colin Kaepernick Didn’t Get The Millions From The NFL Everyone Assumed

Colin Kaepernick

NFL free agent Colin Kaepernick might not have banked the major payday fans and supporters alike hoped he would receive from the league. New reports claim his recently settled collusion case secured him less than $10 million.

Despite the perception, fresh reports claim the Black Lives Matter activist and former teammate Eric Reid didn’t get the 10’s of millions media initially speculated.

Colin Kaepernick and Eric Reid, the NFL stars who alleged the league’s teams colluded to keep them off the field after they led protests during the national anthem, will receive less than $10 million to settle grievances with the league, according to people briefed on the deal. (Wall Street Journal)

Various media outlets speculated Kaep likely received well over $50 million in the NFL settlement.

The estimates that Kaepernick was due to get upwards of $100 million in the settlement were due to the fact that if the former 49ers quarterback had won his grievance, the league’s collective bargaining agreement stated he could get damages that tripled what an arbitrator determined he’d lost because of collusion by the owners, who the players said colluded to prevent them from finding new teams after kneeling or holding up a fist to protest racial inequality. (NY Post)

In February, NBA icon LeBron James said he hoped Colin banked a grip in the case.

The same week, reports emerged about Colin and the NFL reaching a deal.

Kaepernick and Reid had a joint collusion case against the league. Kaepernick, who filed his grievance in October 2017, alleged that the NFL was working to keep him out of the league after he began kneeling during the national anthem three years ago. Reid, who knelt with Kaepernick in San Francisco, had also been out of work until being signed by the Panthers during the 2018 season. Reid had also filed his own grievance against the league. The players’ complaint, which alleged violations of the NFL’s collective bargaining agreement, was headed to a full hearing before an arbitrator later in February. (Charlotte Observer)
