Dr. Dre to Pay Ex-Wife Nicole Young $100 Million In Divorce Settlement

Dr. Dre and Nicole Young Are Legally Single While They Dispute Prenup

Dr. Dre has agreed to pay his ex-wife Nicole Young $100 million as a part of their divorce settlement. According to TMZ, Dre is “delighted” that he has to only pay a fraction of his estate.

The agreement includes that Nicole pays for her own legal fees, which have stacked up over the last year and a half. Nicole will also not be entitled to receive any monthly spousal support.

Dre will also get to keep seven of the properties that they own, including their Malibu, Calabasas, and Brentwood estates, and four L.A. properties. Dre will also be able to keep his master recordings, trademarks, and Apple stocks which include the money he made from the sale of Beats By Dre.

He also gets to keep six cars, while Nicole takes four.

As for why Nicole did not get half, the two actually have a prenuptial agreement that Nicole had contested.

Sources close to the former couple say that Nicole’s payout could have been bigger if they had settled last year. One source even said that she could have been on the field for Dre’s Super Bowl Halftime performance in February as the “friendly ex-wife.”

Dr. Dre Ordered To Pay Nicole Young’s Lawyers $500K

Dr. Dre and Nicole Young

It has been about a year since Dr. Dre and his wife Nicole Young announced their divorce. Their divorce has been messy, with Nicole claiming Dre had affairs with other women and physically and mentally abused her. But it seems like things might be coming to an end soon.

According to Daily Mail, Dre’s lawyers were in court on April 27th, and during the hearing, the judge ordered Dre to pay his estranged wife $500,000. During their divorce, Nicole ordered that Dre pay her $2 million a month in spousal support, as well as pay her $5 million in attorney fees. Instead, a Los Angeles judge issued a $500k judgment and will reevaluate other aspects of their divorce at their next hearing of July 8th. It is also reported that Dre will have to pay Nicole the $500k within the next 10 days.

Dr. Dre was recently declared legally single. In March, both of their lawyers filed a motion to legally end Dre and Nicole’s marriage, allowing them to be single. Just last week, the judge presiding over the case signed off on a motion, despite there still being a ton of information on the financial side to sort through. Dre wants to be able to keep his $800 million fortune while Nicole is trying to leave with half of it.

Dr. Dre Denies Estranged Wife’s Claim She Owns Rights To His Name

Screen Shot 2020 11 23 at 9.18.45 AM

In exclusive court documents obtained by TheBlast, Dr. Dre has filed a court motion to stop Nicole Young’s lawsuit over the trademark to his name as well as the title of his most coveted project, The Chronic.

Back in August, Nicole filed a suit claiming co-ownership of the trademarks of The Chronic and his moniker Dr. Dre, while she accused Dre, whose real name is Andre Young, of transferring the rights to the trademarks into a brand-new company in which he is the sole proprietor.

Sources close to the couple say that since they were married in 1996 and The Chronic album dropped in 1992, it isn’t possible for her name to be on the trademarks, however, Nicole Young claims that Dre didn’t file for the trademarks until 1997.

In the new court docs, the Dr. doesn’t pull any punches when talking about his estranged wife’s recent legal actions. His lawyer wrote, “Plaintiff Nicole Young, after commencing divorce proceedings against Defendant Andre Young, seeking over $400 Million, then stealing almost $400,000.00 from an LLC that funds Defendant Young’s recording studio, draining its entire bank account, Plaintiff has decided that $400,400,000.00 and one lawsuit are not enough. She is now suing Defendant Young and another LLC in a separate lawsuit, having the temerity to claim that trademarks to Defendant Young’s performing name, “Dr. Dre,” and to his first solo album, entitled “The Chronic,” have been unlawfully transferred from Defendant Young to his wholly-owned LLC.”

The motion filed by Dre also says, Dr. Dre” is a trade name that Defendant Young had used for over ten years before he even met Plaintiff, as a member of the World Class Wreckin’ Cru, then as a member of NWA, and then as a solo performer. “The Chronic” was a multi-platinum and Grammy-winning album that was released four years before his marriage to Plaintiff.”
