It has been two years and a label switch for Wale since his last studio album, and now the masses are once more tuned in to his latest set. The Washington, D.C. rapper has unleashed his sixth studio album Wow… That’s Crazy to the masses and it appears that fans are extremely satisfied with the work.

Wale’s last album Shine was another critically-acclaimed effort for the Maybach Music star before the squad moved their business interests over to Warner Bros. Now with a new machine behind him after putting out a trio of EPs, Wow… That’s Crazy takes the listeners on another journey into the mind of Ralph Folarin.

Features on the album include Ari Lennox, Boogie, 6Lack, Bryson Tiller, Jeremih, Megan Thee Stallion, and his MMG brothers Rick Ross and Meek Mill among others.

The reaction on Twitter has been, ahem, crazy, and we’ve got those listed out below along with the album streams.

Congrats and salute to Wale!

Hip-Hop Wired Premiere: Kev Brown Drops Potent New LP ‘Fill In The Blank’

Kev Brown - Fill In The Blank

Source: Redefinition Records / Redefinition Records

For the past decade and a half,  Kev Brown has occupied a significant segment of underground Hip-Hop and his two-headed skill set has only been refined over the years. It has been an especially busy year for the DMV rapper and producer, dropping his third LP of the year with the potent Fill In The Blank which only aims to heighten the mystique about the man and place him properly next, if not ahead, of his dual-skilled peers.

Fill In The Blank runs for 20 tracks, nine short from the Low Budget Crew member’s epic and equally sweeping Homework album from earlier this year. While the strategy of releases isn’t immediately known, the bookend projects that sandwich the instrumental and wildly experimental Delve Into Classic Moog show and prove that the years haven’t dulled Brown’s ability to craft moments with thumping production and his comfortable, bourbon-soaked rhyme schemes.

Beyond the production, what stands out above anything is Brown’s ability to get mileage out of his verses without breaking a sweat or word count. This efficiency in rhyming, coupled with production that sounds chiseled from the finest boom-bap of the ’90’s and early 2000’s, is only heightened by the fact Brown posts an everyman observational stance via his verses.

Speaking of production, former rapper and producer, and current drummer for funk band The Du-Rites J-Zone gets several shout-outs across the songs for providing the drums on the project.

There are schools of thought that embrace the beauty of simplicity and yes, Brown isn’t looking to emerge as a lyrical vanguard at this stage of his career. Instead, he sticks to his proven formula doing what the beats call for and rapping directly to the listener. There isn’t any abstract meaning hidden in the song, and there’s enough head-nod heat to last you through the chilly fall months and beyond.

Hip-Hop Wired Premiere: Pinky Killacorn – “Ain’t Gotta Lie” [Video]

Pinky Killacorn - "Ain't Gotta Lie"

Source: YouTube / Screen Capture

Pinky Killacorn has been bubbling on the DMV Hip-Hop scene for years, building a reputation as a well-rounded and visually-arresting artist across the realms of music and fashion. Now the “Uptown Cherrybomb” is preparing a new project and the launch of the opening video and single, “Ain’t Gotta Lie.”

In preparation for her upcoming release, Pinky And The Pain with her new label, Grindstone Music, “Ain’t Gotta Lie” serves as the introduction of this budding partnership. Fans of Pinky are well aware that she’s 420-friendly as evidenced in the clip, which borrows heavily from the theme of a classic stoner 90’s flick that we won’t give away but will become evident from fans at the onset.

Over Airplay Smoke’s slow, bass-heavy bounce, Pinky’s distinctive voice and effortless flow crafts a tale of how honesty is truly the best policy in relationships both romantic and professional, while also talking her sh*t as necessary. Also on display is Pinky’s skill as a vocalist, and her pop-friendly hook contrasts masterfully with the face-forward rhyming she’s best known for.

Check out Pinky Killacorn’s “Ain’t Gotta Lie” with Legicity Productions in the director’s chair.
