R. Kelly is currently facing 10 counts of sexual abuse and the allegations continue to mount even outside of the courtroom.
Lisa Van Allen, who was allegedly one of the singer’s ex-girlfriends and spoke out on the Surviving R. Kelly documentary, says he confided in her and revealed that he had a sexual relationship with Aaliyah’s mother, Diane Haughton, as well. TMZ reports that Kells denies these claims and Lisa is simply trying to drag his name.
“He actually stayed at their home in Detroit and her mother actually was sexually attracted to him as well,” Van Allen said during an interview with Vlad TV. “And he said when Aaliyah went to sleep, he would go in the living room and him and her would do sexual acts on the couch while Aaliyah was sleeping in the bedroom.”
The Pied Piper is due back in court on March 22nd for the next hearing in his sexual abuse case.
As the R. Kelly saga continues to unwind, a wild accusation that stemmed from a decade old rumor will definitely add fire to the flame of public opinion in the disgraced singer’s sexual abuse case.
Lisa Van Allen, one of Kelly’s former girlfriends, who spoke in an exclusive interview with VladTV, said that the reason why Aaliyah and R. Kelly were married was because the then 14-year old songstress was pregnant by Kelly. According to this logic, the “Trapped In The Closet” crooner wouldn’t be viewed as a molester if he was married to the teenaged star.
Additionally, Allen said that Kelly told her that he also slept with Aaliyah’s mother, Diane Houghton when the young singer would go to sleep.
Late singer Aaliyah‘s mom has come forward to clear the air. Diane Haughton has issued a statement following reports of an alleged back-up dancer claiming she watched a 15-year-old Aaliyah and R. Kelly have sex.
This week, Haughton put out the statement on social media and put an immediate end to the gossip.
In a new six-partLifetime documentary called “Surviving R. Kelly” set to premiere tonight, ex-back-up dancer Jovante Cunningham talks about Kelly and Aaliyah.
“We were out on the road with Aaliyah,” she says. “On a tour bus, there really aren’t many confined spaces. When you get on the bus there are bunks and so these bunks have little curtains you can pull at night if you don’t want anybody to see you sleeping. … So it just so happened we were all laying in our bunks and the curtains are open, everybody’s communicating, laughing. When the [room] door flew open on the bus. Robert [R. Kelly] was having sex with Aaliyah.” (Rolling Out)
That same year, 1994, it was widely reported Kelly and Aaliyah had secretly married, though they both denied it. A subsequently unearthed marriage certificate listed his 15-year-old protegee’s age as 18; her parents had it annulled the following year. Kelly went on to become her mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of her double platinum debut album, the uncomfortably titled Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number. (Daily Mail)

Kelly’s former friends, family members and colleagues, but most notably, women who claim that for decades the hit-making singer and producer used his power and influence to sexually and physically abuse women and young girls. Once again, Lifetime is at the forefront of a controversy having to do with late R&B singer Aaliyah. Thankfully, this time it isn’t another attempt at a horrid biopic. Unfortunately, it does have to do with a horrid allegation made forth by a former backup singer for R. Kelly, the subject of the network’s three-part Surviving R. Kelly documentary scheduled to start airing tomorrow.
After Jovante Cunningham, the former employee of Kellz at hand, made the shocking claim to have witnessed seeing R. Kelly and Aaliyah doing “things that an adult should not be doing with a child” while on a tour bus in 1994, Baby Girl’s notoriously silent mom Diane Haughton released an official statement denying the claims and calling Cunningham “a liar.” According to Yahoo! News, Mrs. Haughton is stating that Cunningham is lying about “seeing, meeting or even breathing the same air as [Aaliyah],” continuing on by stating “My husband and I were always on tour with her and at interviews and every place she went throughout her entire career. Whoever this woman is, I have never seen her before anywhere on planet earth, until now.”
