Desus & Mero Split Reportedly Due to Disagreement Over Management

desus and mero

First, the Fat Boys break up, then Desus & Mero break the hearts of their online Hive. In the middle of the past week, rumors floated online that Desus & Mero were heading for splitsville. That report would be confirmed by both Desus and the network for their show, SHOWTIME, but no reason was given.

In a new report from Puck news, the break-up is connected to their longtime manager Victor Lopez, who Showtime asked to no longer come to filming or meetings due to his abusive demeanor. Lopez’s behavior was stated to have “included bullying, screaming, and generally making people on the show feel bad.”

Five sources with information spoke to Puke, revealing Lopez was asked not to return around the same time the Bodega Boys podcast wrapped up. Desus agreed with Showtime, but Mero believed he should remain loyal to Lopez.

Puck also stated the two participated separately in MLB All-Star Game activities they were booked for and did not interact. You can read the full report here.

The brand is very strong. Desus & Mero headed back to the political warzone, Washington D.C., where they chopped it up with America’s Auntie, congresswoman Maxine Waters.

Desus Nice and The Kid Mero are racking up the wins in the form big interviews current political figures but making sure to keep the same energy they have come to be loved for. The dynamic Bronx duo returned to the nation’s capital to have a discussion with Auntie Maxine Waters and to take a quick D.C. tour.

Before getting into the interview, they make sure it’s okay to call the leader of the Impeach Trump movement Auntie and asking her if it has a negative connotation with her, and she says not it doesn’t and that she is “honored to be called Auntie.” Sorry, Ava Oprah, and Gayle King, you’re alone on that on that one. The interview touched on a range of topics, including the orange menace, Donald Trump, which the U.S. Representative for California’s 43rd congressional district calls a “flawed character” and that “she has never seen nothing like this.”

When the topic switched to the general election and the Democratic primaries going on, Auntie Maxine revealed she is very worried.”I’m uncomfortable,” she stated. When Desus further inquired what she is most concerned about? Water’s responded:

“I think now it boils down to all of us wanting someone that we feel comfortable can really beat Trump. This country cannot tolerate another 4 years of him [Trump]. People have said, I don’t think they’re talking about the issues I we are concerned about, and I have not endorsed anybody, and I am going to wait till after South Carolina.”

No lies detected.

Following the brief conversation, Auntie Maxine took the Bodega Boys on a quick D.C. tour taking them to the committee she chairs and letting them get a taste of her day-to-day business. While in the chamber, Waters points out that there are no people of color or women’s portraits hanging and that she is the first Black person and woman to chair the House Financial Services Committee.

After their committee experience, Auntie Maxine takes the boys on a ride using the subway located directly underneath the United States Capitol that is connected to all three of the Senate office buildings and one of the four House office buildings.

Waters joins the growing list of political figures that have spoken with the duo. Just recently, they linked up with Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez headed back to BX to enjoy bacon, egg, and cheese sandwiches and put her bartending skills to use. They also quizzed current Democratic presidential frontrunner, Bernie Sanders on the price of “grails.” This is the content we are here for. If you were one of the haters hoping Lil Nas X’s 15 minutes of fame was coming to an end you will find this news disappointing. The crafter of the viral hit “Old Town Road” rode into the Desus & Mero show where he partook in a fun game of “Country or Nah” where he punted on some very obviously country things and talked about the initial reception of his song and performed it live on television for the first time.

Since its inception, “Old Town Road” has become a monster hit spawning a remix featuring Billy Ray Cyrus, a cover by Keith Urban as well version of the song from the point of view from Game of Throne’s villain the Night King. Before he hit the stage to perform the song, the “king of the yee-haw agenda” chopped it with the Bronx natives who kept it real country by rocking cowboy hats with Desus jokingly pointing out “My wife left me, and she took the F-150,” and mero adding “again” before they spoke with the viral sensation.

During their conversation, they touched on Lil Nas X performing at the Stagecoach Festival and becoming a Country Music star. When speaking on the initial reaction to “Old Town Road” catching fire on the internet X added:

“Every day is like, OK, everything was a dream . . . That terrible situation ended up helping me,”

As of Monday (May 6) “Old Town Road” is still the number one record on the Billboard Hot 100 chart holding off Taylor Swift’s struggle shimmy inducing new record and Panic! at the Disco. The single is poised to be one of the most dominant #1 songs of all-time putting in elite company with tracks like “The Boy is Mine,” “Shape of You” and “I Will Always Love You” just to name a few.

As for the performance, Lil Nas X was ready backed by his live band he performed an updated version of the track. It’s pretty safe to assume that X isn’t going anywhere, you can check out his live rendition of “Old Town Road” below.

Desus & Mero Go Sneaker Shopping, Hilariously Breakdown Bronx Footwear Choices

Desus & Mero Sneaker Shopping

Source: Complex / Complex

The Bodega Boys aka Desus & Mero join the growing list of famous sneakerheads to star in Complex’s Sneaker Shopping franchise.

The comedic duo’s brand is strong as ever after saying deuces to Viceland subsequently inking a deal with Showtime and taking their hilarious podcast to MSG for a live show this November. They linked up with Complex’s Joe La Puma at Stadium Goods in NYC for their hilarious takes on Air Jordans, Kanye West’s kicks and of course they had to speak on Bronx-centric footwear such Air Force 1s, Timbaland Boots and Foamposites.

In the 13 minute clip, Mero kicked things off explaining his love for the Concord Air Jodan XI’s despite his public hate for Jordan and how himself and his father went on a mission uptown to acquire a pair but were unsuccessful. Mero would later cop his grails when they were re-released to the world.

In classic Bodega Boys fashion, Desus followed his co-host by breaking down hilariously how people got exposed wearing fake Jordan’s due to poorly constructed Jumpman logo. He also expressed his love for the Air Jordan 12, “The Master” and breaking down the ridiculous Twitter conspiracy theory that accompanied them.

Other highlights from the episode include Desus admitting to never repeating a pair of sneakers or t-shirts on their Viceland show and how the Bronx made the Foamposite an all-purpose sneaker and proclaiming the Kanye’s swan song with Nike the Air Yeezy II “Red Octobers,” his best sneaker. When it was all said and done, the duo concluded the interview by racking up a $4,000 bill in sneakers.

You can watch the very entertaining episode of Complex Sneaker Shopping featuring Desus and Mero below.
