Netflix’s Now-Canceled Daredevil & Luke Cage Have Almost Zero Chance Of Disney+ Revival

Luke Cage

Netflix’s popular “Daredevil” and “Luke Cage” shows are really done-done. New reports claim the two Marvel series are almost guaranteed not to appear on the upcoming Disney+ streaming service.

According to Rolling Stone entertainment writer Alan Sepinwall, the now-terminated Netflix shows’ fates are practically sealed.

Last week, Netflix shocked subscribers by announcing the “Daredevil” series would not come back for another season.

“Marvel’s Daredevil will not return for a fourth season on Netflix. We are tremendously proud of the show’s last and final season and although it’s painful for the fans, we feel it best to close this chapter on a high note,” a Netflix spokesperson said in a statement. “We’re thankful to showrunner Erik Oleson, the show’s writers, stellar crew and incredible cast including Charlie Cox as Daredevil himself, and we’re grateful to the fans who have supported the show over the years. While the series on Netflix has ended, the three existing seasons will remain on the service for years to come, while the Daredevil character will live on in future projects for Marvel.” (Variety)

In October, speculation developed about why Netflix canceled its popular “Luke Cage” Marvel series after two seasons.

A source tells The Hollywood Reporter that the cancellation was due to creative differences and the inability to agree to terms for a third season of the show. Netflix doesn’t release viewership figures for its content. (The Hollywood Reporter)

Days prior, reports went viral about Netflix pulling the plug on its superhero franchise.

“Unfortunately, ‘Marvel’s Luke Cage’ will not return for a third season. Everyone at Marvel Television and Netflix is grateful to the dedicated showrunner, writers, cast and crew who brought Harlem’s Hero to life for the past two seasons, and to all the fans who have supported the series,” Netflix and Marvel Television said in a joint statement. Netflix’s Daredevil Suffers Same Fate As Luke Cage, Canceled After 3 Seasons

Daredevil

Netflix’s popular “Daredevil” series is a wrap. After three full seasons the popular streaming giant has decided to pull the plug on everyone’s favorite blind action hero.

On Thursday, Netflix announced its shocking decision to nix any potential Daredevil storylines continuing into 2019.

The series’ second season soundtrack treated hip-hop fans to new music from rap icon Rakim.

Season 2 of Netflix’s Luke Cage premiered on Friday and much like the first season, the show is backed by an excellent soundtrack which just so happens to include brand new music from the legendary Rakim. The song, “King’s Paradise” , produced by Adrian Younge and Ali Shaheed Muhammad who are also the show’s music supervisors, name drops Harlem greats like Malcolm X, Louis Armstrong, Lena Horne and the show’s titular character Luke Cage. Netflix’s ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Trailer Finally Introduces Bullseye to the Series

Daredevil has played a major part in expanding the Netflix-verse’s roster of classic Marvel characters. The first season brought us the Kingpin, aka Wilson Fisk, followed later by the introduction of The Hand, Elektra, and The Punisher. And now with its third season just a matter of days away, there’s an intriguing new arrival: Bullseye.

At New York Comic-Con over the weekend, the Netflix show officially announced the addition of the psycho assassin in the new season. The mysterious villain will be played by Wilson Bethel (How To Get Away With Murder). While Bullseye’s comic book origins are a little more mysterious, in the show his real name will be Benjamin Poindexter, an FBI agent, and ace marksman.

The footage shown during the panel insinuated a troubled history for Poindexter that Fisk will be manipulated to his advantage, whispering that no one else understands him. It’s worthwhile to note that in the comics, Benjamin Poindexter is actually just an alias used by Bullseye who has never officially been given a civilian alter ego–so this season really has an open runway as far as its story is concerned.

The trailer teases how Daredevil Season 3 will include homages to a key storyline in the comics where a masked man wearing the Daredevil outfit starts impersonating the real Daredevil, Matt Murdock, and committing crimes to ruin his image.

New ‘Daredevil’ S3 Trailer Reveals Deadly Foe Bullseye

This month, the world of Marvel welcomes back the Devil of Hell’s Kitchen, aka Daredevil, for the third season. With the reemergence of Wilson Fisk, better known as the Kingpin, a new and extremely formidable foe has also entered the stage.

In a stunning new trailer coming in at over two minutes, the journey of Matt Murdock continues as he rises back from the dead after the conclusion of The Defenders and Danny Rand taking over in his role as a protector as the Iron Fist. But while Murdock wrestled with his demons and his purpose as a crime-fighting, rule-breaking vigilante, it appears he is embracing a darker side of himself while raining down violence in the same fashion as those he aims to stop.

Fisk is looming and the criminal mastermind has hatched a plan to not only boost his image to the city but also frame Daredevil as a reckless crusader in an attempt to turn New York City against him. In the trailer, it appears Fisk has shifted the public perception of Daredevil and as the two men prepare to clash, the appearance of a man clad in the all-red Daredevil costume with similar skills to Murdock appears.

While it isn’t known in the trailer who the mystery man is, savvy fans connected the dots to figure out that it was none other than Bullseye as noted in this ComicBook.com report. In the comics, Bullseye is a proverbial thorn in the side for Murdock, who is already feeling the weight of the world on his shoulders along with his driving purpose. And as expected, the fight scenes are especially top-notch as they were over the past two seasons.

Netflix will debut Daredevil’s third season on Friday, Oct. 19.

Kingpin Back: Trailer For ‘Daredevil’ Season 3 Drops, Matt Murdock Lives

For those who are entrenched in the Marvel’s small universe on Netflix, then you’re in the know that Matt Murdock, aka the Daredevil, lives on to fight again. In a new trailer, along with Murdock’s revival, his greatest nemesis, the Kingpin, is back on the streets as well.

In the trailer, Murdock, who is thought to be dead to his Defenders compatriots and Iron Fist taking on his role New York City, is clearly back to unleash justice on Hell’s Kitchen and beyond. In the clip, Murdock dons all Black while Wilson Fisk puts on the iconic all-white suit made famous in the comics version of the character.

In many ways, the pair clashing heads once more makes sense as Fisk and Murdock both think that their style of justice for the city is best, and both of their motives and methods can be called questionable.

The drama unfolds in full next month on October 19 when Marvel’s Daredevil launches season three. Check out the trailer below.
