Eto, Futurewave, And Daniel Son Hope To “Make It Out” On New Single

Toronto’s producer extraordinaire Futurewave has been on a tear the last couple years providing beats for albums by Boldy James, Rome Streetz, Al.Divino, Daniel Son, Rigz, Raz Fesco, and more. And now he has hooked up with Upstate New York mic murderer Eto for a full LP titled “Dead Poets.”

Today I’m hitting you with the second single, “Make It Out,” off the project. This fire joint features Daniel Son lending a hand on the mic.

Daniel Son & Futurewave – “Son Tzu & the Wav.God” (Album Review)

Daniel Son is a 32 year old MC from Toronto, Canada who came up as a member of the Brown Bag Money collective back in 2016. His profile began to rapidly increase in the underground off projects like the Giallo Point-produced debut mixtape The Gunners or the Futurewave-produced sophomore album Yenaldooshi but after spending 2021 dropping a few EPs, he’s bringing Futurewave back in the picture to lace his 4th tape from top to bottom.

“Son Rise” kicks the whole thing off on some boom bap shit with an almost glistening loop showing cats how he does it in his neck of the woods whereas “Full Moon” goes into a more euphoric route sonically talking about having nightmares that’ll haunt him until he’s gone. Rome Streetz tags along for vengeful “Field Trips” going at the throats of those jealous of their success, but then “Nostrildamus” incorporates a soul sample to get on his pusher shit. Meanwhile on “Death & Taxes”, we have Daniel Son talking about not having a choice to lead the way even tough Pro Dillinger’s verse at the start is just decent leading into the jazzy “Hallelujah” speaking on dying for his chips.

Flee Lord comes into the picture for the sedatively-produced “3rd Eye”talking about having records that’ll play when they’re both gone while the song “Stove Dance” goes into drumless turf up until the 2nd half saying he applies a pressure that they can’t take. The penultimate track “Talk to Yourself” has a horn-heavy sound advising to keep his name out these punks’ mouths & “Son Set” with Saipher Soze ends it all with some grimy street shit that hopefully serves as an appetizer for a Divizion Rivals sequel.

I know 2022 literally just started today, but we already got an Album of the Year contender straight out the gate. Daniel Son’s lyricism goes hand-in-hand with Futurewave’s raw production as always, but they really take it to another level much like they did on Yenaldooshi & Moonshine Mix 2.

Daniel Son & Finn – “Dirty Dishes” (Album Review)

Daniel Son is an emcee from Toronto, Canada who’s been going at it since 2016 with his debut mixtape The Gunners. His sophomore album Yenaldooshi that came out last summer would go onto become his magnum opus & it was followed up 4 months later with Moonshine Mix 2. But to kick off his 2020, he’s teaming up with Finn for Dirty Dishes exclusively on Gold Era Music’s website.

The album kicks off with “Fly Decorum”, where Daniel talks about being a legend over an instrumental kin to a blaxploitation film. The next song “Hit the Switch” with Asun Eastwood sees the 2 talking about those “trying to replace what we stole” over a spooky instrumental while the track “Foreign Chauffeur” with Rome Streetz sees the 2 reminiscing on growing up in the hood over a mournful boom bap beat.

The song “All Nighter” with Rob Gates sees the 2 getting mafioso over a mellow instrumental while the track “Cherry Beach” talks about his team being hungry over a somber piano instrumental. The song “Money Train” is really touching despite it’s 63 second runtime while the track “Lemon Hill” is another short yet gritty cut about how ill he is.

The song “Chasing Ghosts” with Jay Royale sees the 2 making a gruesome tribute to the heathens while the track “Burnt Thumbs” gets back on the drug dealing tip over a boom bap beat with a whimsical sounding flute. The song “Dirty Dozen” with Raz Fresco, Rigz & Saipher Soze is an eerie barfest while the penultimate track “Shorty from the West” with Black Nazi sees the 2 talking about losing this woman to the streets over a settle instrumental with a guitar echoing in the back. The album then finishes with “Boat Trips”, where Daniel gets introspective over an unbeat instrumental.

Daniel has been one of the most consistent dudes in the underground within the past few years & this is easily one of the best projects he’s ever put out. His lyricism has been getting more razor sharp with each release & Finn continue to reveal himself as one of the best producers Canada has to offer.
