Ruth E. Carter Designs Crown Royal x Coming 2 America Limited-Edition Pack

Crown Royal has linked up with the forthcoming Coming 2 America sequel and have included design royalty in the mix. Iconic costume designer Ruth E. Carter was tapped to create a limited-edition Crown Royal x Coming 2 America pack for the whisky brand.

The work of the Oscar-winning Costume Designer resonated with Crown Royal, which plans to celebrate heroes of the Black community throughout Black History Month and beyond. In case you’re unfamiliar, Carter’s handiwork can also be seen in Marvel’s Black Panther. Or, you might recognize her handiwork in a gang of Spike Lee films including School Daze, Do The Right Thing, Mo’ Better Blues, Jungle Fever, and Malcolm X. Her impeccable eye for bold colors and timely fashion in her costume design always help convey engaging stories she’s become a part of and has made her world-renowned.

As for Crown Royal x Coming 2 America, the limited-edition pack features a bottle of Crown Royal Fine De Luxe Blended Canadian Whisky which comes dripped in regal purple and gold-stitched jacquard bag. The bag and colors are a nod to the royal roots of Crown Royal. Also, each bottle arrives nestled in collector’s edition Coming 2 America packaging that includes a take on the sash Eddie Murphy’s Prince Akeem character wears in the film.

The limited-edition pack is designed by Oscar-winning Costume Designer, Ruth E. Carter, whose work transcends culture through fashion and film, along with the ability to utilize costume design to share stories and experiences.

Coming 2 America, the highly anticipated sequel to the Eddie Murphy film is set to arrive on March 5. The soundtrack for the film will come the same day via Def Jam Records.

The soundtrack features the new single “I’m A King” by rising star Bobby Sessions and multiple Grammy nominee including Best New Artist and Best Record Megan Thee Stallion.

The original soudntrack featured The Cover Girls, Chico DeBarge, Mel and Kim, Sister Sledge, and many more.

Amazon Prime Releases Coming 2 America Trailer

Eddie Murphy claims his throne in the Coming 2 America trailer that was unveiled today by Amazon Prime.

In the upcoming highly-anticipated movie Prince Akeem sets out on a quest to honor his father’s dying wish by meeting his son in New York and raising him as the Prince of Zamunda.

James Earl Jones and Arsenio Hall are also featured in the trailer below portraying their reprised roles as King Jaffe Joffer and Semmi, respectively.

They will be joined by Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Tracy Morgan, KiKi Layne, Shari Headley, Wesley Snipes, John Amos, Teyana Taylor, Vanessa Bell Calloway, Paul Bates, Nomzamo Mbatha, and Bella Murphy.

The Coming 2 America sequel was originally supposed to hit theaters but moved to Amazon Prime amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

While speaking with Complex, Hall discussed the main component that makes the sequel worth while.

“What I love most is we didn’t lose the main agenda, the humor,” he said. “It’s a funny fucking movie, and I’m proud that we hit all those bumps and checked all those boxes. It’s funny—it does everything you need it to do, but it’s also funny, and I think people will love the additions to it. There are some surprises here that will surprise people who don’t get surprised.”

‘Coming 2 America’ Sequel Set To Premiere On Amazon Prime March 2021

According to several confirmed reports, the long-awaited Coming 2 America sequel that was slated for release December 2020, will premiere on Amazon Prime in March 2021.

All of the original Coming 2 America cast from Eddie Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, John Amos, and Paul Bates will be a part of this film as well as other special guests including Wesley Snipes, KiKi Layne, Rick Ross, Leslie Jones, and Jermaine Fowler.

This news comes on the heels of Mr. Murphy receiving his first Emmy Award in September for his landmark roles on Saturday Night Live and his first nomination in over two decades.

Tracy Morgan Joins the Cast of ‘Coming 2 America’ Sequel

The sequel to Coming 2 America is already stacked and it just got heavier with the addition of Tracy Morgan.

The star of The Last O.G. will now join Eddie Murphy, Wesley Snipes, Leslie Jones, Rick Ross, Michael Blackson and James Earl Jones in what is shaping up to an all-time classic.

Morgan will be the brother of Leslie Jones’ character. Jones character will be the mother of Akeem’s son, the product of a one-night stand.

Deadline details the movie will be about Prince Akeem’s ascension to the throne, becoming the King of Zamunda, and finding out the has a long-lost son in Queens, conceived during his quest to find his Queen in the 1988 original film. With his father dying, Akeem will travel back to America to find his son, Lavelle, and to assume his role as king.

The sequel Coming 2 America film will hit movie theaters in time for Christmas of 2020 and will have Craig Brewer as Director and Kenya Barris as Producer.

Shari Headley to Reprise her Role in ‘Coming 2 America’ Sequel

It’s official! The core cast of the first installment of Coming 2 America will be returning for the sequel. Shari Headley will be returning in part two as Eddie Murphy’s love interest, Lisa McDowell.

Headley will join the cast alongside Murphy, Arsenio Hall, James Earl Jones, Paul Bates, and John Amos. New cast members include, Wesley Snipes, Jermaine Fowler, Leslie Jones, Rick Ross, and KiKi Layne.

The Craig Brewer-directed. flick is slate to be released in December 2020. It follows Prince Akeem who had a son in America that he didn’t know about, and now he must find him and fulfill his father’s dying wish to groom him to be crowned prince.

Shari Headly previously starred in OWN’s The Haves and Have Nots, and FOX’s, STAR.
