A North Dakota State University student who recently graduated is thanking Nicki Minaj for paying her tuition. The woman received her her Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In a Twitter post, the graduate highlighted her journey to getting her degree and expressed her gratitude to the rapper.

“Almost 3 years ago @NICKIMINAJ helped me to get back into school by paying for my college tuition, and tomorrow I will be walking across the stage to receive my Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology with a minor in Human Development & Family Science. Thank you, Nicki”

Back in 2017, a fan asked the rapper if she would pay his college tuition on Twitter, and Minaj agreed to pay fans’ school costs — on one condition.

“Show me straight A’s that I can verify w/ur school and I’ll pay it. Who wants to join THAT contest?!? Dead serious. Shld I set it up?” wrote Minaj.

Following the rap star’s tweet, dozens of fans took Minaj up on the offer. Some tweeted her publicity, or hit the rapper up in her messages with screenshots of their grades. The “Itty Bitty Piggy” rapper replied some individually throughout the night and agreed to pay for student loans and textbooks.

A University of Louisiana at Lafayette student who received assistance from Minaj recently graduated too. The man received his Bachelor of Science in Biology.Back in December, the graduate shared that the rapper paid his tuition a few semesters ago.

“I can’t believe that I’m acutally saying this out loud, but I am an official college GRADUATE! Bachelor of Science in Biology. Chemistry and Psychology minor. This day is even more special because @NICKIMINAJ paid my tuition a few semesters ago, and today is her birthday!”

A student at Temple University took a bold step in asking Lil Uzi Vert to pay his college tuition and the North Philadelphia rapper seems like he’s going to do just that. In a video captured on social media, Uzi said he’ll take care of the kid’s $90,000 tuition but only if he proves he’s an actual student.

The Blast reports:

The “Money Longer” rapper was strolling through a department store with massive security guards in Philidelphia, PA when one student approached the rapper and took his shot.

“Uzi, what’s good, brah?” The fan called out to the artist as he filmed the interaction with his phone. “Can you pay for my college tuition?”

That question caused Uzi to stop and immediately turn back and ask the student, who has now been identified as Raheel Ahmad, how much tuition costs.

“90 grand. I go to Temple, bro,” Raheel replied to the hip-hop artist.

The rapper stated that he could pay for that but not without conditions.

Uzi asked Raheel for his Instagram handle and told him that in order to get the money, he would have to send proof that he was actually a student.

Check out the exchange in the clip below. And good on Lil Uzi Vert for giving back too. Salute.

Since 2007, the Shawn Carter Foundation has been leading a charge to expose potential college students to the world of historically Black colleges and universities, also known as HBCUs, via a bus tour. This year’s tour campaign finds Jay-Z and mother Gloria Carter’s foundation teaming up Toyota with a stop at Washington, D.C.’s Howard University happening today (April 25).

The seven-day tour will take a select number of students from the New York Metropolitan region and give them insight into the life of a student at an HBCU. The group will meet with former students like themselves who received assistance from the foundation to attend school, along with working with college admissions counselors along the way.

For D.C.’s stop of the 11-college tour, students will meet Ms. Carter, WKYS radio personality DJ Angie Ang, who attended Howard, and Carmin Wong, a graduate student at the University of New Orleans and a former SCF HBCU tour bus attendee.

Kevin Durant Opens Facility In Maryland To Help Kids Through College

The Durant Center, a brand-new state-of-the-art educational and leadership facility powered by College Track, will welcome its inaugural class of 69 students from Suitland High School.

Kevin Durant is, without doubt, one of the NBA’s most electrifying players and a solid cog in the high-powered Golden State Warriors offense. But like other youth from his home state of Maryland, Durant wasn’t gifted with endless riches to go to the next level scholastically and now, he’s using his platform to assist others with that journey via the new Durant Center facility in Prince George’s County.

The Washington Post writes:

About two years ago, Durant was looking for ways to widen his philanthropic portfolio. He had, a year earlier, signed a two-year contract with Golden State worth about $54 million. His foundation had overseen the construction of parks and basketball courts throughout the United States, including some in the Washington area.

But now he wanted something more far-reaching, so he attended a conference for start-up companies and met representatives for College Track, a company that uses a 10-year plan to shepherd students from their early teenage years through college graduation. Before long, Durant found himself visiting a center in Oakland, Calif., discussing how to bring something like that to Washington while paying attention to that facility’s students.

“He was interested in understanding their journey and what types of services we provided that really change their trajectory,” said Elissa Salas, College Track’s chief executive.

The organization, whose collaboration with Durant would lead to its first site on the East Coast, considered property in the District — Salas said a second College Track location will open this autumn in Congress Heights in Southeast D.C. and a third is in the early planning stages — but that Durant was adamant Prince George’s County seemed right.

How dope is that?
