Cheff Chop Debuts Two-In-One Video for New Singles “Stay Woke” Feat. Chris Rivers & Sadat X & “Khaleif” Feat. Smif-N-Wessun

Cheff Chop (f/k/a Chop Clark) provides a dope double-dose of new music and visuals with “Stay Woke/Khaleif,” a two-part video featuring a preview of his latest tracks.

The two parts of the video were shot by Vicuals, edited by Digital 5 Designs, and directed by Chop’s own Chopworks Media. This provides a throughline of consistency with the visuals, which perfectly reflect Chop’s lyrics and tone as they transition from night in “Stay Woke” to daytime with “Khaleif.” At the same time, both parts of the video capture the claustrophobic feeling of living in a city, surrounded by nothing but steel and concrete.

Lyrically, Chop is at the top of his game on these tracks. “Stay Woke” features the emcee at his most fired up as he lyrically decimates corrupt government officials. And with “Khaleif,” there’s a similar frustration, but it’s much more personal. Even better, the full versions of both singles include features from some heavy-hitters in hip-hop—Chris Rivers and Sadat X appear on “Stay Woke” while Smif-N-Wessun features on “Khaleif.”

“Stay Woke” is available now through all major streaming platforms, and you can expect to hear the full version of “Khaleif” very soon, which will be accompanied with an updated video featuring both Tek and Steele (Smif-N-Wessun). Chop’s new album, Best Laid Plans, is due out later this year via his own Chopworks Media label.

Robby Blair Drops “Flex Music” Video Off New Album “Still Under The Influence”

New York-based emcee Robby Blair recently dropped a new project entitled “Still Under The Influence“. This is a follow up from his 2020 debut “Certified Influence” and features cameos from Chris Rivers, Alex Leon, Termanology, and more!

A new visual for the lead single “Flex Music” shows Robby cruisin’ around town, hitting up local record shops, and droppin’ bars along the way.

Here’s what Robby has to say about his latest release:

On my last project Certified Influence, I had a heavy Queensbridge, Capone-N-Noreaga influence, as it had a huge impact on my life and music…Still Under The Influence is heavily inspired by the Bronx/Big Pun. You hear it from the jump with the intro track that goes right into ‘Punch’em In The Face 2’ featuring Chris Rivers.  To say I’m excited for this project to be released to the world is a huge understatement. This one’s for Hip-Hop!

Check it out and let us know what you think in the comments. NYC stand up!!!

Today In Hip Hop History: The Source Magazine Remembers the Legacy of Big Pun 22 Years Later

Screen Shot 2022 02 07 at 9.13.52 AM

On this date in 2000, the Hip Hop community was both shocked and saddened by the untimely death of lyrical giant Christopher “Big Pun” Rios. As the premiere artist for Fat Joe’s Terror Squad, Pun became the first Latino Hip Hop artist to go platinum and discovered TS’ First Lady, Remy Ma.

Pun is regarded as one of the game’s best lyricists to ever do it, or as he is aptly described, one of the best “dead or alive”. His only two full-length releases, Capital Punishment and Yeeahhh Baby, are considered classic albums among true Hip Hop aficionados and continue to get radio play on his smash singles “I’m Not A Player” and the posthumous “It’s So Hard”.

Rest In Peace to Pun and sincere condolences to the Rios family from the entire Mind Squad.
