CeeLo Green Speaks Out Against Sexual Imagery And Content in Music From Nicki Minaj, Cardi B, and Megan Thee Stallion

00139507

With so many people celebrating the success of songs like “WAP(Wet A** P***y)” by Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, it’s hard to imagine that a trendsetter in the game would criticize the femininity in the testosterone-driven field of Hip Hop, but CeeLo Green definitely has something to say about the “Heads of State” among the female rappers.

In an exclusive interview with lifestyle publication FarOut, Dungeon Family co-founder CeeLo Green gives a fairly stern assessment of today’s female artists and the morality of their musical content.

The “Crazy” star stated, “We are adults. There should be a time and a place for adult content. As adults and artists, we should at least attempt to be each other’s accountability partners in some regard. The stereotypes that are celebrated and perpetuated, ultimately make the perception a reality. It is disenfranchising and it has caused a great deal of problems.”

CeeLo continued, “You have the ‘Heads of State,’ like Nicki Minaj or someone who is up there in accolade: success, visibility, a platform to influence. Nicki could be effective in so many other constructive ways, but it feels desperate. Attention is also a drug and competition is around. Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion, they are all more or less doing similar salacious gesturing to kinda get into position. I get it, the independent woman and being in control, the divine femininity and sexual expression. I get it all but it comes at what cost?”

Mysonne

New York rapper Mysonne isn’t here for the NFL, Big Boi‘s Super Bowl LIII halftime performance or CeeLo Green co-signing the set. The hip-hop veteran has come forward to share his disgust.

On Monday, the Big Apple native ripped apart last night’s event and the NFL’s tactics simmer down racial tensions.

A few hours ago, R&B superstar Rihanna shut down any and all speculation about watching Super Bowl LIII.

Back in October, comedian Amy Schumer applauded Rihanna for allegedly rejecting a Super Bowl halftime performance offer.

Friday thought. I wonder why more white players aren’t kneeling. Once you witness the truly deep inequality and endless racism people of color face in our country, not to mention the police brutality and murders. Why not kneel next to your brothers? Otherwise how are you not complicit? I think it would be cool if @maroon5 backed out of super bowl like @badgalriri Did. I personally told my reps I wouldn’t do a Super Bowl commercial this year. I know it must sound like a privilege ass sacrifice but it’s all i got. Hitting the nfl with the advertisers is the only way to really hurt them. I know opposing the nfl is like opposing the nra. Very tough, but don’t you want to be proud of how you’re living? Stand up for your brothers and sisters of color. And the hottest thing a guy can do is get down on one knee. Not to propose but to reject the treatment of his teammates by this country. Anyone who says its disrespectful to our military please read up on the fact that a lot of veterans are proud of what @kaepernick7 is doing and fully support him. What are your thoughts?

The same week, reports emerged about RiRi backing out of performing at Super Bowl LIII in support of Kaepernick.

“The NFL and CBS really wanted Rihanna to be next year’s performer in Atlanta,” the insider reveals. “They offered it to her, but she said no because of the kneeling controversy. She doesn’t agree with the NFL’s stance.” Kaepernick, who once admitted to having a crush on Rihanna, was the first NFL player to kneel during the national anthem in protest of police brutality and racial inequality.
