If Jay-Z isn’t in the news for music, he’s in the news for business.

Three months ago, Jay-Z aka Hov’s cannabis line Monogram displayed the first installment of “The Good Life, Redefined”—a lavish campaign inspired by Slim Aarons and shot by Hype Williams. Now some of those images from the photoshoot are available for purchase.

Jay-Z is branding his line of marijuana as high-class cannabis, and the mid-century luxury-inspired photoshoot by Aarons fulfilled Hov’s vision.

This shoot, which included some iconic figures in fashion, entertainment, and the food industry, took place at Twin Palms, Frank Sinatra’s estate in Palm Springs.

Images featured rappers Chika and Curren$y, stylist Aleali May, model Slick Woods, and culinary collective Ghetto Gastro as they are poolside representing fancy usage of marijuana.

“The perception around cannabis has shifted a lot since the 20th century. If you were to ask me and my peers how we’d define the good life today, weed would definitely be a part of it,” Williams said in a statement. “Whether we’re smoking to inspire creativity or to celebrate an achievement, cannabis has a rightful place in modern day culture.”

Starting today, limited-edition prints of the photographs (just 10 of each were produced, for a total of 80) will be available for purchase on The Webster and Caliva.com.

The pieces are priced at $320 and printed on Hahnemühle Photo Rag 308 gsm—high-quality cotton paper. Sizes range from 18×18 to 18×24.

During the 1950’s, Slim Aarons photos became popular for his use of celebrities and glamorous people in various indulgent social settings. His POV was usually “attractive people, doing attractive things in attractive places,” he famously said.

JAY-Z Enters the Cannabis Industry as Chief Brand Strategist For Caliva

The billions just keep on ringing in for Hov! JAY-Z, a Renaissance Man of many hats, is now getting into the business of bud by signing on as the Chief Brand Strategist of cannabis consumer product company Caliva.

The California-based organization was founded in 2015 and boasts the top-selling indoor flower brands Fun Uncle, Bad Apple, Deli and its namesake strand Caliva. For Mr. Carter’s part, the rapper will work alongside the brand to fight social justice issues relating to the legalization of marijuana. Hov also sees major potential in the product, stating in a quote on the company’s website, “Caliva’s expertise and ethos makes them the best partner for this endeavor. We want to create something amazing, have fun in the process, do good and bring people along the way.”

Here’s an official description of what his role will entail, via Caliva:

“In this position, Mr. Carter will focus on and work to increase the economic participation of citizens returning from incarceration – many of who are not seeing the monetary benefits of legalization – through advocacy, job training, and overall employee and workforce development.”

Being that Caliva currently only delivers to customers located in California, we can see how including someone like, you know, the biggest rapper in the game for the better part of two decades now could be beneficial to overall brand notoriety. We might even see the celebrated MC get his own strand named after him, too. “Hova Hash” or “Carter Kush” sounds pretty good right about now!

Read up more on JAY-Z’s new venture with Caliva on the brand’s website. Enjoy responsibly!

Ray J Enters Cannabis Industry With $5M Investment in New Company Featuring “Ray Jay’s” Joints

The business portfolio of Ray J just got a little bit bulkier. The singer, reality star, and business man recently dropped a $5 million dollar investment into his own cannabis brand named William Ray LA, TMZ reports.

Stationed in California, William Ray LA, a recreational cannabis brand will kick off with what appears to be a key feature, pre-rolled “Ray Jay’s” joints. The pre-rolls will be available in sativa and indica varieties in which the “Wait a Minute” artist plans on overall specializing in indica strains OG and sativas strains LP for the brand, offering both glass jars and pre-rolls.

Ray J has reportedly been working on this venture for a year and already has an indoor grow facility and expert team in place. Along with his own ganja knowledge, William Ray LA is supported by a group of top cannabis experts who specialize in cultivation, branding, and marketing. Ray J’s manager, David Weintraub told TMZ the new cannabis brand will focus on “non-traditional marketing strategies in media, music and entertainment.”

William Ray LA will not only offer cannabis products and merchandise, but in addition, marketing services and more to fellow cannabis business owners who are looking to expand their audiences.

The Love and Hip-Hop: Hollywood star has actually been in the talks of his new venture, most recently in an Instagram video back in May where he gives kudos to his team in a promising post.

“Been working on deal for a year now!! Stayed up for days at a time getting work done! That’s why I look hella tired all the time,” he wrote. “But It’s about to finally be official this week!! Jus wanna say thank you to my team in Kentucky, Arizona, California and Las Vegas! We’ve work hard to get to this point! Now let’s go get these MMMMs!”

Ray J is certainly on a roll. He is the founder of Raytroniks, an American consumer electronics company which rose to popularity thanks to electric bike brand, Scoot-E-Bike which he sold to Canadian company LOOPShare in a 7-figure deal back in January. Once the success of Scoot-E-Bike surfaced, he expanded Raytroniks product selection and launched Raycon Global Inc.

Celtic Legend Paul Pierce Announces His New Vape Pen Line

We all know the cannabis industry is growing by the minute and everyone is trying to get in the business. Retired Celtic Paul Pierce is getting in the game with a high-end vape pen, the Vesper. He announced the launch on Wednesday and remarked that “the Truth is Vesper.”

Selling for $59, the pen comes in gold, gunmetal and iridescent. The pen vaporizes cannabinoid (CBD) oils, which is not cannabis. CBD’s properties are not psychologically active.

Pierce uses CBD oils for chronic pain and anxiety and wishes to see more use of it in sports. “These type[s] of medication should be allowed in sports as an alternative to pain pills and other issues athletes deal with on a day to day basis,” Pierce tweeted.

Pierce joins a growing group of current and former NBA voices who recommend cannabis in various forms for the chronic aches and pains brought on from a physically demanding career. In the past, the aches and pains were often treated with opioids, which are extremely addictive. Cannabis products offer a less-addictive alternative. As more and more states legalize both medical and recreational marijuana, the demand for related products will continue to grow.
