Christian Bale Says He’d Consider Playing Batman Again, But Under One Condition

christian bale batcave batman ben affleck

Christian Bale might be considered the best Batman of all time, and Christoper Nolan’s Batman trilogy is often regarded as some of the best superhero movies of all time. It’s been over a decade since the last Christopher Nolan Batman film, and with the release of The Batman with Robert Pattinson, fans have moved on from Nolan’s franchise.

While fans might have moved on, it wouldn’t hurt to get another Batman movie with Christian Bale reprising his role as the caped crusader.

In a recent interview with Screen Rant, while on his press run for Thor: Love and Thunder, Bale was asked if he’d ever don the role of Batman again.

“No one’s ever mentioned it to me. No one’s brought it up. Occasionally people say to me, ‘Oh, I hear you were approached and offered all this.’ And I’m like, ‘That’s news to me. No one’s ever said that.’” Bale then added that if Christopher Nolan was on board, then he would consider playing the hero of Gotham again.

“I had a pact with Chris Nolan,” Bale continued. “We said, ‘Hey, look. Let’s make three films, if we’re lucky enough to get to do that. And then let’s walk away. Let’s not linger too long.’ In my mind, it would be something if Chris Nolan ever said to himself, ‘You know what, I’ve got another story to tell.’ And if he wished to tell that story with me, I’d be in.”

Would you want to see Christian Bale as Batman one more time?

‘The Batman’ Director Matt Reeves Previews The New (Old?) Batmobile

The Batman Batmobile

Source: Matt Reeves / Twitter/@mattreevesLA

Little by little The Batman director Matt Reeves has been giving comic book fans sneak peaks into his highly anticipated Batman reboot and after showing us how Robert Pattison looks in a cape and cowl, the director has previewed what the caped crusader would be pushing around Gotham City. Hint, it’s a throwback.

While Christian Bale and Ben Affleck were pushing military grade machinery in their respective Batman flicks, it seems like the Twilight star will be conjuring up the spirit of Adam West and rolling in something similar to the ’55 Lincoln Futura made famous in the classic 60’s Batman television series.

Taking to Twitter to preview the new/old car, Matt Reeves and got both praise and criticism for his decision to use, well, an actual car for the Batmobile.

While some fans appreciated the retro flavor that Reeves seems to be aiming for, others were upset that he didn’t give his caped crusader a more futuristic or even technologically advanced looking automobile to fight crime in. But fans should know that the new/old Batmobile will of course be equipped with all sorts of clever and innovative gadgets that’ll help Batman take down The Penguin (Colin Farrell) and impress Catwoman (Zoe Kravitz) at the same time, so be easy, y’all.

The only thing fans should worry about is how well the script will be because if we’ve learned anything from Batman V. Superman and Justice League it’s that a horrible screenplay can lead to disastrous results on the silver screen.

Jared Leto Tried To Get Joaquin Phoenix’s ‘Joker’ Film Deaded

Comic-Con International 2016 - Warner Bros. Presentation

Of all the Jokers we’ve gotten over the decades, from Cesar Romero’s rendition of the classic Batman villain in the 1960s. to more recently, Joaquin Phoenix’s portrayal of the Clown Prince of Crime, Jared Leto’s depiction of the “hipster” Joker in 2016’s Suicide Squad was easily the least memorable and most forgettable. Maybe that’s the reason Leto tried to put the kibosh on Todd Phillips’ critically acclaimed Joker before it could begin filming.

According to The Hollywood Reporter the Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman felt “blindsided” when he learned that Warner Bros. was going to be granting Joaquin Phoenix his own Joker film and not only complained to his agents at CAA, but also tried to have his music manager, Irving Azoff, get in contact with Warner Bros. in an attempt to halt production of the film. Though Leto’s camp denies the allegations, Leto and Azoff have since parted ways.

It would make sense that Jared Leto would feel a way about the Todd Phillips-directed film as it was said he was promised his own standalone Joker film after he complained that a lot of the scenes he filmed for Suicide Squad were left on the cutting room floor. But before he could even muster up a script for his solo Joker adventure, Warner Bros. greenlit Todd Phillips’ vision starring Phoenix, and part of the reason they did so was because of Leto’s lackluster performance as Batman’s greatest villain.

From THR:

At this point, sources say Leto’s days as the Joker likely are over. He will not reprise the role for Warners’ upcoming DC movies Birds of Prey (a spinoff centered on Robbie’s Harley Quinn) or in James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad, due out in 2021. Says one person involved in the situation: “How do you play the Joker you established following [Phoenix]? It kind of ends his Joker run.”

He will not be missed (no shots).

Ultimately Todd Phillips’ Joker not only ended Leto’s days in white and red makeup but apparently it was enough to end his relationship with CAA as “the actor felt his agents should have told him about the Phillips project earlier and fought harder for his version of Joker. Sources say Leto told his agents that they should stop the rival project, arguing that he wasn’t being treated properly as an Oscar winner (for Dallas Buyers Club).” He’s since left CAA for WME.

Unfortunately for Joker fans though, all signs point to Todd Phillip’s new classic origin story will indeed be a one shot deal as he has no plans of doing a sequel nor does he intend on having Joaquin Phoenix pop up anywhere in the current DCEU. It makes sense as his Joker story takes place in 1981 while current Batman films take place in today’s day and age. So chances are if Robert Pattinson’s Batman does eventually run into the Clown Prince of Crime it will once again be played by another actor hoping to get an Oscar nod. It sure as hell doesn’t seem like it’ll be Jared Leto though.

After Spider-Verse Success, New Rumors Claim Black Batman Is Coming Sooner Than We Think

Batman

The wait for a black Batmanto protect Gotham City could be nearly over. New reports claim the Dark Knight is set for a character takeover in the coming months.

According to reports, DC Comics is quietly gearing up for a new character to take over Batman’s duties.

The hot gossip coming out of comic book shows this weekend from a number of prominent sources, is that in the summer of 2020 leading into 2021, DC Comics is planning to bring us a black Batman. Not Bruce Wayne, but someone else donning the cowl and cape. Who this new Batman will be, I don’t know. All I have been told is that it won’t be Duke Thomas, the young man previously teased as taking on the role of Robin and Batman to come. (Bleeding Cool)

Earlier this year, social media discussed the possibility of a black actor taking on the role of Batman in a future film.

Earlier this year, Sony/Marvel’s Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse won an Academy Award and featured a lead African-American/Latino superhero.

Batfleck Done!: Twitter Reflects On Ben Affleck’s Run As The Dark Knight

Ben Affleck Is Done As Batman, Twitter Reflects

Source: Karwai Tang / Getty

The world’s worst kept secret has finally been confirmed, Ben Affleck’s run as Batman is over. The announcement comes along with the reveal of the next Batman movie arriving June 25, 2021 Deadline reports.

Since it was first announced that Affleck was going to don the cape and cowl, it was met with some mixed reactions. Despite some flashes of greatness from Batfleck, the three movies (if you count the disastrous Suicide Squad film) were all critically panned and had the DCEU looking like a confusing mess compare to Marvel’s cinematic universe.

Deadline revealed exclusively yesterday (Jan 30) that Matt Reeves’ will be taking The Batman movie will be going forward without Affleck opting to introduce a younger version of the iconic superhero. The report points out that “Affleck worked hard on The Batman story, but knew he wasn’t the right one for this particular version. A search is underway for a new Dark Knight.” The final nail in Batfleck’s coffin was a tweet from the actor himself confirming the news.

The decision to move on from Ben Affleck had many fans reflecting positively on the actor’s tenure as the world’s greatest detective and disappointed he didn’t get a solo film. While others are excited, he is gone and guessing which actor should have the honor to drive the Batmobile.

The search is on, and we will know very soon until then you peep all the reactions to Ben Affleck no longer being Bruce Wayne below.
