I’m Still Jailed, Baby: R. Kelly Denied Bail After B.S. Attempts To Get Loose

R Kelly Appears In Court in Chicago For Status Hearing

R. Kelly will at least be in jail until his 2020 trial after an attempt to go free on bail was shot down by a Brooklyn federal judge on Wednesday (October 2). The troubled R&B star’s legal team filed a motion on Monday (September 30) stating that Kelly was in poor financial shape and not a flight risk but the judge in the case detected a bit of b.s. in the air.

As reported by the New York Daily News, Federal Justice Ann M. Donnelly sided with the prosecution’s assessment that Kelly was indeed a flight risk and that home detention was too lenient a move considering the mountain of charges he faces and an alleged history of obstructing justice in his favor.

Kelly’s defense attorney Steven Greenberg has said several times in court that his client is cash-strapped and suffering from alleged health woes. Adding to that, Kelly is only allowed one visitor at a time which has caused a bottleneck of visitation between his two girlfriends, Azriel Clary and Joycelyn Savage.

The prosecution presented bail hearing charges that Kelly has been hiding massive royalty checks numbering to an amount near to $1 million and funneling the funds through the bank account of a childhood friend. Kelly was not present in court on Wednesday as he’s currently housed in a Chicago jail.

Trapped In The Jailhouse: R. Kelly Denied Bail In New York Hearing

Judge grants protective order on evidence in federal charges against R. Kelly

Source: Chicago Tribune / Getty

R. Kelly and his legal struggles will continue to mount for the unforeseeable future and deservedly so. Kelly was in court Friday for an arraignment hearing for his racketeering and sexual misconduct charges in New York and was denied bail in the process.

Variety reports:

he singer, wearing blue prison togs over an orange shirt, pleaded not guilty to the charges through his attorneys, Douglas Anton and Steven Greenberg. While he looked ahead through most of the hearing, Kelly smiled ruefully and nodded briefly at girlfriends Joycelyn Savage and Azriel Clary, who were seated with two other associates of the singer; the two women each let out a sympathetic sigh as Kelly was led into the courtroom in prison togs. He did not address the courtroom except to tell the judge that he understood the charges against him.

Attorneys for the government claimed that if the 52-year-old singer were released on bond, he would be a flight risk with a serious danger of obstruction of justice and noted the allegations of his sexual crimes against minors. They also noted his “lengthy and wide-ranging history of criminal conduct” and said that during his 2002 child-pornography trial, of which he was acquitted in 2008, there were multiple claims of obstruction of justice — specifically “paying off and intimidating witnesses not to appear” — and noted the assistance of his “inner circle” with those obstruction claims.

The outlet adds in its reporting that among the 13 known alleged victims, five were connected to the matter in New York.

21 Savage Is Released By ICE On Bond

Nine days after he was arrested by U.S. Immigration And Customs Enforcement (ICE), rapper 21 Savage was released on bond today (February 12). Per reports, he has been granted an expedited hearing. The artist born She’yaa Bin Abraham-Joseph was taken into custody on February 3 in Atlanta, Georgia. At that time, ICE labeled 26-year-old a “United Kingdom national,” and stated that he was “unlawfully in the United States.” Reports at that time indicated that the Slaughter Gang rapper faced deportation. Additional information suggested that Abraham-Joseph entered the U.S. lawfully in 2005. However, according to representatives, he was awaiting approval of a new visa at the time of his arrest this month. 21 Savage Didn’t Face Deportation Until He Became A Positive Influence The Daily Beast published a statement from 21’s team this morning. “In the last 24 hours, in the wake of the Grammy Awards at which he was scheduled to attend and perform, we received notice that She’yaa was granted an expedited hearing. Today, 21 Savage was granted a release on bond. He won his freedom.” On behalf of 21, lawyers thanked family, friends, and supporters. New Details Suggest 21 Savage Is A Victim, Not An Impostor In the last week, it was reported that JAY-Z and Roc Nation are assisting 21 Savage in his fight for freedom. Additionally, “rockstar” collaborator Post Malone wore a shirt with his name on it. Post performed with the Red Hot Chili Peppers on Sunday night (February 10).

Tekashi 6ix9ine is still behind bars but if recent announcements made by his legal team are true, that soon could change. The troubled rapper’s attorney says their side is putting together a seven-figure bail package that will give 69 homebound freedom until his trial.

TMZ reports:

The rapper’s lawyer, Lance Lazarro, tells TMZ … he’s putting a bail package together for the rapper in hopes of getting him sprung from the federal prison facility where he’s being held, so he can enjoy some freedom until his trial begins in September.

We’re told the plan is to ask the court to set 69’s bail at $1.5 million, and Lazarro will also make the case that Tekashi’s not a danger to the community … nor is he a flight risk.

6ix9ine’s lawyer says he wants to file the motion before his next scheduled court appearance in late January. If the judge rules in his favor and grants bail, the rapper can await trial from the comfort of his own home once he posts the $1.5 mil.

Lazzaro has been on record saying that the artist born Daniel Hernandez will not accept a plea deal and intends to take the racketeering case to trial.

Young Thug Released From Jail, Out On $100K Bail For Drug Case

Source: Photo: WENN

Young Thug has been released from jail but it will take some further finessing to get his full freedom back. Thugger still faces some serious charges for one of several arrests.

On September 11 the man known as “Sex” turned himself into DeKalb County police in Georgia. Local authorities issued a warrant for the rapper stating he was wanted on eight felonies. These crimes range from possession and intent to distribute amphetamine, Alprazolam (Xanax), codeine and carrying an unregistered firearm.

The charges stem from a September 2017 arrest where Jefferey was pulled over for illegally tinted windows. During a search cops found a couple ounces of marijuana, a buffet of the aforementioned drugs and about $50,000 in cash.

Bossip reports that Thugger appeared in court yesterday (September 13) and it seems his legal team is worth every penny of their retainer. Prosecutors advocated that he stay behind bars until his trial concludes but the judge granted him bail of $100,000 which he posted later that day.

His legal problems do not end there, though. On August 17 the “Stoner” rapper was arrested at his own listening event for his latest project Slime Language. Apparently, his driver crashed into a police vehicle prompting a search of their car. According to the police documents several weapons were uncovered.

Young Thug faces heavy time if convicted on all counts.
