Former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum Comes Out as Bisexual in First Interview Since Being Found Unconscious in Hotel Room With Man Who Overdosed

Former Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum Comes Out as Bisexual in First Interview Since Being Found Unconscious in Hotel Room With Man Who Overdosed

Andrew Gillum made headlines after being found unconscious in a Miami hotel room with a man who reportedly overdosed on meth.

The sticky situation temporarily derailed his political career but he participated in his first-ever sit-down interview with Tamron Hall since the incident.

“You just asked the question. You put it out there whether or not I identify as gay. And the answer is, I don’t identify as gay but I do identify as bisexual,” Gillum tells Hall.

During their hour-long conversation, the father of three admits that the public’s reaction resulted in him having suicidal thoughts.

“Everyone believes the absolute worst about that day. At this stage, I don’t have anything else to have to conceal,” Gillum said in the interview. “I literally got broken down to my most bare place, to the place where I wasn’t even sure that I wanted to live. Not because of what I had done but because of everything that was being said about me.”

He added saying that the most hurtful statement was that he was living a lie in his marriage. “What was most hurtful was this belief that I was somehow living a lie in my marriage and in my family. That was the most hurtful to me. Because I believe we are all entitled to mistakes, and I believe we are entitled to those mistakes without having every other respectable and redeeming part of our lives invalidated,” he said

Andrew Gillum unfortunately fell into depression after narrowly losing the 2018 governor’s race to current GOP Gov. Ron DeSantis. He coped by drinking and even used to put whiskey in his morning coffee. But on the bright side, he became a household name in Democratic politics.

Diddy Pumped AF For Andrew Gillum’s Unapologetic Recount Demand: “That’s What The F**k I’m Talking About!”

Diddy

Music mogul Diddy really, really, really wants to see Andrew Gillum as governor of Florida. The hip-hop mogul has continued to show his support for the Sunshine State politician withdrawing his concession speech.

Puff Daddy went to Instagram Sunday (November 11) and kept it fully 100 on Gillum’s determination to have every Florida vote counted.

Last night, Gillum appeared at a Fort Lauderdale church and explained his determination to see last week’s election end with every vote counted.

Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum wanted to make one thing abundantly clear as he spoke to a full-house Sunday night at New Mount Olive Baptist Church in Fort Lauderdale. “I am not here to ask for votes,” he said to a loud round of applause. “I am simply here to say that for the votes that have been cast they ought to be counted. Every last one of them. What a notion.” (Miami Herald)

The margin of difference in votes between Gillum and Republican opponent Ron DeSantis is less than 34,000.

Andrew Gillum and his supporters Sunday prayed for a miracle, or, given the math at hand, the recount equivalent of winning the lottery with a quick-pick ticket. The Tallahassee Mayor trails Republican Ron DeSantis by 33,684 votes in the race to be governor. A machine recount of votes is underway. (USA Today)

Over the past few days, the Tallahassee Mayor has pushed for a publicized recount.

Rihanna Flexes Support For Diddy & Andrew Gillum Ahead Of Election Day

Rihanna

Grammy-winning singer Rihanna is all in for Tallahassee Mayor Andrew Gillum receiving the last-minute support needed to help him become Florida governor. The crooner hit up social media to hype up tonight’s rally party.

RiRi hopped on Instagram Monday and encouraged Florida locals to pull through for Gillum and music mogul Diddy’s event.

Tonight’s festivities are set to go down tonight at Tallahassee’s Al Lawson Center.

Back in August, Gillum made history by winning Florida’s Democratic primary for governor.

The 39-year-old is the first black American to win either major party’s nomination for statewide office in Florida and the third top-of-ticket black candidate in the United States to be nominated this year, joining Maryland’s Ben Jealous and Georgia’s Stacey Abrams, who’s also running for governor in a highly competitive state against a candidate who also received Trump’s endorsement. Various musicians like rap star and Florida native Rick Ross have rallied behind Gillum.

Gillum is currently en route to cement his legacy as Florida’s first-ever black governor.

Andrew Gillum is on the verge of making history. Gillum, 39, is the mayor of Tallahassee, a husband, a father of three, a FAMU grad– and he’s vying to be the Democratic candidate in Florida’s gubernatorial race. If he wins the general election, he’d be the first Black Governor in the state’s history. For the son of a construction worker and a school bus driver, it’s a classic tale of the American dream, and a new chapter in Gillum’s ambitious political career (he became the youngest person elected to Tallahassee’s City Commission when he was just 23-years-old).
