Could Cardi B Be Playing The Lead Role For ‘The Bodyguard’ Remake?

 Hollywood is prepping to remake the film, The Bodyguard and producers are eyeing Cardi B for the lead role.  Variety reported Wednesday that Cardi B is one of the names floating around to revive the role made famous by the late Whitney Houston. 

Additionally, sources say Channing Tatum is being considered to play opposite the Bronx native.  It’s unclear who will get the coveted roles but Lawrence Kasdan, Dan Lin and Jonathan Eirich are set to produce the remake. 

This news follows Cardi B and husband, Offset welcoming their second child, a baby boy into the world on Sept. 4.

“We are so overjoyed to finally meet our son,” the couple said in a statement. “He is already loved so much by family and friends and we can’t wait to introduce him to his other siblings.”

The “Up” rapper was cast in 2021’s F9 and Hustlers that was released in 2019. In addition, Cardi B has already scored her first role as a lead in Paramount’s upcoming film “Assisted Living.”

Studio house, Warner Bros. has yet to make a official statement on the remake’s production.

Meek Mill Shows His Acting Chops In ‘Charm City Kings’ Trailer [Video]

As we all know Philadelphia has a history of breeding of great lyricists. The City of Brotherly Love might also be proficient in producing star thespians.

Billboard is reporting that Meek Mill is showing much promise as a supporting actor. The “Going Bad” rapper has joined the cast of Charm City Kings. This project revolves around Baltimore’s popular bicycle scene making Rihmeek an ideal candidate for the role. On Wednesday, January 15 a trailer was shared with the public that makes it clear the MC is no slouch when it comes acting.

In the one minute clip we are brought closer into the dirt bike culture through the day to day of Mouse (Jahi Di’Allo Winston) as he pursues a life of riding. He is faced with not only push back from his family but also has to face police and street rivals. Meek plays Blax, an older figure in Mouse’s life trying to keep him out of danger.

According to article the film is based on the cult classic documentary 12 O’Clock Boys which followed the life of then 13-year-old Pug who seeks the join the dirt bike crew 12 O’Clock Boys. The project was filmed over a three-year period and also spotlighted the social issues in the city of Baltimore.

Charm City Kings will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival Thursday, January 27. It will officially open in select cities on April 10 with a wider release to the rest of the country on April 17. It is produced by Will and Jada Smith.

Joey Bada$$ Will Play Inspectah Deck In The Upcoming Wu-Tang Clan Bio Series

Last month, following the premiere of Wu-Tang Clan: Of Mics And Men, a DJ Juanyto interview for HOT 97 on Staten Island with members of the Clan and its extended family suggested that Dave East would not be the only rapper to appear in an upcoming biopic. Joey Bada$$’s name was mentioned, but no further information was provided. Today (June 5), Heads have learned that the Brooklyn, New York Pro Era member will be portraying Inspectah Deck in the upcoming series, Wu-Tang: An American Saga. The MC who just released his first Beast Coast album (Escape From New York) last month confirmed to Angie Martinez (17:00) that he will be playing the Rebel INS while Dave East portrays Method Man. “There’s movie roles [coming for me],” he says at 17:20. “So me and Dave East [are] in Wu-Tang.” Bada$$ confirmed reports that his Harlem co-star is playing Meth’. “I’m Inspectah Deck,” he confirms, adding that shooting is still taking place. The crew followed with a seven-track project, including four new songs from several members. MC/producer Inspectah Deck is currently working on his first solo album in nearly a decade. The MC welcomed producers to sample using the TrackLib database to submit songs. The upcoming LP will pull exclusively from these submissions on the service endorsed by Prince Paul, Erick Sermon, Statik Selektah, and others. Producer T-Minus reportedly used the sample database to legally license a sample for J. Cole’s “Middle Child.” He last released Manifesto in 2010.
