R. Kelly Says His ‘Spirit’ Told Him to Do Gayle King Interview

R. Kelly’s “spirit” told him to speak to Gayle King.

The R&B superstar sat down with the CBS News host to address the sexual abuse allegations against him during a controversial interview, which many thought was ill advised. However, according to a new report, Kelly’s “spirit” wanted him to speak his truth despite the backlash.

TMZ claims that Kelly is in constant touch with his “spirit” and trusts it more than the people around him. He also said he felt he owed it to himself and his fans to break his silence and share his side.

During the explosive interview, Kelly became unhinged, screaming and crying while pleading his innocence and calling his abusers liars. “I didn’t do this stuff,” he said. “This is not me. I’m fightin’ for my fu**in’ life. Y’all killin’ me with this shit.”

At one point, he got out of his chair and screamed into the camera, claiming he is the victim of a smear campaign. “I gave y’all 30 years of my fuckin’ career and y’all tryna kill me,” he said. “I’m tryna have a relationship with my kids and I can’t do it. Y’all just don’t want to believe the truth.”

The interview was poorly received. Some viewers thought Kelly was putting on an act, while others felt he was having a mental breakdown. Kelly’s antics also inspired a series of memes and an “SNL” skit.

Despite the fallout, sources close to Kelly say he gives “zero fu**s” about how he’s being portrayed, and he’s not concerned with the public’s reaction.

The interview with King marked his first public comments since he was indicted on 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse involving four women, three of whom were underage at the time of the alleged events.
