BET Drops Teaser For ‘Boomerang’ TV Produced By Lena Waithe & Halle Berry During Golden Globes

Boomerang on BET Teaser

In between watching Green Book win too many awards during last night’s Golden Globes, BET gave us a glimpse of what its upcoming Lena Waithe (The Chi, Master of None) and Halle Berry produced Boomerang TV show is going to look like.

When news first dropped back in April that BET was going to be resurrecting the classic romantic comedy that starred Eddie Murphy and Halle Berry it wasn’t well received initially, but this first look has changed some minds. In the teaser for the show which is being billed as a direct sequel or continuation, we meet the new cast who are the children of the original players from the film.

The show will pick up 25 years after the film and will stick to its romantic comedy roots and will follow the young professionals as they try to balance work, friendship, and their love lives. While we still have to wait for a teaser which we are sure is on its way, BET shared a BTS video giving us a glimpse into Lena Waithe and showrunner Ben Cory Jones (HBO’s Insecure) making the show a reality.

Boomerang premieres on BET Feb. 12 and stars Tequan Richmond, Tetona Jackson, Leland Martin, and Lala Milan. We are interested to see what the trio Waite, Berry & Jones cook up with this show.

Timbaland Admitted To Being In Love With 16-Year-Old Aaliyah Back In The Day

Ever since Surviving R. Kelly debuted last week and people took to social media to voice their disgust and shock at how people brushed off creepy predatory behavior, old skeletons are hopping out of closets. A video of Drake pressing up on a 17-year-old fan has popped up and now an old interview of Timbaland confessing his love for an underage Aaliyah is making the rounds.

The confession comes from an episode of E! True Hollywood Story which aired back in 2011 in which Timbo admitted that when he first met the then 16-year-old “One In A Million” singer he felt a tingle in his then 23-year-old body.

“When I first met Aaliyah—it’s time for the world to hear this, I’m gonna give a little secret—I was in love with her. I said, ‘She just a baby, I’m old. I’m just gonna be her brother.’ Oh man, I was fightin’, I was fightin’ a lot—a big war. But I loved Aaliyah.”

Oh the difference 7 years and an R. Kelly documentary makes. While Timbaland was at the helm of Aaliyah’s most successful songs this is the kind of thing that can make you look at their relationship in a different and kind of disturbing light.

Aside from being “in love” with a 16-year-old while a full grown man, the super producer also allegedly admitted to marrying his wife, Monique Idlett, because she reminded him of Aaliyah.

Needless to say that some things are better left unsaid. Check out the clip below and let us know if Timbo was foul for falling for a young Aaliyah.

The Best Golden Globe 2019 Fits, For The Culture [Photos]

76th Golden Globe Awards Arrivals

Source: WENN.com / WENN

The Golden Globes went down last night (Jan. 6) at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Per usual, the culture showed out on the red carpet because that’s just how we do.

The Black Panther crew—Michael B. Jordan, Danai Gurira and Lupita Nyong’o—was repping, but the movie didn’t win a damn thing. Meanwhile, Spike Lee’s fit was questionable, while Halle Berry continues to defy time.

Check out some of the best dressed, with some suspect fits thrown in for archival purposes, in the gallery.

Nas Throws His Hands Up In Solidarity With Those Unjustly Killed By Cops

Near the midpoint of 2018, Nas released his NASIR album, produced entirely by Kanye West. Apart from having one producer, the legendary MC’s 11th album saw a different rollout than his other works. It was not until mid-November that fans got a video from the Mass Appeal/Def Jam Records release. That came in the form of a mini-movie, which included individual visuals from most of the 27-minute release.

“Cops Shot The Kid” is a highlight of that artful 16-minute video. Now, Nas and his label release the only charting single from Nasir on its own. Sadly, the symbolism and commentary on the Slick Rick-sampling song is something that remains relevant in the new year. Notably, MC Ricky D (who has recently been working on some Def Jam legacy materials) briefly appears in the vid.

Pusha-T’s Jarring Video Shows The Brutality & Force That Some Of Us Know Too Well

The clip begins with Nas at dusk, reflecting from an exotic beach-side view. Richard Pryor’s monologue about experiencing racism and police brutality plays. Jarring footage of cops brutal handling of Black men and bodies covered up displays, blended with the sound of incessant gunshots. As ‘ye’s charged-up beat begins, the sequence cuts to a Boyz N’ The Hood-inspired chase sequence down a fenced alley. However, in the world of “Cops Shot The Kid,” it’s not neighborhood foes clashing, it is a police squad car that has this young Black man running for his life.

Nas raps his bars, with his Italian sports car parked in the middle of the road. The delivery is inter-cut with scenes of faces being slammed on hoods, “ghetto-bird” helicopters, flashing lights, and aggressive orders from officers with their guns drawn. As Kanye raps his verse, ta body is covered outside houses that look a lot like Nas’ Queensbridge childhood. Nas and Slick Rick, two highly-respected ambassadors of Hip-Hop culture, artists, and celebrities, are portrayed putting their hands up too. They’ve felt it in their lives. Also, these parents know the pain of raising children into this world of institutional racism where the badge seems always to be a shield to justice.

Ice Cube Shows 3 Decades Of Police Brutality & It’s Not Just White Cops (Video)

Back in the alley, another kid is shot by police. The tense visual comes to a close.

In the last month, Nas has appeared in videos to his collaborations with Swizz Beatz and Black Eyed Peas. Last year, Nas’ DJ, Green Lantern, also made a remix to this cut.

Kanye West Recording ‘Yandhi’ in Miami with Lil Wayne, Migos, & Timbaland

Kanye West is assembling an all-star team of talent for Yandhi.

According to TMZ, the G.O.O.D. Music boss has been in Miami recording his highly-anticipated album with heavy-hitters including Lil Wayne, Migos, Timbaland, and 2 Chainz, as well as Tee Grizzley and YNW Melly.

Part of Kanye’s decision to record in Miami is because he has a new crib there. He surprised his wife Kim Kardashian with a $14 million condo for Christmas. The lavish South Beach pad is located in the exclusive beachfront tower Faena House, dubbed “Billionaire Beach Bunker.”

Kanye was originally eyeing a September release date for Yandhi, but pushed the album back to Black Friday, Nov. 23. The project was again delayed because Kanye was still recording.

Taking to Twitter after his performance with Kid Cudi at Tyler, the Creator’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in November, he announced the setback. “It felt so good being on the stage last night with my brother Cudi,” tweeted Kanye. “After performing again, I realize the new album I’ve been working on isn’t ready yet. I’ll announce the release date once it’s done. Thank you for understanding.”

During an early listening for the album in September, Kanye previewed collaborations with 6ix9ine and the late XXXTentacion, as well as Ty Dolla $ign, who is featured on multiple tracks. Nicki Minaj is also featured on a song about body shaming.

Yandhi marks the follow-up to last year’s ye, which became Kanye’s eighth No. 1 on the Billboard 200.

Meek Mill Low-Key Threatens To Expose Nicki Minaj After She Calls Him Out

meek-mill-nicki-minaj

Maybach Music Group’s Meek Mill is letting his Twitter fingers get the best of him. The hip-hop star has hinted at exposing some dirty deets about ex-girlfriend Nicki Minaj.

Meek tossed up some since-deleted tweets this past weekend after footage surfaced of Nicki claiming he still creeps into her direct messages.

Over the weekend, Nicki raised eyebrows by singling out Meek during a “Barbie Dreams” live performance.

“Meek still be in my DM’s” *cuts music*

A post shared by The Neighborhood Talk (@theneighborhoodtalk) on

Back in November, Meek denied sliding into Nicki’s DMs despite the song’s reference.

For the record, Mill says he did no such thing. “I ain’t get no heads-up [about the song], but I definitely wasn’t in nobody’s DMs. And definitely wasn’t nobody ducking me, shit. That’s a fact,” he says. Truth aside, he’s willing to take a joke. “I actually was laughing at it, too. ‘Cause there’s no limits! I felt it and I liked it. That’s a dope rap.” (Vulture)

A few weeks ago, Meek Mill claimed Nicki blocked him on Twitter.
