Rap newcomer Lil Xan is on the road to recovery. The hip-hop artist has reportedly checked himself into rehab for opioid addiction.

This past weekend, Xan’s girlfriend Annie announced the rehab decision on his Instagram page.

This sweet angel of mine officially entered rehab this morning. I’m sorry for all the confusion circulating about Diego leaving for rehab. It’s a tricky thing since people are coming in and out of the facility so often that rooms end up getting switched around and dates can be pushed back. I’m so beyond proud of this precious boy for being the strongest person I know and for wanting to live a better life. Please keep him in your prayers, he is doing his best right now to find peace with himself. We love you all so much, and we appreciate all of the support I love him beyond words and cannot wait to see what the future holds for our family. xanarchy family – love, Annie

It reportedly took weeks for Xan to be allowed to check himself into rehab.

As for why it took until now for Xan to check into rehab — after announcing his intentions back on November 15 — we’re told the facility where he was supposed to check himself in had a mix-up with patients staying longer than initially anticipated. The small hiccup has now been resolved … allowing Xan to check himself in. (TMZ)

The deaths of hip-hop artists Lil Peep and Mac Miller reportedly played a key role in his decision.

The 22-year-old cloud rapper was inspired to seek treatment after seeing two of his contemporaries, Mac Miller and Lil Peep, die of an opioid overdose. Lil Xan, whose stage name is derived from the prescription drug Xanax, has been open about his struggles with opiates and benzodiazepines. “In the beginning of 2017 I had my own demons with the drug Xanax,” he said in an interview earlier this year. “It got out of hand so I wanted to make a movement, Xanarchy, about just nothing but anti-Xan use and that’s what I’m really trying to promote in ‘Betrayed.’” (Consequence of Sound)
