Fugees Cancel Reunion Tour

The show won’t go on.

The Fugees have officially canceled their reunion tour. In a statement released on social media Friday, the legendary hip-hop group—consisting of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel—said that the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic has made it difficult for them to proceed with their tour dates.

“We anticipate and understand disappointment but our anniversary tour will not be able to happen,” the group said. “The continued Covid pandemic has made touring conditions difficult, and we want to make sure we keep our fans and ourselves healthy and safe.”

This would have marked the trio’s first world tour in 25 years to celebrate the 25th anniversary of their 1996 album The Score.

“An idea sparked to honor and celebrate this 25th anniversary of The Score but we see now it may not currently be our time for revisiting this past work,” they continued. “We’re grateful for the special night we did get to share with some of you in New York, with that rare live moment.”

However, they did not rule out a future tour. “If opportunity, public safety and scheduling allow, we hope to be able to revisit this again sometime soon. THANK YOU for all your love and support throughout the years.”

The Fugees 25th Anniversary Tour was originally set to kick off in November before it was postponed until early 2022. In September, the trio reunited to perform a pop-up show for Global Citizen Live in New York City.
