Indiana rapper Freddie Gibbs isn’t here for all the Travis Scott dragging. The hip-hop veteran has stepped up to shed some realness on everyone ready to cancel Cactus Jack over his upcoming Super Bowl LIII halftime performance.

This week, Gibbs went to Twitter and spoke his mind on people ripping Scott but overlooking the athletes gearing up for the NFL championship game.

This week, various celebs singled out Scott over a report going viral about him allegedly getting consulted by NFL free agent and Black Lives Matter activist Colin Kaepernick ahead of the halftime performance.

Flex’s co-workers Ebro Darden and Kaepernick affiliate Ness Nitty have also addressed the headline-generating reports.

Despite the widespread speculation, some reports claimed Trav reached out to Kaepernick but didn’t ask for his co-sign to perform at Super Bowl LIII.

Before the contract was signed, sources tell us Travis reached out to Colin … presumably to get him on board but not to ask for permission. We’re told Colin was not supportive of Travis performing at the Super Bowl, and the 2 men disagreed. Multiple sources characterize the conversation as “cordial and not hostile.” (TMZ)

In a Variety story, Scott allegedly had a conversation with Colin about his Super Bowl LIII performance.

Scott and Kaepernick had at least one phone conversation before the rapper confirmed his Super Bowl appearance, sources tell Variety. A source close to Scott said that while the two did not necessarily agree, they emerged from the conversation with mutual respect and understanding, with the rapper taking the stance that everyone makes a statement in their own way and he felt that the money going toward Dream Corps, combined with the platform provided by the Super Bowl, will do some good. The source also said that Scott would not confirm his performance until the donation was locked in. (Variety)
