Former Roc-A-Fella Records co-owner Damon “Dame” Dash hasn’t rocked with R. Kelly for a long time. The hip-hop mogul has shared some thoughts about the disgraced singer and explained his issues with Kells goes back years.

In a new interview with comedian Nick Cannon, Dame admitted his late girlfriend Aaliyah wouldn’t even spill any tea on what went down between her and Kells during their time together.

Last week, Aaliyah’s mom Diane Haughton responded to rumors about an alleged backup dancer catching her daughter and Kells having sex during a 90’s tour run.

In last week’s three-night Lifetime Surviving R. Kelly docuseries, ex-back-up dancer Jovante Cunningham talked about Kelly and Aaliyah’s relationship.

“We were out on the road with Aaliyah,” she says. “On a tour bus, there really aren’t many confined spaces. When you get on the bus there are bunks and so these bunks have little curtains you can pull at night if you don’t want anybody to see you sleeping. … So it just so happened we were all laying in our bunks and the curtains are open, everybody’s communicating, laughing. When the [room] door flew open on the bus. Robert [R. Kelly] was having sex with Aaliyah.” (Rolling Out)

Back in the mid-90’s, rumors surfaced about Kelly and Aaliyah secretly getting married.

That same year, 1994, it was widely reported Kelly and Aaliyah had secretly married, though they both denied it. A subsequently unearthed marriage certificate listed his 15-year-old protegee’s age as 18; her parents had it annulled the following year. Kelly went on to become her mentor, as well as lead songwriter and producer of her double platinum debut album, the uncomfortably titled Age Ain’t Nothing but a Number. (Daily Mail)
