Ant-Man and the Wasp On Digital HD & Blu-ray/DVD: “You Won’t Be Disappointed”

Ant-Man and the Wasp

Ant-Man and the Wasp is finally here to take home Digital HD and next week on Blu-ray and DVD. This part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, is one the more underappreciated in my opinion.

Ant-Man’s role within the Avengers is not very high on the totem pole, he’s legit just happy to be there. But, now he has his sidekick who may in fact be stronger than the actual hero himself. The Wasp taught him everything he knows and now is the time for her to showcase her talents.

With Scott Lang (Ant Man) on house arrest after his actions in Civil War, Wasp takes over! I’m getting ahead of myself, let’s get into the top five reasons you should get out and cop this latest addition to the MCU.

Reason 1: The Return of Paul Rudd

Be honest, Paul Rudd is pretty funny. His portrayal of Scott Lang, although be it different, still works within the realm of how the MCU operates. He’s got a good sense of humor about himself. Scott Lang is just as happy as can be knowing he’s part of the strongest team in the universe. Like he told Captain America, “I’m just happy you thought of me!” He continues to build on his success from the first one in this one.

Reason 2: The Wasp

Evangeline Lilly is back as well reprising her role as Hope Pym. More importantly, Hope Pym is back, and is even more bad a$$ this time around. Ant Man is on house arrest and cannot really act as the crime fighting hero he was meant to be. Although, his side kick, Hope is legit the muscle between the two heroes. As strong as she is though, she meets an even more bad a$$ villain we will talk about later. She’s now a big contributor to the empowerment of women on camera. She’s strong, smart and a leader. She’s fantastic.

Reason 3: Ghost

Hannah John-Kamen took up this role, and she was dope! I wish she had more camera time, but she killed this role. One of the many anti-heroes hell bent on revenge against big corporations, Ant man and Wasp have their hands full with this super villain. Although, she is looking to spare her own life with technology, her tactics do not exactly make her the best of heroes. When you see how she throws down on our heroes, you’ll find yourself rooting for her a bit. Or maybe I am just a sucker for a good villain.

Reason 4: Special Features

Per the usual, Marvel saves some its best features for their blu rays/digital HD’s. This one is no different. The gag reels are great, but the deleted scenes explain a lot of the holes left in this one. Granted there aren’t many, but it definitely helps in some aspects. The best part in my opinion though is the explanation of Hank and Janet Pym as the original Ant Man and Wasp. Check it out, you won’t be disappointed.

Reason 5: The Stinger

f you didn’t know already, this movie takes place while everything with the Avengers: Infinity War is unfolding. The Avengers are fighting in Wakanda and taking on The Mad Titan Thanos, Ant Man and Wasp are battling Ghost ripping and running through the streets of San Francisco. But, after it’s all over, you get a legit STINGER after the credits. If you haven’t seen it yet, it will definitely give you a loud knee jerk reaction. I was that dude who yelled in the theater when I saw it. You will too.

If you’re a fan of the MCU, you’ll appreciate what Ant-Man and Wasp bring to the fold. It doesn’t add to the Avengers story except for the credits scene, but it is definitely worth the buy. Get out on your digital platform or go to the store to cop the hard copy. Whatever you do buy this one for sure to add to the Marvel collection.

Dwayne Johnson’s Skyscraper On Digital HD & Blu-ray/DVD: “There’s Lots Of Twists & Turns” -Chin Han

Skyscraper Digital HD Blu-ray

Tired of watching the same movies? Could you use a little action in your life? Looking for a jam-packed action disaster flick in our collection?

Today, Skyscraper star Chin Han‘s five reasons you should get your hands on the must-see flick on Digital HD right now and Blu-ray/DVD October 9! [Make sure to check out each reason and enter to win your own copy!]

Reason 1: The Complexity Of Zhao Long Ji

The first reason you should get Skyscraper is to see my character Zhao Long Ji. Zhao was a fascinating character to work on because director Rawson Thurber had written so many layers into him. I think when he starts out you see him as this flamboyant and somewhat astute serious billionaire who has his own reasons for building this massive structure in the sky and it’s also a building that is the smartest man-made construction in the world. It has an ecosystem of its own. It has a 20-story garden within it. It’s self-sustaining with solar panels. It’s a living being. For me to do the research on Zhao, I read up on architectural books. Zhao believes he’s making the world a better place with this giant structure and of course as the movie goes on, you’re not quite sure why the building is under assault and there’s lots of twists and turns before you get to the climax of the movie which is one of the most fun scenes to shoot. It’s one of the visually striking scenes in film.

Reason 2: The Disaster Genre

The second reason is because these are fun movies. It’s always fun going on-set because it’s like a kid going to a candy store everyday. You don’t know what to expect. The first day I filmed was the scene where I’m in my penthouse bedroom where I go to retrieve the data from that disk that I have and that set was so huge with a walk-in wardrobe and these incredibly high ceilings and secret doorway that goes into the window of the skyscraper. That was my first day on set so you can imagine what the rest of my days were like. It really is a lot of fun doing these blockbuster movies. At the same time, it’s challenging as an actor because you have to try to move these characters in reality otherwise you have an audience who doesn’t care for them. In that respect, Neve Campbell, who plays Will Sawyer’s wife and Dwayne Johnson and Roland Moller who plays Kores Botha, they all do a wonderful job creating this world in which Skyscraper takes place. And of course you can’t forget the two incredible kids. I’ve worked with kid actors before and these two were exceptional. They were so committed to their performances and everyone loved them on-set.

Reason 3: The Bonus Content

The third reason you should get Skyscraper is because of all the features you get to see. On the features, you get to see all of the thought that went into the movie and what the inspirations were for either Will Sawyer or even for my character Zhao. I think we looked into some great inventors from the 20th century. You get to pull back the curtains and see how it all came together. You get to see how the movie was made. The HD and Blu-ray stuff is going to really show off the cinematography. The definition, the colors, it’s a very immersive experience.

Reason 4: The Chinese Authenticity

The fourth reason is because of the authenticity A lot of times you would see a movie with Asian actors and either the language is not spoken precisely or dialect might not be used correctly. But in this case I believe a lot of time was taken to get the right dialect and vocabulary. I think we had native speakers play the roles of people like the inspectors and that’s a level of authenticity you really observe.

Reason 5: The Script

The fifth reason is because of the script. I’m a big movie lover myself. I think this movie invokes a lot of movies that I loved in the 80’s. Cliffhanger. Die Hard. Dante Inferno. Whenever I read a script like that, this is a dream come true when I do a movie like this. The movie totally spoke to me and I had a great time working on it.

Uncle Drew On Digital HD & Blu-ray/DVD: “Deleted Scene, A Making Of & Director’s Commentary Are Solid Bonus Perks!”

Are you bored with watching the same types of movies? Do you need a reason to stay in with a new flick? Gotta expand your Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD collection?

Today, check out the top five reasons you should buy the new Uncle Drew movie right now on your favorite format! [Make sure to peep each reason and enter to win your own copy!]

Reason 1: The Plot

The first reason you should buy Uncle Drew right now on Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD is because of the overall plot. Keeping it fully 100 – there just aren’t enough great basketball movies out there anymore. The days of Love & Basketball, He Got Game and even Bow Wow’s Like Mike are so far behind us. But with Uncle Drew, you not only have some certified story plots but you have a stellar NBA squad of past and present studs gracing the screen. If you’re not the biggest fan of the NBA and WNBA, then the plot should gain your attention. Via Google and Wikipedia:

After draining his life savings to enter a team in the Rucker Classic street ball tournament in Harlem, Dax (Lil Rel Howery) is dealt a series of unfortunate setbacks, including losing his team to his longtime rival (Nick Kroll). Desperate to win the tournament and the cash prize, Dax stumbles upon the man, the myth, the legend UNCLE DREW (NBA All-Star Kyrie Irving) and convinces him to return to the court one more time. The two men embark on a road trip to round up Drew’s old basketball squad (Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Reggie Miller, Nate Robinson, and Lisa Leslie) and prove that a group of septuagenarians can still win the big one.

Way too much fun to ignore!

Reason 2: The NBA Cast

The second reason you should buy Uncle Drew is because of the star-studded cast. In most cases, we would focus on the hilarious comedians like Lil Rel, Tiffany Haddish, Nick Kroll, Mike Epps and oh yeah – J.B. Smoove but in this particular case, it’s all about seeing Hall of Fame NBA stars taking the spotlight. Kyrie Irving as Uncle Drew? Just imagine Bad Grandpa with epic handles and plenty of strong co-stars. Reggie Miller, Shaquille O’Neal, Chris Webber, Nate Robinson and the legendary Lisa Leslie come through in a big way.

Reason 3: The Director

The third reason you should buy Uncle Drew on Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD is because of directing heavyweight Charles Stone III. Although the name might not ring an immediate bell, he’s responsible for some legit flicks – notably 2002’s Drumline and Paid In Full. He also did movies like Mr. 3000 and Lila & Eve. Even more exciting is the amount of music videos the Philadelphia native has directed. From endless The Roots visuals to Black Sheep, Public Enemy, Large Professor, Quad City DJ’s and A Tribe Called Quest – it’s safe to say Charles Stone III has plenty of experience behind the camera.

Reason 4: The Bonus Content

The fourth reason you should buy Uncle Drew on Digital HD and Blu-ray/DVD is because of all the bonus content. Of course I know what you might be thinking – “Fam, I already have Netflix and/or streaming channels, why do I need this? I’ll just watch it on there when it’s available.” Trust me, I’ve had the same thoughts in the past but what comes with each copy is the jam-packed bonus content. Watching a movie from start to finish just isn’t enough anymore. In the Uncle Drew Digital HD and Blu-ray bonus features, you get the Dear Drew animated short, deleted scenes, a making of featurette and director’s commentary are solid bonus perks.

Reason 5: On The Go

The fifth reason you should buy Uncle Drew on Digital HD – more than ever – is being able to take this with you anywhere and everywhere. Whether you’re gearing up for midterms and need to crash in the library for a few hours or gotta go on that daily commute to work and school, watch Uncle Drew on your phone and tablet device. Anywhere you’re going, the movie goes with you. Just remember to download the full flick so you don’t have to rely on Wi-Fi passwords or using up any cellular data!
